  27. Chloe: I have lum berries
  28. Avara: working on aeb page for ro'
  29. Kaorin Sakura: Okay, net should be stable again.
  30. Chloe: meow
  31. Kaorin Sakura: I still don't see Trul.
  32. Kaorin Sakura: Everyone here?
  33. Chloe: yus
  34. Avara: hi
  35. DNA: 'ayo
  36. Kaorin Sakura: Okay!
  37. Kaorin Sakura: Anyone wanna recap?
  38. DNA: I recall us staying at someone's place for the nght and getting ready to head out in the morning. Which reminds me, by that time, Roland's scab injury will have healed off (if it hasn't already).
  39. Chloe: It was night, and we had arranged for a place to stay, though we hadn't taken them up on that offer yet.
  40. Chloe: Though we might as well, in light of the timeline we're exhausted.
  41. Kaorin Sakura: I believe you did.
  42. Kaorin Sakura: Because everyone spent their extended actions.
  43. Kaorin Sakura: And we agreed to start at the following day.
  44. DNA: that would make it Feb 11, right?
  45. Kaorin Sakura: Yes.
  46. Chloe: I missed out on that topic.
  47. Kaorin Sakura: It was at the end of the session.
  48. Roland: Roland is healed and gains 0 hit points.
  49. Avara: injury fixed
  50. Kaorin Sakura: Chronicler: Whelp, it's almost 2 AM. >_>
  51. Chronicler: So, how about this:
  52. Chronicler: Being that it's nightfall you guys can rest at Mighty Grotto, get in some more extended actions, rest up, heal injuries, all that jazz and we'll pick back up the following day.
  53. DNA: I used up all my commandeering so I have nothing left
  54. DNA: I'll simply wait for the next day to happen!
  55. Chloe: Missed it. Didn't spend actions. Ended the session intending to look around for doctor tracks.
  56. DNA: I do know it was nighttime when the session ended, though that was the only thing I remember.
  57. Chloe: yeah
  58. Kaorin Sakura: So, what's happening here?
  59. Chloe: We're starting at the morning
  60. Chloe: sounds like at least.
  61. Kaorin Sakura: I'm asking.
  62. Kaorin Sakura: Do we continue from where we left off - or are we starting in the morning?
  63. Chloe: Waiting for everyone else then. My vote is in the morning.
  64. DNA: Morning.
  65. Kaorin Sakura: 'kay.
  66. Kaorin Sakura: February 11th, 1549. Wednesday.
  67. Temperature: Cold
  68. High: 22°F (-6°C)
  69. Low: 7°F (-14°C)
  70. Relative: Colder than normal
  71. Wind Force: Light Wind: A gentle breeze, having little or no game effect.
  72. Wind Speed: 10 mph (16 kph)
  73. Kaorin Sakura: 0758 AM
  74. Kaorin Sakura: Dunno why I added AM
  75. DNA: Is it because you like the radio?
  76. Twilight melted away, majestic sunrise, red orange glow seeping over the horizon as if the light itself was being poured from a molten sun. Powerful rays flood over the landscape lighting every blade of grass, shining from each leaf.
  77. Chronicler: By the time you awaken the Charley's are already up and about. May was getting the store ready while Jospeh was speaking to two Guards by the entrance.
  78. Rochette: "Would you like any help setting up the store?"
  79. * Saturn Rosewell couldn't help but notice the temperature felt like back home. Granted, it was probably a tiny bit warmer here, because they actually could see the sun.
  80. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe awoke slowly, snuggled close to her Sunkern Doll. She packed it away, took her morning meds and clipped and tended her berries. 3 | 3
  81. May Charley: "No, not at all. I'm used to this."
  82. Rochette: "If you're certain. Thought I should offer my help, since you let us sleep here overnight."
  83. * Natasha was still sleeping. She always woke up late for whatever reason, and had to be forced awake. Today, though, Saturn decided to let her sleep in.
  84. May Charley: "I did so hoping you'd find the doctor. So you needn't feel obligated."
  85. Chloe Blanchett: Fully dressed Chloe made her way downstairs, giving May a bow as she saw her. "Good morning, thank you again for letting us stay. Would it be trouble if we used your bath?"
  86. May Charley: "Ah? Well, yes actually. I'm needed at the store and wouldn't be able to heat the water for you."
  87. Saturn Rosewell: "Heat the water, huh? What would that require?"
  88. Chloe Blanchett: "I understand, thank you anyway."
  89. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe kept her smile, even though she felt disapointed. She wouldn't get a chance to try out her new perfume without the scent fighting with three days of cave adventures.
  90. May Charley: "My own or Joe's supervision mostly. I mean, you could probably heat the water yourselves but-I'm just not comfortable with anyone but Joe and myself using fire near our home."
  91. Rochette: "Entirely understandable."
  92. Saturn Rosewell: "...all right. That'd be fair enough."
  93. Chloe Blanchett: "Unless we all take a bath with Natasha, she can probably heat the water without flame."
  94. Chronicler: The guards nod to Jospeh and he to them before the guards exit the building.
  95. Rochette: "No."
  96. Saturn Rosewell: "Absolutely not!"
  97. Natasha: "zzzzzzz-wha?-mmph-zzzzzzz..."
  98. Joseph Charley: Joseph Charley turns to Saturn as she raises her voice.
  99. Joseph Charley: Joseph Charley steps over to the group and looks at everyone, "Everything okay?"
  100. Rochette: "We were just discussing the issues with the bathing situation. Chloe made an uncomfortable suggestion, and Saturn is given to emotional responses."
