  1. [hr][center][color=#38761d][size=4]Complete guide to staffing on TTT[/color][/center]
  2. [br][center][color=#0b5394]Becoming Staff and Climbing the Ranks[/color][/center]
  3.
  4. This is for new players of the server seeking to become staff. Through my time staffing and reviewing staff apps, there is a constant threat that people new to the community get parts wrong and making mistakes are ok but this guide goes through everything you need to know. There are two other guides [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/96108-guide-how-to-make-the-best-application#779496]one made by Raeker[/url] - former Community Manager and before this, a TTT Head Administrator - and [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/ttt/74362-ttt-guide-to-becoming-a-staff-member]one made by TheXnator[/url] - Community Developer. They are both very good and I would recommend reading them but TheXnator’s does not include how to write the application and Raeker’s is only about the Moderator app. I draw inspiration from both and try to improve on them.
  5.
  6. First the ranking system people higher up on the list have higher power and authority than the people lower down. If someone higher up contradicts someone lower down listen to the person higher up.

  35. [/center]
  36.
  37. [hr][center][b][color=#00ffff][size=4]Moderator:[/color][/b][/center]
  38.
  39. The first rank I’m going to cover has the least power and in my opinion is a trial rank this is moderator. This is the first rank you will be applying for and is most important as first impressions matter. First, before considering becoming staff there are some recommendations we have.
  40.
  41. [b]Activity:[/b]
  42. We recommend two weeks of consistent activity. Consistent meaning you get activity every day without gaps for two consecutive weeks or a fortnight. You can check this by going on [url=https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/]the TTT GameTracker[/url] and searching your exact steam name. Note that letter case and spacing matter. Then on the right, there will be an activity graph set it to the last 30 days and see if you have the activity for the past 14 days.
  43.
  44. [b]Recent punishments:[/b]
  45. We recommend no or few recents. A “recent punishment” refers to a punishment given within the past 14 days. To find out your punishments just ask any staff member and they will be more than willing to tell you. As I have a lot of experience in meetings one RDM warn can be overlooked. Two to three depends on other things about you - personally, activity etc - 4 or more would usually result in an instant denial but in one case because everything else was outstanding so he got accepted. If you are banned when the meeting takes place - 7:00 local UK time (GMT/BST) every Sunday - your application will get denied no matter what - and if you have a recent ban the chance of getting accepted is very low. If you have just come off a long ban - one month plus - you should wait a bit and prove that you have changed before going for staff. Punishments where you have to go out of your way to get punished - microphone spam, chat spam, all forms of prop abuse, exploiting, ghosting etc. - will be looked at depending on what it is you should apply some common sense for this part on how long you should wait for going for staff.
  46.
  47. [b]Personality:[/b]
  48. We recommend a good personality. Are you generally a nice person to talk with and are you helpful to other users.
  49.
  50. [b]Commands you get:[/b]
  51. Do you think that you are responsible with using these commands and helping the server?
  52. [br][spoiler=Moderator Commands][[b][color=#00ffff]Moderator[/color][/b] +] Warn: Warns a player

  127. Note: It [u]has[/u] to be done in console[/spoiler][br][b]Application:[/b]
  128. Write an application shows what you know about the rules, who you are and why you wish to become a staff member. If you are ready to deal with the RDMers, Prop Abusers and disrespectful players. All you have to do is answer the questions on this template:
  129.
  130. [code][b]Steam Name:[/b]
  131. [b]Link to Steam Profile:[/b]
  132. [b]SteamID:[/b]
  133.
  134. [b]Link to GameTracker for the server:[/b]
  135. [b]Server 1: [/b] http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/
  136.
  137. [b]Languages I speak:[/b]
  138.
  139. [b]Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario:[/b]
  140.
  141. [b]Give three examples of an acceptable KOS and its scenario:[/b]
  142.
  143. [b]Give two examples of unacceptable KOS and their scenarios:[/b]
  144.
  145. [b]Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 100 words):[/b][/code]
  146.
