Moment: Shiro fought against the Pride Sin, and his fourth gate though it wasn't enough to full put a dent on the man. Shiro has been holding back pushing his limits any further for the simple fact he would destroy his own body; however, in this moment he feels that he should break his own rule.
Shiro knew this wasn't the extent of the Shin's power, and even if the Tanuki can't defeat him the goal is to weaken him enough so other might bring him down.
Shiro doesn't seek to claim the glory, but despite times call for despite measures. Shiro would push his body to the limit in order to inflict enough damage to the Sin.