  101. Saturn Rosewell: "I'm just...not very good around people."
  102. Rochette: "Emotional is not a bad thing. Just... loud."
  103. Joseph Charley: "I'd appreciate if they would be accompanied with a bit of less sound."
  104. Joseph Charley: "People generally don't awaken around here until later in the morning."
  105. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe flinched, "I-I wasn't suggesting..." She grew quiet.
  106. Rochette: "Understood. Was there a problem last night?"
  107. Saturn Rosewell: "S-...Sorry..." Her voice returned to its usual quiet self.
  108. Joseph Charley: "And while our bath is unavailable to you if you have any Fire Pokémon there should be a spring a bit west."
  109. Natasha: "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
  110. Joseph Charley: "It's a little bit of a ways offroad toward Vertwyvern - where old Cerulean is."
  111. Chloe Blanchett: "I am too... I didn't mean all of us, just Natasha first to heat the water. It...came out wrong."
  112. Chloe Blanchett: "Getting wet in this weather sounds dangerous."
  113. Joseph Charley: "And no, there's been no problems."
  114. Rochette: "Understood. Unless we have any further business in town, we should get going soon. I suppose the guards visiting were making sure -we- didn't cause any trouble, then?"
  115. Joseph Charley: "Oh, is that what you're going on about? The Guards stop by here every morning."
  116. Rochette: "Ah, I see. Authority figures tend to put me on edge, as I usually wouldn't see one unless an emergency was happening nearby."
  117. * Rochette looks to the others. "Do you need to do anything else in this town?"
  118. Chloe Blanchett: "I was wondering how the miltank was doing, but nothing important."
  119. Saturn Rosewell: "N...Not really, no..." Saturn was still reluctant to speak at anything above a whisper, after the sudden attention grab.
  120. Chloe Blanchett: "Oh, I did consider buying another mega-stone before we leave."
  121. Rochette: "Understood. I'll be waiting at the west gate."
  122. Saturn Rosewell: "I guess I'll...go wait outside too."
  123. * Rochette bows her head to the two store-keepers, before heading out.
  124. * Rochette then moves to the west gate and the guards there. "Excuse me, may I have a moment of your time?"
  125. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe follows May to wherever she would set up work to go about purchasing a second Mega Evolution Stone.
  126. Joseph Charley: (( Sec, loading images ))
  127. Joseph Charley: (( Stuipd lag. ))
  128. May Charley: "Do you know for whom this stone will be bound?"
  129. Chloe Blanchett: "My Vivillon Mimsy."
  130. Ava Jean: Ava Jean turns toward Rochette and raises an eyebrow, "What is it?"
  131. DNA: "ava"
  132. DNA: hahaha
  133. May Charley: "Alright. Select your stone and pay its cost (2500). Afterward you can show me your Vivillon and I'll bind it to her."
  134. Mimsy: Mimsy is let loose in a safe spot in the store~
  135. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe found a stone and brought it over, this one with a sweeping, elegant style to it.
  136. Rochette: "I'm sure you gave your report already, but we've been set to finding the absent doctor. Could you tell me anything unusual about the nights leading up to his disappearance, and the night itself?"
  137. May Charley: May Charley looks intently at Mimsy and focuses for a moment. The once empty stone suddenly shines with a radiant glow. She hands the stone over to Chloe, "May your new Mega Stone bring you good fortune. You also realize that you may only ever attune one Mega Stone to your Mega Accessory at a time, right?"
  138. Chloe Blanchett: "I... I didn't. How do I do this?"
  139. Ava Jean: "Unusual? Lady, this is a small village with a very closeknit relationship of its people. This isn't a big city or something where anything unusual wouldn't be investigated immediately."
  140. Ava Jean: "About the only strange thing that may have happened was the good doctor wife's untimely death."
  141. Rochette: "I see. I didn't mean to offend, but had hoped there might be some hint that could be followed up outside of the town."
  142. May Charley: "You just tune your Mega Accessory to the stone of which you want it to use. Then, give the stone to the Pokémon of which it is bound. When you activate your Mega Accessory your Pokémon will Mega Evolve. The catch is that your Mega Accessory may only ever be attuned to a single Mega Stone."
  143. Ava Jean: "No, we're pretty sure the man is just grieving and confused. Could you imagine being a father of a newly born child and having to watch your wife die in the same moment?"
  144. Chloe Blanchett: "And I can switch them?"
  145. Rochette: "I could not, as my parents abandoned me to fight the swarm nine years ago. I don't have a good idea of how a parent -should- be, at this point."
  146. May Charley: "You can switch what your Mega Accessory is attuned to, yes. It would probably be best to plan out which Mega Evolution you wish to use at the start of the day. It likely won't be possible you'll be able to attune your Mega Accessory again at a moment's notice."
  147. May Charley: (( IE: Attuning your Mega Accessory is an extended action. ))
  148. May Charley: (( Subject to change - As this is the first time it's come up in the campaign. ))
  149. May Charley: (( But - point being: You can only have one Mega Evolved Pokemon on your team at a time. ))
  150. Rochette: "I hope that you are right about him only having left to grieve."
  151. Chloe Blanchett: "I see. Thanks for the advice, I would have gotten myself in trouble if I expected it to work without that. I'll be heading out now, thank you for everything! I hope we can meet again." Chloe waved as she walked out the door.
  152. Ava Jean: "It was more of the loss of someone dear and the weight of a newborn being dependent upon you in the same hour. We are certain he left of his own choice."
  153. May Charley: May Charley waves goodbye to Chloe.
  154. Rochette: "Indeed, the lack of any obvious signs of struggle suggest no kidnapping. It's what he did after he left that may be worth concern. A doctor who had to leave a town full of ill people to attend to his wife, and then said wife dies. That's... a lot of potential guilt."