  147. Before we get started writing the application we need a platform to write it on as writing it directly on the ZARP website can be a bit of a pain. I suggest using Google Docs which is completely free and only requires a Google Account [url=https://accounts.google.com/signup/v2/webcreateaccount?hl=en-AU&flowName=GlifWebSignIn&flowEntry=SignUp]you can sign up for free using this link[/url] and then going to [url=https://www.google.co.uk/docs/about/]this link[/url] where you can launch Google Docs so we can properly preview the application and edit it so we will see the final product and then export it as BBCode - what the ZARP forums use to see text colour etc - to do this we need an add-on called “BBcode Export” which will allow you to make the application how you want it to look in Google Docs and then export it.
  148.
  149. [code]Steam Name:[/code]
  150.
  151. This is the easiest one as you simply just need your Steam Name which can found by the ways the images demonstrate but hopefully, you already know it.
  152. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/BmbJJZt.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  153.
  154. [code]Link to Steam Profile:[/code]
  155.
  156. Your Steam Profile is again another easy one and is a URL link to your Steam profile where people can add you as a friend, message you and see the games you play you can find it by following the demonstration in the image below.
  157. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/5DQrL6b.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  158. Just select the link highlighted and hit Ctrl + C and then past in the application.
  159.
  160. [code]Steam ID:[/code]
  161.
  162. As you have your Steam Profile you can now get your Steam ID by going to [url=https://steamid.xyz/]this link[/url] and pasting your steam profile into the box and pressing enter. Demonstrated in the image below.
  163. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/r3Lm8yB.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  164. [b]Note[/b]: [b]Only [/b]SteamID is required not SteamID3 or SteamID64 are needed.
  165.
  166. [code]Link to GameTracker for the server:
  167. Server 1: [url=http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/[\code]http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/[/url] [/code]
  168.
  169. This is one of the easiest parts simply click on this [url=http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/]link[/url] and do as the images show click in the search box and enter your current Steam Name then when you find your name click on it.
  170. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/HtETZIT.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  171. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/Z1oktNk.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  172. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/7cgVq6f.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  173. Copy the URL link and paste it into your application.
  174.
  175. [code]Languages I speak:[/code]
  176.
  177. This literally just means what languages you speak. Not knowing enough languages will not get you denied but not knowing English to an acceptable level can. When you are listing them you should put it in brackets next to it and what level you are at for example:
  178. [list]
  179. [*]English (Fluently)
  180. [*]Spanish (Excellent)
  181. [*]French (Ok)[/list]
  182.
  183.
  184. [code]Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario:[/code]
  185.
  186. Explain Random Death Match - more commonly known as RDM - in your own words and then give an example. I will now give an example of what you might want to say:
  187.
  188. [b]Explain "Random Death Match" and give an example scenario:[/b]
  189. “Random Death Match” more commonly known as RDM is the act of killing someone without a valid reason. An example would be Player x kills Player y because Player y jumped of the Lighthouse.
  190.
  191. Please don’t copy this as you will be called out for copying it and it will be brought up in the meeting. Use something else and only use this as inspiration.
  192.
  193. [code]Give three examples of an acceptable KOS and its scenario:[/code]
  194.
  195. In this section give three examples of an acceptable KOS and an example. Don’t copy word for word what is said in the rules. Here are three examples:
  196.
  197. [b]Give three examples of an acceptable KOS and its scenario:[/b]
  198. [list=1]
  199. [*]Player x KOS’s Player y because Player y threw the Golden Block intentionally into the water.
  200. [*]Player x - Detective - KOS’s Player y because Player y refuses to go into the tester after Player x gives 3 clear warnings in [u]text chat[/u].
  201. [*]Player x KOS’s Player y after Player y walks past an unidentified body.[/list]
  202.
  203.
  204. Please don’t copy this as you will be called you out for copying it and it will brought up in the meeting. Use something else and only use this as inspiration.
  205.
  206. [code]Give two examples of unacceptable KOS and their scenarios:[/code]
  207.
