  1. You say in a pained voice, "Greetings and welcome. Before we begin, I require the assistance of a Slave."
  2.
  3. You raise an eyebrow at Prazhaa.
  4.
  5. You have tmoted: Nizaris nods at Prazhaa, and promptly kicks at the back of his knees, attempting to buckle them and force Prazhaa to the ground.
  6.
  7. Prazhaa drops to one knee.
  8.
  9. You exclaim to Prazhaa in a pained voice, "Kneel, slave!"
  10.
  11. You nod your head emphatically.
  12.
  13. You say to Prazhaa in a pained voice, "I will require use of your arms, Slave. Raise them, above your head."
  14.
  15. Prazhaa lifts his arms above his head, palms open skyward, bowing his head.
  16.
  17. Nizaris heaves a pained sigh of frustration.
  18.
  19. You say to Prazhaa in a pained voice, "Like this, Slave."
  20.
  21. Prazhaa glances up.
  22.
  23. You have tmoted: Nizaris quickly grabs at Prazhaa's raised arms, and positions them to form a suitable podium. The Archbishop then places a tome bound in crimson silk upon Prazhaa's palms, opens it, and begins to fuss with the different-coloured ribbons anchored to the book's spine. Finding the correct page, Nizaris nods sharply, and looks at his audience.
  24.
  25. You say in a pained voice, "Let us pray."
  26.
  27. Nizaris extends both of his arms outwards from his body, with palms up. His arms bend naturally at the elbows, which remain close to his sides, as the Archbishop adopts an orans position, and begins to pray.
  28.
  29. You say in a pained voice, "Sharpen minds, Lords."
  30.
  31. You say in a pained voice, "That we might deepen our understanding."
  32.
  33. You say in a pained voice, "Refining our being into a more proper instrument."
  34.
  35. You say in a pained voice, "For Thy Divine plans!"
  36.
  37. You say in a pained voice, "And punish us, Lords."
  38.
  39. You say in a pained voice, "Should e'er we forget the lessons learnt this day."
  40.
  41. You chant in a pained voice, "Cultus Dominatus."
  42.
  43. You chant in a pained voice, "Cultus Perpessio."
  44.
  45. You chant in a pained voice, "Veneratio Dominatus."
  46.
  47. You chant in a pained voice, "Veneratio Perpessio."
  48.
  49. You chant in a pained voice, "Amen."
  50.
  51. Tyrannus Kaevan Lichlord chants in Mhaldorian, "Amen."
  52.
  53. Prazhaa bows his head and whispers quietly, "Amen."
  54.
  55. Azor says in Mhaldorian with a gravelly Grook accent, "Amen."
  56.
  57. Nizaris relaxes his arms, which fall naturally to his sides. He then reaches for the green ribbon of the tome supported by Prazhaa, and turns the page.
  58.
  59. You say in a pained voice, "The Fourth Truth teaches us, 'The enemies of strength are those who trumpet the effeminate values of forgiveness, tolerance, and laxity of discipline.'"
  60.
  61. You ask in a pained voice, "I ask you, then: what do you think this Truth would have us believe of compassion?"
  62.
  63. Nizaris looks at his audience, listening for replies.
  64.
  65. Tyrannus Kaevan Lichlord says in Mhaldorian, "Perhaps the Truth would have us think lowly of compassion, as well."
  66.
  67. You nod your head at Kaevan.
  68.
  69. You ask in a pained voice, "After all, compassion is advocated by Lady Tarah, one of the Gods of Shallam, no?"
  70.
  71. You say in a pained voice, "Unfortunately, the true meaning of the word is oft misunderstood."
  72.
  73. Azor says in Mhaldorian with a gravelly Grook accent, "Shallam had disowned Her teachings, last I heard. But perhaps they've changed their mind--they are fickle."
  74.
  75. You say in a pained voice, "And it would seem that the Lady Tarah has been successful in spreading Her 'misunderstanding' of the term."
  76.
  77. You nod your head at Azor.
  78.
  79. You ask in a pained voice, "Bold of a mortal to question the very Realm of a Divine, you say?"
  80.
  81. Nizaris waves his hand dismissively.
  82.
  83. You exclaim in a pained voice, "I say, 'No more bold than defiling Their shrines, and razing Their groves'!"
  84.
  85. You say in a pained voice, "But, the Lady of Vundamere may perhaps be excused for Her mistake of espousing a word that at its root is in fact Mhaldorian. For, rather than defining the term, she simply assumed that all who read
  86. Her Numen Concordi would understand it by its modern meaning: 'being nice'."
  87.
  88. You say in a pained voice, "At its root, the term 'compassion' possesses a more ancient meaning that lends itself, as do all things, to Mhaldorian Truth. The prefix, 'com' means in the ancient tongue, 'with'. 'Passion', however, means in the same tongue, 'suffer'."