  155. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe walked with a smile to her step, greeting Rochette as she walked up to the gate. She took out her Vesplague Mega Stone and began attempting to attune it to her ring.
  156. * Saturn Rosewell was listening to the conversation, but said nothing.
  157. Ava Jean: "The good doctor was always so excited about his coming child. We're hoping that the child will keep the good doctor wanting to live. But everything from this point it just speculation. Until such a time where evidence can be shown about anything I'm not interested in."
  158. Ava Jean: "Is there anything else I could assist you with?"
  159. Rochette: "No, you've answered the only question I needed to ask. If he'd been acting strangely, you probably would've mentioned it already. Thank you."
  160. Chronicler: Chloe is able to attune her MEvocessory.
  161. * Rochette turns to the rest of the Winter Lotus. "Let's set out. We should check the path to Vertwyvern for recent travel."
  162. Saturn Rosewell: "...Sounds like a plan. You guys will probably have better eyes than me, but I'll be watching for stuff."
  163. Chloe Blanchett: "Do you want to pick up the doctor's trail, if we can?"
  164. Rochette: "That would be ideal. I have no tracking pokemon myself, however."
  165. Chloe Blanchett: "I've got my eyes, and you've got knowledge on the wilderness, we might be able to manage."
  166. Avara: and so we set out?
  167. Avara: shall we make perception checks?
  168. Chronicler: Before you do a thing.
  169. Chronicler: I would very much like to know the path of which you are taking from Esterhedge Village.
  170. Avara: west gate, which leads south
  171. Avara: going towards vertwyvern
  172. Avara: which is also south and west
  173. Chronicler: Going south using the road?
  174. Chloe Blanchett: it might be best to search around the town first, to see if he went in any odd direction.
  175. Avara: that is the intention, until we find marks that the doctor didn't use the road
  176. Avara: we can do that first, if you want.
  177. Avara: there's no shelters or anything in quick distance of the town, from what i recall.
  178. Chronicler: You guys can give a quick search around town together (which can also include up to one of your Pokemon).
  179. Chronicler: Each.
  180. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: Would it be possible to use Focus instead of Perception for this? or is that a stretch?
  181. Chronicler: It'll take around 2 hours of time to search the entire perimeter.
  182. Avara: sounds like a good idea.
  183. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe and Mimsy!
  184. Chronicler whispers: Focus does not deal with what Perception does.
  185. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe
  186. Avara: ro will use Fens to help
  187. Chloe Blanchett: Mimsy
  188. Saturn Rosewell: Saturn and Finch!
  189. Saturn Rosewell: Perception 2d6+2 .
  190. Finch: Perception 5d6+4 .
  191. Chronicler: ...
  192. Avara: finch has exactly 1 more perception bonus than fens
  193. Chronicler: Well: You humans are just bad.
  194. * Finch is a BEAST!
  195. Chloe Blanchett: Even Chloe? : (
  196. DNA: Saturn isn't really invested in perception, soz...
  197. Avara: to be fair, we humans have a cap on our skill levels until something like TL13
  198. Chronicler: Mimsy, Fens and Finch all point at the thing all you humans, and the humans of the town, have so wonderfully missed.
  199. Finch: "!"
  200. Chronicler: You guys can have like: 5d6 at LV7
  201. Chloe Blanchett: ((Chloe does have 5d6, unless I mistyped))
  202. Chronicler: But anyways:
  203. Chronicler: No, you just rolled terribly.
  204. Chronicler: You got a 12.
  205. DNA: Can I ask how Saturn did?
  206. Chronicler: Your Pokémon all point out a rather large trail moving through the wilderness just south of the town.
  207. Chronicler: 8
  208. DNA: I'm okay with that
  209. Chloe Blanchett: "Interesting, nice eyes Mimsy. Good to have you in the sky."
  210. DNA: A trail of what? Footprints?
  211. Rochette: "Thanks Fens, Finch, Mims."
  212. Mimsy: (O_O)
  213. * Finch bowed respectfully.
  214. * Fens nods, sticking to any possible shadows or less bright areas while out and about. She still wasn't used to being in sunlight.
  215. Finch: Finch was going to be out in place of Natasha, for now.
  216. Chronicler: The trail seems to have been caused by something heavy and roughly 2-meters wide. It's a path of something that dug into the earth - perhaps something heavy was dragged this way?
  217. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe recalled Mimsy.
  218. * Rochette will keep Fens out for now.
  219. * Rochette starts following the trail.
  220. * Finch and Saturn are close behind, eager to see where this might lead.
  221. Avara: so, i guess we're heading south via wilderness trail
  222. Chloe Blanchett: "I used to walk down trails like these all the time when I was younger." Chloe said, a voice just begging to go explore.
  223. Saturn Rosewell: "There weren't really very many trees around where I were. Most of them were just covered in ash."
  224. Saturn Rosewell: "And petrified."
  225. Avara: what's the trail like? all grass, or are there some trees?
  226. Chronicler: You follow the trail for quite some time, going through hills and wooded areas. The snow seems to haven't touched this area but the tree's obviously know what season it is - as they're bare of any leaves.
  227. Chloe Blanchett: "You're from Hoenn, right? I hear that place is famous for volcanic activity."
  228. Saturn Rosewell: "Yeah. Lived downwind from Chimney."
  229. Saturn Rosewell: "The sun is really bright and the air is really clean here."
  230. Chronicler: The trail suddenly becomes difficult to track once the area begins to become cluttered with dry dead leaves. Another Perception check to resume the trail.