  208. In this section give two examples of an unacceptable KOS and an example. Don’t copy word for word what is said on the rules say. Here are two examples:
  209.
  210. [b]Give two examples of unacceptable KOS and their scenarios:[/b]
  211. [list=1]
  212. [*]Player x - innocent - KOS’s Player y because Player y refuses to go into the tester after Player x gives 3 clear warnings in [u]text chat[/u].
  213. [*]Player x KOS’s Player y after Player y kills Player z - traitor - before anybody are identified.[/list]
  214.
  215.
  216. Please don’t copy this as you will be called you out for copying it and it will be brought up in the meeting. Use something else and use it as inspiration.
  217.
  218. [code]Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 100 words):[/code]
  219.
  220. In this section, you should go over everything that you think is relevant to you becoming staff, for example, you’re kind, active and have played on the server for 2 months. Answer it in the way you want to and make sure you show off everything that is not in the other 9 question that is relevant. This section is a make it or break it section and you should put a lot of effort into it like the rest of your app.
  221.
  222. When you have answered all of the questions add some colour and make it eye-catching so people remember it as a good application I would recommend looking at other applications to get inspiration for the way it looks [b]not[/b] the content in it. Good Luck on getting Moderator and I hope this guide was helpful.
  223.
  224. Also I would recommend using these two Moderator Applications as good places to base yours of. [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/124336-ttt-moderator-nepgear-s-application][color=#00ffff][b]Nepgear's[/b][/color][/url] and [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/123720-ttt-moderator-dr-house-s-application][color=#00ffff][b]Dr. House's[/b][/color][/url].
  225. [hr][center][b][color=#0000ff][size=4]Administrator:[/color][/b][/center]
  226.
  227. This is the second rank and for most the highest they will climb the ladder. As Super Administrator is a big jump from Administrator. Moderator is a very basic rank and has limited commands. If you think you’ve gotten the hang of things and you’re ready to get a premonition. These are some of the things we’re looking for.
  228.
  229. [b]Activity:[/b]
  230. Are you still getting consistent activity since getting accepted? As you climb the ranks activity becomes less important. However for Administrator you still need good consistent activity.
  231.
  232. [b]Active in handling reports:[/b]
  233. This is an essential part of becoming Administrator are you doing stuff for the server. At the Moderator level, this is shown mainly in handling [size=91][color=#414141]in-game[/color][/size], but don’t rush them to get a big number to try and impress the meeting room. If you do this you will potentially be called out for not taking care when handling them and get denied for experience. If you take your time and handle them to the best of your ability then the meeting room will praise you for that and you have a higher chance of getting accepted.
  234.
  235. [b]Recent report abuse:[/b]
  236. This can be a trick to get around even if the report got denied the meeting room can be shaken by it and deny you for having a recent report abuse. In my opinion, it can almost be fatal to have one done on you. If you are unlucky to have this happen then I would suggest waiting one or two weeks before applying for Administrator.
  237.
  238. [b]Attitude:[/b]
  239. This can get to people sometimes. You should always be nice, calm and be friendly with other staff and players [size=91][color=#414141]in-game [/color][/size]and possibly on TeamSpeak but at this stage, TeamSpeak is not a big deal.
  240.
  241. [b]Attending a meeting:[/b]
  242. It is a requirement before applying for Administrator to have attended a meeting and this is very important as most staff attend it. It is where you can prove yourself to them that you are ready for Administrator. If you are unable to attend the meetings for whatever the reason for example time zone difference. Ask a Head Administrator or above for permission to apply for Administrator without attending a meeting.
  243.
  244. [b]New Commands you get:[/b]
  245.
  246. Do you think that you can trust yourself with some of these commands? Some of them do carry a lot of responsibility like the ban command. Here they are.
  247.
  248. [spoiler=Administrator Commands][[b][color=#0000ff]Administrator[/color][/b] +] Tsay: Sends a message to everyone
  249.