  89.
  90. You say in a pained voice, "Thus, the truest meaning of the word is 'to suffer with'."
  91.
  92. Nizaris smiles triumphantly.
  93.
  94. You ask in a pained voice, "So, how does a Mhaldorian live Compassion in its Truest form?"
  95.
  96. You nod your head at Prazhaa.
  97.
  98. You say in a pained voice, "By mentoring the young. By torturing them, and expecting them to return the favour."
  99.
  100. You say in a pained voice, "I tell you, 'As iron sharpens iron, so also does a Mhaldorian sharpen his fellow Mhaldorian'."
  101.
  102. You say in a pained voice, "We as Mhaldorians should each seek out mentors and protegees of formal or informal nature, and challenge ourselves both under their tutelage, and by taking on the Suffering that we impose upon those under us."
  103.
  104. You say in a pained voice, "I myself possess many protegees. Droch Prazhaa is among them. I challenge these young mentally, spiritually, and bodily. We engage in discussions regarding our Faith. We engage in combat and refine our abilities. Despite my experience, I also seek out mentors myself, so that I may be further challenged to grow."
  105.
  106. You say in a pained voice, "In short, we take an adversarial approach to the relationship of a mentor and protegee. We become, then, a microcosm of Evil: each of us Oppressing, Suffering, and then seeking Vengeance in turn. As a result, we both grow in Strength toward Perfection."
  107.
  108. You say in a pained voice, "As a mentor, I consider myself successful, when I have raised a young slave from ignorance to peerage with myself. When they may be a threat to me, then I know that I have done all that I can to produce a servant of Evil."
  109.
  110. You say in a pained voice, "In the Blood Congregation, gone are the days where we would assign tasks for the young to complete upon their own, or grow in dormancy. Instead, this practice has been replaced with tasks that mentors and protegees are expected to complete together. Both mentors and protegees now seek one another out, and challenge one another. The result has been nothing less than transformative for our house, and the numbers of Malefics that have progressed through our ranks, and remained, has likewise increased."
  111.
  112. Nizaris raises his arms, outstretched, toward the audience.
  113.
  114. You say in a pained voice, "I encourage all of you to continue to seek out relationships that are trying: both for yourselves, and for those who are lesser than you. Display compassion not through forgiveness, but through causing another to Suffer, and expecting Suffering in return. Transform another, become transformed yourself, and you will succeed in transforming Mhaldorian society."
  115.
  116. Nizaris clenches his fists, and shakes his arms powerfully. He turns again to Prazhaa, and turns to the page marked by the blue ribbon, before raising his arms again in an orans position.
  117.
  118. You say in a pained voice, "Let us close in prayer."
  119.
  120. You say in a pained voice, "Lord Shaitan, Lord Apollyon, it is your enlightened path which guides us each day, and we are eternally inspired by the fear and hate You instill in the weak ... this is why we pray."
  121.
  122. You say in a pained voice, "We come to You blind and weak, You remove the veil and show us the Truth."
  123.
  124. You say in a pained voice, "We strive toward perfection, You provide us a path, and show us the way."
  125.
  126. You say in a pained voice, "We endure famine and hardships in Your vision, You give us the strength to purge the weakness."
  127.
  128. You say in a pained voice, "We inflict pain and suffering upon the land, Your unholy taint infects the pathetic masses."
  129.
  130. You say in a pained voice, "We pledge our souls to you and the enlightened path, your vision is our purpose and through Evil shall we conquer."
  131.
  132. You say in a pained voice, "It is for the Malevolent Ones that we exist to serve."
  133.
  134. You chant in a pained voice, "Amen."
  135.
  136. Tyrannus Kaevan Lichlord chants in Mhaldorian, "Amen."
  137.
  138. Amitation whispers in a dark, exasperated voice, "Makta Ra. Makta Re. Makta Ru."
  139.
  140. Azor says in Mhaldorian with a gravelly Grook accent, "Amen."
  141.
  142. Daemonic Cleric Kelandra Lichlord says, "Amen."
  143.
  144. Nizaris lowers his arms, and picks up the book upon Prazhaa's open palms. He closes the book, and bows to the audience, indicating that the sermon is at an end.
  145.
  146. Kaevan nods his head carefully at you.
  147.
  148. You say in a pained voice, "Go forth, for you are sent with the blessings of the Lords and Lady. Go forth, and seek Suffering in the words and deeds of another. Go forth, and seek Perfection for Mhaldorian society."
  149.
  150. Prazhaa murmurs in a soft voice, "Amen."
  151.
  152. Nizaris bows once more, the sermon and final blessing concluded.