  231. Saturn Rosewell: Perception 2d6+2 .
  232. Finch: Perception 5d6+4 .
  233. Chloe Blanchett: Perception
  234. Chronicler: Chloe's eyes seem to be the first to lock-on to the trail in the distance, going just over a large hill. Finch and Fens both pick up the trail leading in the same direction.
  235. Rochette: Rochette loses 0 hit points.
  236. * Finch nods and jumps in the indicated direction.
  237. Rochette: (forgot to fix ro's health after healing injury during rest)
  238. Avara: finally totally injury-free again~
  239. * Rochette shifts to move through the shadows of trees and bushes and tall grass as they approach the hill, hoping to get a good look without getting immediately spotted as well.
  240. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe keeps an eye out, looking for anything curious on their trail. Her hiking experience lending her to be quick to link up different parts of paths to create a whole.
  241. Rochette: stealth
  242. Chloe Blanchett: Perception of General Curiosity
  243. * Saturn Rosewell is keeping watch around the area, trying to scan anything moving or living around the area. Intuition 4d6+1 !
  244. Chronicler: So, are you going up the hill or around it?
  245. Avara: ro is attempting to sneak up the hill.
  246. Chronicler: And everyone else?
  247. Saturn Rosewell: I'll probably be following Rochette...?
  248. Fens: Fens will attempt to stealth up the hill as well, using a different path from Rochette but staying close.
  249. Eclipse is disconnected.
  250. Eclipse is disconnected.
  251. DNA: dammit Eclipse don't go to sleep mode
  252. Avara: try running a youtube playlist on loop as the active window.
  253. DNA: HA!
  254. DNA: nice try but I already made that mistake
  255. Eclipse has connected.
  256. Avara: ... 'k. it keeps sleep mode from activating, if you don't want to find a way to just disable sleep mode altogether
  257. Chronicler: Chloe? Are you going up the hill or around?
  258. Chloe Blanchett: If Chloe sees Rochette sneaking, Chloe will too. Stealth
  259. DNA: I think it's disabled. I found it odd because it never slept before while on the server.
  260. DNA: If I need to stealth check too, let me know
  261. Avara: would be advisable unless you're just that far behind us
  262. Saturn Rosewell: Finch and I both have Stealth 2d6+2, so here's mine: and here's Finch's: .
  263. * Finch is a sneaky little Infiltrator.
  264. Avara: ... i always forget about Infiltrator when doing stealth checks. >>
  265. Chronicler: As the three of climb up the hill, attempting to be as quiet as possible something at the top manages to hear you. Just as you reach the top you see a pair of horns descend into a small hole at the top of the hill.
  266. Chronicler: (( three of you*+ ))
  267. Avara: do we have time to activate a priority move?
  268. Chronicler: It wouldn't help you even if you did.
  269. Avara: ...
  270. Avara: was going to run up and smack it with a flinch with Ambush. but ok
  271. Chronicler: I'm aware. And by the time you got to the top, it had already shifted away. You just caught a glimpse or a part of it. Ambush wouldn't have helped you.
  272. * Rochette runs up to the hole, looking in
  273. Finch: Finch wonders if that thing was a Pokemon. Edu Pkmn 3d6+4 .
  274. Avara: how big is the hole?
  275. Chronicler: The three of you are now at the top of the hill - with a singular hole at its top.
  276. DNA: inb4 it's a giant anthill
  277. Chloe Blanchett: Does the trail continue anywhere? Or does it lead to this specific hill?
  278. Chronicler whispers: Finch believes them to be the horns of a Houndoom.
  279. Finch: Finch hm?s.
  280. Chloe Blanchett: "It seems whatever we were following went down this hole..." Chloe whispered.
  281. Finch: "Whakaaro ahau ko reira he Houndoom. Kia tupato."
  282. Rochette: (DNA, whisper me the translation?)
  283. You whisper to Avara: "I think it was a houndoom. Be careful."
  284. Finch: done
  285. Rochette: "Looks like there's a ladder into a stone bunker or something. Finch says it might've been a houndoom." She recalls Fens and heads down first.
  286. Finch: "!?"
  287. Chloe Blanchett: "Maybe a hybrid?" Chloe asked.
  288. * Finch doesn't like his odds with a Houndoom...
  289. Chloe Blanchett: "It might be a good idea to ask."
  290. Saturn Rosewell: "Oh dear..."
  291. Saturn Rosewell: "We should go after her, Chloe."
  292. Chronicler: It's been a few moments since Rochette descended.
  293. * Saturn Rosewell plans to descend right away, with Finch in tow.
  294. * Saturn Rosewell does so now!
  295. * Rochette keeps heading down. She doesn't bother with being sneaky--obviously she's already been noticed.
  296. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe looked down, "Maybe- ah!" Chloe was surprised by Saturn's decent as well. "I hope they don't get too mad we're breaking in..." she said before jumping down herself.
  297. Saturn Rosewell: "I don't know what she's thinking, but I'm not letting her down there alone..."
  298. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe nodded.
  299. Chloe Blanchett: She stayed close behind Saturn.
  300. * Rochette knocks on the wall near the next room over.
  301. Chronicler: The both of you find that the place grows dark after descending a bit - and also find that the interior of the hill is entirely stone. Below you - you can see a flickering light - possibly candlelight.
  302. Chronicler: A male voice calls in from the other room, "I was hoping you wouldn't follow. Leave your weapons sheathed and step in."
  303. Chronicler: Both Chloe and Saturn can hear the voice calling below them. Rochette must've made it to the bottom already.
  304. * Saturn Rosewell hurries further downward, to the direction of the voice, and hopefully, to Rochette.
  305. * Finch was still not comfortable with the idea, especially being below-ground.
  306. Chloe Blanchett: "I don't have any weapons." Chloe said. She followed the voice's instructions, stepping in the room.