  250. [code]@@ [message][/code]

  320. Server 1: [url=https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/]https://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/[/url][/code]
  321.
  322. This is one of the easiest parts simply click on this [url=http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/play.zarpgaming.com:27017/top_players/]link[/url] and do as the images show click in the search box and enter your current Steam Name then when you find your name click on it.

  325. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/7cgVq6f.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  326. Then copy the URL link and past it in.
  327.
  328. [code]Estimated Server Time:[/code]
  329.
  330. This is usually the number that game tracker displays converted into hours - this is what most people do - the image below shows where you can find it on your ZARP TTT GameTracker Profile.
  331. [quote][center][img size=600]https://i.imgur.com/jbE5J8F.png[/img][/center][/quote]
  332. Then take the number and use [url=https://www.google.com/search?q=minutes+to+hours&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB796GB796&oq=minutes&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0j69i61j0l3.6706j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8]this converter[/url] to find the time in minutes and put it in. Although there is a problem with GameTracker your time only starts to count when you get one point or one kill so this might take time so you can add an hour or two depending on how much activity you have.
  333.
  334. [code]Languages I speak:[/code]
  335.
  336. This literally needs what languages you speak you should list them but don't worry if you only know English as it is very rare for you to encounter someone that doesn't speak English but it can happen for time to time. Not knowing enough languages will not get you denied but not know English to an acceptable level can. When you are listing them you should put in brackets next to it at what level you are at for example:
  337. [list]
  338. [*]English (Fluently)
  339. [*]Spanish (Excellent)
  340. [*]French (Ok)[/list]
  341.
  342.
  343. [code]Explain a situation where it would be appropriate to use the ban command:[/code]
  344.
  345. In this section, you need to explain a time where you should use the ban command but you can list more as most people do. So I will give an example of three situations where you would use the ban command:
  346.
  347. [b]Explain a situation where it would be appropriate to use the ban command:[/b]
  348.
  349. [list=1]
  350. [*]Mass RDM + LTAP - Player x kills three plus people and then before action can be taken he/she leaves the game. It would then be appropriate to use the ban command.
  351. [*]Recent Punishments - If a player has seven recents or more and then after he has been given a verbal warning and gets another punishment it would be an appropriate time to use the ban command.
  352. [*]Ban Evading - After doing a Family Sharing Check on someone and a message like this comes up as:
  353. [color=#ff0000]T4roMiQ(STEAM_0:0:444877016) is using an ALT to bypass a ban. Main account SteamID is STEAM_0:0:164865324[/color]
  354. Then you can permanently ban the main and the alt account.[/list]
  355.
  356. Please don’t copy this as I will call you out for copying it and I will bring it up in the meeting. Use something else and use it as inspiration.
  357.
  358. [code]Explain how you would handle the following situation:
  359. Player x appeals their ban in great detail, apology and effort. You check the ban list and find that you banned them permanently for Cheating, and that this is their first ban. How would your response to the appeal be?[/code]
  360.
  361. This is up to you want you to say and if you accept or deny it if you accept the appeal use this:
  362. :accepted:
  363. Which you can do by putting
  364. [code]:accepted:[/code]
  365. At the bottom of the reply or if you want to deny it you can put
  366. :denied:
  367. Which you can do by putting
  368. [code]:denied:[/code]
  369. At the bottom of the reply.
  370.
  371. I will not give an example as this is down to you what you do and what you say. Some useful information for you only Lead Team - Super Administrators and above - can ban for cheating. So in the reply say “after talking to the Lead Team member that banned you” and then say what you want to do. I would recommend putting it in a spoiler as most people do which you can do put putting
  372. [code][spoiler][/code]
  373. At the start and
  374. [code][/spoiler][/code]
  375. At the end of the reply.
  376.
  377. [code]Why I should be chosen (we recommend around 100 words):[/code]
  378.
