Silence had decided to go off his normal path recently, hoping he'd have luck at somewhere new. The places he stopped by at weren't as fresh as they'd been; and new water with untapped potential could certainly help.
He had most of his luggage in a sort of backpack/big satchel on his back, and a small bucket of bait in his hand. He'd been trekking on a trail through a lesser mountain range for a while, and he hopped to find something soon...

As the first light of morning peeks over the Eastward mountains, Haru begins her day as she does every day. She steps out from her cold cave to drink a few handfuls of water from the pond. This pond is made up of rainwater and snowmelt from the mountains; and is incredibly refreshing. After that, she performs some morning stretches before finally putting on her arm and beginning her daily training. If she's to make a difference in the world, she needs to be strong. She uses every moment of every day training her mind and body alone by this pond.

Alone? Not for long.
Silence padded along his path, catching the glimpse of something reflecting light ahead. He picked up his pace until water came into view. He slowed to a halt away from it, scanning the surface; it looked clean and clear enough. The sphinx stalked forward a few paces, now starting to tear his gaze from the water. He caught sight of someone else and protectively drew his half-dead worms closer.

Sensing footfalls behind her, Haru turns to face the Sphinx. Her face stretches into a warm smile as she inspects the stranger. As she slowly approaches him, she holds the giant gauntlet donned on her right arm up so that it doesn't drag across the ground. "Hello." she calls gently. "Are you lost?"

Her gauntlet, Jayiha, contrasts with her petite figure almost comically; but grants her an intimidating presence. However, her demeanor is serene and placid; and her soft voice warmly welcomes the stranger to her makeshift home.

They seemed friendly enough but they have a huge arm which didn't help too much with first impressions. He watched them approach, carefully placing the bucket down next to him.
"Hey," He briefly looked out at the water for a second. "Sort of? I wasn't looking for any place specific..."
He wondered if he should leave; were they using this area already? Maybe protecting it. They didn't have the I-am-the-guardian-and-you-shall-not-pass demeanor about them.

Haru halts several feet away from Silence; and gestures toward the pond. "You have come to the right place." she replies. "Welcome to nowhere. Please, tell me your name." She carries herself with a reserved confidence; unflinching yet welcoming to even a total stranger. "I am Haru."

Nowhere sounded like a good place to start. His paws shuffled closer to the water, itching to explore it. He straightened up a little and whisked his tail nervously. "Pleased to meet you, Haru! I'm Silence."
Haru; doesn't seem like a threatening name. A common name, actually; sweetly simple.

The Sphinx's nervous mannerisms are easy for Haru to notice. She isn't very confident speaking in common Adonian; but she'd try her best to comfort Silence. "I like your name." she states plainly. She tenderly places her left hand over Jayiha. "Please do not worry about my hand; I am not violent."

Haru had purposefully moved to a place where no one lived; to minimize distractions and to lay low. However, she couldn't help but feel eager to have a person visiting her for the first time.

Silence would ask what else you'd use a huge gauntlet for but decided it was best not to ask. He fiddled with the straps around his waist before tipping to the side to let the pack slide off. He stood up a little straighter with the release of weight; and his wings flattered in relief.

"Thanks... So, I'd be allowed to fish here? Assuming there were fish." He glanced back out at the pond's surface again to see if he could spot movement.

Haru lets out a light chuckle at Silence's naïve question. "I cannot disallow you." she replies. "Perhaps try asking the fish instead."

She returns to her position by the waterside and takes a seat; allowing the elbow of her enormous arm to rest on the ground beside her. "This pond does not belong to me. You are just as welcome!"

That was a pleasant surprise to him; some people were rather territorial. He wandered towards the bank after gently picking the bag back up in his hands. He halted by the water's edge and laid his lower half down with some effort.

"Ah, thank you! I just know some that wouldn't be so... Welcoming." He shuffled his satchel up to open a flap and look through.

"Are you a fisherman?" she asks, eyeing what she assumes to be his tackle bag. She hadn't expected a Sphinx to be a fisherman... The feline body seemed to more suited for hunting. "You must be a long way from your home."

"Mostly a past time thing for me." He took out what was like a spool of thread and a rod with a fee extra parts. Fishing rod; some assembly required. Silence went to threading through the line. "Yeah, sort of. I jump around a bit, which probably isn't a good habit."

One of Haru's eyebrows perk up at Silence's statement. "What is wrong with jumping around?" she asks. "It's good exercise, isn't it?" It was clearly a simple misunderstanding with the language.

Silence couldn't tell if this was a joke or not, but he was more than a little amused either way. "Not literally- jump around as like, moving from different places. Town to town."

"Ah!" Haru chuckles, realizing her mistake. "That makes more sense. I still do not think that's a bad habit. I actually prefer to 'jump around' as well. I don't like to be bound."

"Hm, yeah, but I have like... equipment I lug around if I ever have to actually move." Silence gave a small gesture to the rod in his hand, which he'd now threaded. He looked back to his bag and sifted through. "Stuff gets lost... Or maybe I'd just loose it either way. I don't know."

Haru spectates as the Sphinx rummages through his belongings; feeling a sort of pity for him. "You would find the weight on your shoulders much lighter if you relinquish your material possessions." She condescends. "Spiritually, and physically." Although she means well, her smile feels more judgmental than caring.

He pulled out a small box, missing the smile as his eyes were focused on it. "I mean, I'd like having a smaller load, but I like having enough for a back up plan."
Silence pried the box open to grab bait to hook onto his rod.

"Ah, yes." she nods. "I understand. Although.. What is your primary plan? What would go wrong that would make you rely on your backup plan?" Haru's interest in Silence's virtues stems from a firm personal belief in achievement. To her, those who idly waste their life with no greater purpose are a nuisance.