  307. Chronicler: Chloe you didn't make it to the bottom yet.
  308. Rochette: "Understood." She steps in slowly, looking around.
  309. Chronicler: You and Saturn are still descending.
  310. Chronicler: Saturn makes it down to the bottom of the ladder - followed by Chloe.
  311. Chronicler: You find yourself in a circular room with a single exit deeper into the stone-like place. This place was handmade and there are piles of hay, wooden barrels and wooden boxes literred about. The candlelight appears to be coming in from the next room.
  312. Rochette: "Ah, the good doctor I presume?"
  313. Norman Harkness: "You can call me Doctor Harkness. You know me but I don't know you. What do you want?"
  314. DNA: (Are Chloe and Saturn on the outside of that room, or the inside?)
  315. Chronicler: Outside.
  316. DNA: (Thought so.)
  317. Chloe Blanchett: ((So he wasn't talking to us then?))
  318. DNA: (no, just Rochette.)
  319. Chronicler: No.
  320. Rochette: "Rochette Higsby of the Winter Lotus adventure group, with two of my allies coming in behind me. We were tasked with locating you, as the town is worried." She looks to the woman, then back to the man. "I can guess why you didn't want to head back, though."
  321. Chronicler: Yeah, just Rochette. She used the ladder a good deal before both of you.
  322. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe stayed quiet.
  323. * Saturn Rosewell heard Rochette mention 'two of my allies'. She pondered whether or not to knock, but was shy and reluctant to do so.
  324. Chronicler: There is no door separating the two rooms. Just an open walkway.
  325. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness looks away as Rochette looks at her and then makes her comment.
  326. Norman Harkness: "You have nothing to be ashamed of, sweetheart."
  327. Rochette: "Indeed, I don't judge."
  328. DNA: Can Chloe or Saturn see these people from that distance?
  329. Norman Harkness: "Tell your friends they can enter - as long as they keep their weapons holsted."
  330. Chronicler: You'd need to at least step into the walkway.
  331. DNA: All right then.
  332. Chloe Blanchett: Chloe took a step into the room, looking embarrassed. "S-sorry to intrude..."
  333. Rochette : "Would you like me to tell the town you've perished, moved to a new town, or something similar?"
  334. * Saturn Rosewell follows quietly behind as well, her hands open and in front of her, to prove she is unarmed. ...actually, the rifle is slung across her back, but it's not in her hands.
  335. Saturn Rosewell: (What do Normal and Cherrel look like?)
  336. Saturn Rosewell: Norman, sorry
  337. Norman Harkness: (click this)

  348. Statement Body : case 0: image = getTokenImage(); case 1: image = getTokenPortrait(); case 2: image = getTokenHandout(); default: image = ""
  349. DNA: Nope, sorry, still not working. Just a description with words will do fine by me.
  350. Norman Harkness: (( Still an error? ))
  351. Avara: still error
  352. Chloe Blanchett: yes
  353. Norman Harkness: Norman Harkness has long red hair, green eyes, a slender face and an average build. He wears a long gray coat covering most of his clothes.
  354. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness has long black hair, red eyes, a muscular body, horns and tail of a houndoom. She wears a blue sundress and knee-high squirtle-skin boots.
  355. * Finch understood now. Still, it did make him a tiny bit wary, but that was only his instincts as a Grass-type.
  356. Chronicler: When you step into the room, you find yourself in what appears to be both a home and a lab. Behind both Norman and Cherrel you can see a baby's crib.
  357. Saturn Rosewell: "......I'm...just going to go wait outside..."
  358. * Saturn Rosewell walked back through the walkway, but stayed right outside the room, not ascending the ladder.
  359. Cherrel Harkness: Handout (click this)
  360. Chloe Blanchett: Works!
  361. Avara: indeed
  362. Cherrel Harkness: (( Good to know. ))
  363. DNA: Works perfectly
  364. Chronicler: You guys can place whatever in the white box.
  365. Norman Harkness: Handout (click this)
  366. Avara: stuck on loading the last--there we go
  367. Avara: are we using the white box as a map?
  368. Norman Harkness: If you guys wanna impersonate there.
  369. Chronicler: This is where I keep the cast.
  370. DNA: I'll just keep doing so from my box, but I thank you for the offer.
  371. Chronicler: Makes it easier if the macro just works.
  372. Avara: i prefer to impersonate on my box page for now, but we'll see how things go
  373. Chloe: (I'll use cast page, I like seeing handouts)
  374. Avara: the handouts appear even if you're not there, i think.
  375. Avara: just has to be available
  376. DNA: ^
  377. Chloe: (Lets test, can we see May?)
  378. Chronicler: Sue.
  379. Chronicler: Sure*
  380. May Charley: Handout (click this)
  381. Avara: i got an error.
  382. DNA: Testing. I have to be on the same map.
  383. Chloe: Works
  384. Chloe: beauty~
  385. Avara: 'kay
  386. DNA: Eclipse is on Cast; DNA is not. Eclipse loaded it fine; DNA got an error.
  387. Avara: moving to cast box
  388. Chronicler: If you prefer to impersonate from your box, just click Cast before clicking the handout.
  389. DNA: The error (and handout) automatically happen right when the link is dropped
  390. Chronicler: T_T
  391. Chloe: (That works too, just don't have the handout automatically pop up)
  392. DNA: Moving to cast will still load it fine, but it's just an error will pop up in the log.
  393. DNA: Not a big deal; I control the logs so I can delete the errors later.
  394. Avara: let's do the thing where we talk to NPCs?
  395. DNA: And Eclipse is on Cast, so I can look.
  396. DNA: yes let's
  397. Chronicler whispers: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/595315
  398. Norman Harkness: "I didn't think they would send a group of outsiders to look for me. They must really be desperate."