  379. In this section, you should go over everything that you think is relevant to you being promoted, for example, you constantly handle reports, very active and have been Moderator for two weeks. Answer it in the way you want to and make sure you show off everything that is not in the other 9 question that is relevant. This section is a make it or break it section and you should put a lot of effort into it like the rest of your app. A big don’t in this section is to set yourself a minimum word count as people don't want to read a dragged on the application if they read it.
  380.
  381. Also, I would recommend using these two Administrator Applications as good places to base yours of. [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/137231-ttt-administrator-kim-s-application][color=#0044ff][b]MemesAreGoodWithKim's[/b][/color][/url] and [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/128862-ttt-admin-hopsical-s-application][color=#0044ff][b]Hop's[/b][/color][/url].
  382. [hr][center][b][color=#ff0000][size=4]Super Administrator[/color][/b][/center]
  383.
  384. Super Administrator is the first of two ranks in the Lead Team. It is a big step up from Administrator and comes with major responsibilities. Most don’t make it to this level. Here are the main criteria for getting Super Administrators:
  385.
  386. [b]Forums:[/b]
  387. If you want Super Administrator then you should be actively responding to TTT applications on the forums and giving good, constructive feedback to all applicants or to TTT-related threads in general. When you can handling Appeals and Punishment requests on the forums.
  388.
  389. [b]TeamSpeak3:[/b]
  390. If you want Super Administrator then you should be on TS3 and talking to other staff and more importantly the current LT - LT is the shortening for Lead Team.
  391.
  392. [b]Meetings:[/b]
  393. Attending Meetings is very important in getting LT. It is where you can show of to everyone who you are and some LT that you may not play with you will get an impression of who you are and if you should be Super Administrator. Meeting activity is important as if you can you should attend the meeting; Meeting presence is very much like Meeting activity but it is having a voice in the meeting and letting the meeting room know your opinion and interactions with them.
  394.
  395. [b]Helpfulness:[/b]
  396. Do you help other staff and users? Super Administrators are people that will help staff members in difficult situations, that means you need a good knowledge of the rules and you need to be approachable and be nice to talk with. You need to stay calm in all situations. It is also nice to see you help other staff members when you are a non-Lead Team member which adds up to a better chance of getting this rank.
  397.
  398. [b]Attitude:[/b]
  399. If you want to become a Super Administrator you need to have a good attitude when working and doing your job as the responsibilities of a Super Administrator require a good working mindset.
  400.
  401. [b]Handling Reports etc:[/b]
  402. Going for Super Administrator means that you need experience. The best way to gain experience is through handling reports [size=91][color=#414141]in-game [/color][/size]and on the forums - the forums are harder as there are very little appeals and report abuses but try and handle them when you can - as this will make you more familiar with your roles.
  403.
  404. [b]Maturity:[/b]
  405. This is simple. Be as mature as possible, but it is good to see if a Super Administrator is able to have fun with other people and can take a joke.
  406.
  407. [b]New commands you get:[/b]
  408. Do you think that you can trust yourself with some of these commands? Some of them do carry a lot of responsibility. Here they are.
  409.

  444.
  445. [code]N/A - Has to be done through ulx menu[/code][/spoiler][br][b]Application:[/b]
  446. I’m not going to go into detail about the application.
  447. As it is when you think what should happen. You should go into as much detail as you can in the section but don’t drag it out to make it look long.
  448.
  449. Also, I would recommend using these two Super Administrator Application as good places to base yours of. [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/129869-ttt-superadmin-dr-house-s-application][b][color=#ff0000]Dr House's[/color][/b][/url] and [url=https://zarpgaming.com/index.php/forum/server-applications/134762-ttt-super-admin-nepgear-s-application][b][color=#ff0000]Nepgear's[/color][/b][/url].
  450. [hr][center][b][color=#cc0000][size=4]What's next?[/color][/b][/center]
  451.
  452. There are three ranks after Super Administrator that I will not cover in detail. These are Head Administrator, Server Developer and Server Owner. If applying for these ranks - you can only apply for Head Administrator the other two you are given by the CM team or for current Server Owners - you should know what you are doing and what is expected of you. So you are on your own.