  399. Chloe: "It sounded like they were worried. But it also sounded like they didn't know or weren't telling us the whole story..."
  400. Norman Harkness: Norman Harkness turns to the Houndoom woman and places a hand on her shoulder, "But I won't put my family at risk."
  401. Finch: Finch still kept his eyes and ears open, despite being outside the room.
  402. Cherrel Harkness: "They don't know who I really am."
  403. Rochette: "As I said, we can pass along an excuse for your absence. Death, moving to a new village to 'escape the memories', things of that nature."
  404. Rochette: "We need only a piece of 'evidence'."
  405. Cherrel Harkness: "I always wore a hat and uncomfortably coiled my tail in pants. They didn't know what I really was."
  406. Rochette: "I'm guessing the baby bears marks of heritage as well. Can't hide them properly, so you'd lose your cover. Hence faking your death?"
  407. Cherrel Harkness: "She looks so much like a Houndoom..."
  408. Norman Harkness: "It's gorgeous. And I knew the people of Esterhedge wouldn't understand."
  409. Rochette: "May I see the chlid?"
  410. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness glares at you as you request.
  411. Norman Harkness: "No."
  412. Chloe: "I was told that the dislike of pokemon was a nasty rumor... I suppose you have a better first hand account?"
  413. Rochette: "Very well."
  414. Norman Harkness: "What sort of evidence were you looking for?"
  415. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness blinks as she hears Chloe.
  416. Norman Harkness: "W-Well...no. I didn't see anything but I always figured that's because neither of us were Pokémon."
  417. Rochette: "If you were dead, your body... in this case, a piece of bloody clothes marred with bite marks would suffice. Such can probably be faked given time. If you wish to be covered as moving, a note with weather and wilderness damage."
  418. Chloe: "They seem upset about the rumors, and shut themselves off because of it. I didn't stay for long, but it seems like misundertandings surrounded that village."
  419. Rochette: "I didn't see much in the way of signs of conflict around the town, but I would need to do another search with Fens' aid if I wanted to be sure."
  420. Norman Harkness: "Are...are you suggesting we go back?"
  421. Cherrel Harkness: "With the way my child and I look?"
  422. * Rochette looks to Chloe.
  423. Chloe: "If you decided to, I would come with you. But, no I wasn't suggesting that. I'm just trying to figure out the whats and whys."
  424. Rochette: "If you want a town that would be good to raise your child in, I would suggest attempting Fairview to the east. They make a policy of befriending local pokemon to avoid being attacked."
  425. Cherrel Harkness: "How do they feel about my kind?"
  426. Rochette: "I have not seen any there, but it isn't exactly common to come across hybrids in my experience. I haven't heard anything of them hating hybrids..." she thinks. (gen knowledge roll incoming)
  427. Rochette: (gen knowledge rumors about fairview and hybrids)
  428. * Saturn Rosewell glanced over her shoulder briefly upon hearing Rochette's latest statement...but then promptly looked away again, still sitting outside.
  429. Rochette: "To my knowledge there hasn't been any news in either good or bad ways about Fairview and hybrids."
  430. Chloe: "I always assumed people were friendly. Have you faced problems in the past?"
  431. Rochette: "The townships seem laregly divided and isolated. It's very likely for each town to have varying values and perceptions. Where one town may be distrustful or hateful, another could be loving and heartwarmingly accepting." She shrugs. "People are weird, because they are people. Differences happen."
  432. Norman Harkness: "We've had open dislike of our relationship. It's why we never stayed in one place."
  433. Cherrel Harkness: "The later stages of my pregnancy were the only reason we stayed in Esterhedge."
  434. Rochette: "Fairview is worth a shot. They have the friendship-with-pokemon policy, and they lack a proper doctor..." she thinks. "Drop our name if they start giving you trouble. As I recall, they feel a lot of gratitude towards us for their new revenue."
  435. Rochette: "Should that fail, there are two nearby locations you can find shelter. My home, or the current location of a group of immortals."
  436. Chloe: "I'm sorry to hear that. But... May of Esterhedge asked me to tell you 'to come back home' if I met you on the road."
  437. Rochette: "Those are, of course, listed in order of safety and convenience for child-rearing. The sisters do not have an ideal condition for children... it would be my last choice, personally. They themselves are fine, but you would need to get permission to modify quite a bit for safety reasons."
  438. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness looks away as she ponders the options.
  439. Norman Harkness: "You two seem to be saying conflicting things."
  440. Rochette: "We are not unified. Consider us as giving you all of your options."
  441. Norman Harkness: "Unless I'm hearing wrong, one of you is suggesting we try our luck with Esterhedge and the other is suggesting we go to Fairview."
  442. * Rochette looks to Chloe. "Esterhedge's reputation may or may not be deserved. That can be investigated -after- the child's safety is secured."
  443. Chloe: "I agree, Fairview would be safe. And if you want safety that's where you should go. But I've got a knot in my gut, I'd feel terrible if this was all just a misunderstanding."
  444. * Rochette looks to Norman. "You could keep in contact with Esterhedge through letters, perhaps? I'm willing to put further investigation into the reputation matters, but... as I said, only after the child's safety is secured."
  445. Rochette: ((brb))
  446. Chloe: "There is another reason we did want to find you. There's a posting asking adventurers to investigate the Verywyvern disease, that's where we are heading next."
  447. Cherrel Harkness: "I think what they're saying deserves some looking into, love."
  448. Cherrel Harkness: "Why don't you go take a look at this Fairview and speak with its founder. Explain our situation to them and see how they respond."
  449. Cherrel Harkness: "Don't talk to anyone else though. We don't need word reaching Esterhedge about us."
  450. Norman Harkness: "I can do that. Now, what about Firesong?"
  451. Chloe: "We don't need to tell them anything. We can leave that up to you to do at your own pace, if ever."
  452. DNA: please tell me firesong is still the name of the disease and not the name of the child
  453. Chloe: "There is an illness, or a poison, I'm not really sure. We just have secondhand accounts, stuff you told people repeated to us."
  454. Cherrel Harkness: "Is that the thing I'm immune to?"
  455. Norman Harkness: "That would be Firesong, yes."
  456. Chloe: "We did hear pokemon were immune to it... maybe that helps? I don't know much about it, and would love to hear anything you do."
  457. Norman Harkness: "It's old."
  458. Norman Harkness: "I'm not sure if people are just constantly exposed to it or if it found a way to replicate in its host without being detected."
  459. Cherrel Harkness: "I've suspected that it came from the mines. Only because the miners were the first to get infected."
  460. Norman Harkness: "Of course the miners aren't in ant condition to explain anything."
  461. Norman Harkness: (( any* ))
  462. Rochette: ((back))
  463. Rochette: ((how common is knowledge about pokerus?))
  464. Rochette: ((or is it even a thing in this world?))
  465. Norman Harkness: "It's a contact disease. So much as touching anyone infected, or any of their fluids, is all it takes to infect you."
  466. Norman Harkness: (( Pokerus exists. We just havent' figured out a way to work it out mechanically. ))
  467. Rochette: "I suppose that means you've had no safe way to acquire a sample for study?"
  468. DNA: Not even the +1 toall stats?
  469. DNA: ...that was bad, I'm sorry
  470. Rochette: ((do i need to roll medical to have ro know about pokerus?))
  471. Norman Harkness: "I don't have the tools to adequately research it. I had to do my research while at Vertwyvern."
  472. Chronicler: (( No. ))
  473. Chloe: "I heard it came from the well too, is it just all of underground?"
  474. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: If I can ask, how is Cherrel immune to Firesong?
  475. Rochette: "Understood. I have my own hypothesis, but I lack any means to verify it."
  476. Rochette: "High virulence and repeatable infection, no harmful effects in pokemon or poke-blooded people. Absurdly simple infection methods all based around contact with the infected... I may sound absurd, as I have no medical training. Could it be an intentionally modified strain of Pokerus?"
  477. Chronicler whispers: Are you curious if you are?
  478. Norman Harkness: "Modified? I wouldn't think so. Perhaps an old one."
  479. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: I'll know once I know what your answer is.
  480. Rochette: "Alright."
  481. Norman Harkness: "But I did have a hypothesis about it being in the water only because they keep getting infected."
  482. Norman Harkness whispers: Well, how would you know how she's immune?
  483. Rochette: "I am not certain if we should go there, given the ease of infection."
  484. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: Though I should add: does 'immune' mean there's no way they could even hold the disease? or does it also include being a carrier?
  485. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: Good question. I'd need to make a check for that,w ouldn't I?
  486. Norman Harkness whispers: Immunity doesn't prevent being a carrier.
  487. Chloe: "Can pokemon serve as carriers?"
  488. You whisper to Kaorin Sakura: Had a feeling.
  489. Norman Harkness: "Yes."
  490. * Finch was a mite worried again. He didn't want to serve as a carrier for a deadly disease. He hoped he'd be back and safe in his Poke Ball long before they got to this Vertwyvern place.
  491. Norman Harkness: "The infection isn't really the problem. I can treat it without fail. It's how it keeps coming back."
  492. Chloe: "Oh? Well that's a relief."
  493. * Saturn Rosewell whispered something to Finch.
  494. Finch: Finch hopped back into the room slowly, and tried to get Rochette's attention.
  495. Rochette: "Good luck with raising your child. I hope that Fairview turns out well for you." She looks over to Finch.
  496. * Finch spoke something in the native dialect.
  497. You whisper to Avara: "My trainer wants to know how the woman is immune to the disease."
  498. Rochette: "Saturn, she's part pokemon."
  499. Rochette: "Pokemon are immune to the disease."
  500. Norman Harkness: "Oh, right. Before I forget...."
  501. Saturn Rosewell: "Is that really all it takes?" Saturn called from outside. "Just being even part Pokemon grants immunity?"
  502. Chloe: "So the disease is treatable by medicine, but is caused by something stranger than most diseases?
  503. * Rochette looks to Norman.
  504. Chloe: "Ah, sorry I interrupted. My mind wanders... what were you saying Norman?"
  505. Norman Harkness: Norman Harkness hands Chloe or Rochette a leather briefcase.
  506. Norman Harkness: "Just a bit of my thanks for not ratting us out and giving us some suggestions."
  507. * Rochette will take the briefcase.
  508. Rochette: "Would you like me to pass on that you're moving to a new town to Esterhedge, or stay quiet on the matter for now?"
  509. Chronicler: Inside you will find a schematic for Confuse Toxins. As well as a 10 vials of Confusion Coating Poisons (+6 DC).
  510. Norman Harkness: "I'd prefer you remain about it for now. Until I know how Fairview is about the whole thing."
  511. Rochette: "Understood."
  512. Norman Harkness: "I didn't see anything special about the disease really. I just couldn't pinpoint on how people continue to get sick with the disease right after being treated. It's more of a mystery of how it continues to enter their system than anything special. It's why I thought it may have been the water."
  513. Chloe: "I'm glad we found you. The people we asked in Esterhedge made the whole thing sound like it was going to be more magic than medicine."
  514. Rochette: "Indeed. I am also glad that the situation with your family turned out this way. I had been worried you'd done something... stupid."
  515. Chloe: "Mmhm!"
  516. Chloe: "I'm going to check on Saturn, if you have any more questions Rochette."
  517. Chloe: Chloe took a step out of the room to find Saturn, "Are you alright?" She asked.
  518. Saturn Rosewell: "...I really don't feel comfortable here, that's all."
  519. Finch: Finch had quietly made his way back to the top of her hat again.
  520. Rochette: "You two and your child... good luck. My family was split because of the invasion nine years ago, so it would be good to be able to hlep that not happen to someone else."
  521. Chloe: Chloe took one of Saturn's hands with both of her own and squeezed assuringly. "We'll be on the road again soon, and it sounds like we'll be safe."
  522. Norman Harkness: "Much appreciated."
  523. Saturn Rosewell: "...I certainly hope so. It looks like a trip to Vertwyvern seems unavoidable, though... at least we know a little." She didn't seem to respond to Chloe's hand-squeeze at all.
  524. * Rochette bows, and heads out of the room.
  525. Chloe: "We know how to avoid illness and know who to go to if we catch it."
  526. Chloe: "Oh!" Chloe turned to Rochette, "Can you ask them if we can get some water? If it's going to be dangerous to drink there."
  527. Rochette: "... you can ask them. They're not hostile anymore... and can probably hear us."
  528. Chloe: "I know, I was just..." Chloe paused, then let go of Saturn's hand. She walked back into the room and repeated her question, adding a little exception, " - or do you know where we can find some fresh water to carry there?"
  529. * Rochette walks over to Saturn and gives her a shoulder pat.
  530. Cherrel Harkness: "Any rivers north of Vertwyvern is fine.
  531. Cherrel Harkness: "But we can give you some water."
  532. Norman Harkness: "Also if any of you could get your hands on a filter somehow, that'd be really helpful you if you go down south. Assuming my hypothesis is right - the places south are likely to be the next hit for that disease."
  533. Cherrel Harkness: Cherrel Harkness hands Chloe a jug of water.
  534. Chloe: "Thank you. Esterhedge is not a good place for supplies, so we just need enough to get us through our visit."
  535. Chloe: Chloe hoists the jug, carrying it in both arms.
  536. Chronicler: The jug holds 1 gallon of water.
  537. Cherrel Harkness: "They're isolationists as far as I could tell."
  538. Chloe: "They are." Chloe agreed.
  539. Chloe: She bowed her head again and took a step out the door, "Shall we get going?"
  540. Rochette: "Indeed."
  541. * Saturn Rosewell got up from her seated position quickly.
  542. Saturn Rosewell: "Yeah, let's hurry up and go."
  543. Rochette: "You can ascend the ladder first, if you wish."
  544. Saturn Rosewell: "...all right."
  545. * Saturn Rosewell made to ascend the ladder first.
  546. * Rochette will go up second.
  547. Chloe: Chloe worked her jug into the currently encumberless backpack and climbed last.
  548. Chronicler: All of you make out to the top of the hill in a few moments.
  549. Chronicler: I have marked where you guys are on the map.
  550. Avara: shall we return to the proper main road of things?
  551. Chloe: sounds like a plan.
  552. Saturn Rosewell: Fine by me.
  553. Avara: very well then.
  554. Chronicler: By going directly west from the hilltop you can reach the main road again.
  555. DNA: Then from there, we will head south along said pathway, remaining with it.
  556. Avara: indeed
  557. * Finch recalled himself, not wanting to take a chance.
  558. Chronicler: Chronicler calculates the time it will take.
  559. Chronicler: Uneventful and uninterrupted trips south and then west will consumed about 3.5 hours.
  560. Avara: current time is?
  561. Chronicler: 1112
  562. Chronicler: You'll arrive in Vertwyvern Villa at roughly 1445
  563. Avara: ok. can i put in a request for non-military times once we hit the afternoon? i have trouble with doing the conversions quickly
  564. Chronicler: I gave the warning that due to my work (for half a year) it's all I've been using.
  565. DNA: 1445 = 2.45pm
  566. Chronicler: ^
  567. Avara: 'k.
  568. DNA: I'll give conversions if necessary.
  569. DNA: and by that, I mean everything after 1pm
  570. Avara: ok. so...we're walking. once again, eventlessly walking.
  571. Avara: and given the time, i think we can arrive in vertwyvern next session?
  572. Chloe: Chloe has a beautiful time walking through the brisk weather with her friends at her side.
  573. Chronicler: When you reach vertwyvern you find the town nearly deserted. There's a church, a pub, an inn, three shops, a residential district, the road to the mines, a crop field and an area full of a variety of field Pokemon.
  574. Chronicler: There's a single woman tending to the crops with no one else walking the village.
  575. Chronicler: Did people want to stop here or did folks want to progress into Vertwyvern?
  576. DNA: I'm game for either. I have a lean towards progress, since I want to get stuff done, but if we would rather wait for Trul later on, that is also fine.
  577. Chronicler: I figured Trul not being here would be an indicator.
  578. Chronicler: He already missed the whole 'good doctor' thing.
  579. Avara: preference for stopping. would like trul to get in on this part
  580. DNA: Then halt we shall.
  581. Chronicler: Okay. In that case:
  582. Chronicler: 2 TXP. 45 PKMN XP.
  583. * Avara proceeds to hug EVERYONE
  584. DNA: Calculated as level 7.5
  585. Chronicler: Ending weather (for start of next)
  586. Chronicler: Description: Cloudy
  587. Temperature: Cold

  594. Chronicler: Wednesday.
