[OVERVIEW]
*Mega Latias is a Pokémon that fits very well on to “fantasy core” style teams consisting of a fairy, dragon, and steel type that can cover each other’s weaknesses very well.
*Mega Latias can operate effectively as either a more Tailwind-oriented support Pokémon or a potent calm mind sweeper.
*A base 110 Speed puts Mega Latias in a great speed tier alongside Mega-Metagross and Gengar.
*Base 120 Defense and 150 Special Defense help to make up for Mega Latias’s mediocre 80 HP and allow it to take a lot of strong hits with little to no investment.
*Mega Latias serves as a decent check against both rain and sun teams, being resistant to most of their attacks thanks to its’ dragon typing and ability to safely set up against them.
*Mega Latias’s primary check is Tyranitar, which can easily be taken care of by its teammates.
*Mega Latias does face some competition from other tailwind setters and also has to compete for the mega slot.

[SET COMMENTS]
*Mega Latias excels as a Calm Mind user due to its excellent Special Defense stat and good Defense stat and access to Roost, which allow it to stay alive while boosting its stats.
*Mega Latias really appreciates some form of speed control from its partner Pokemon in order to out speed some of its faster checks such as scarf Tyranitar, Mega Gengar, and other fast threats.
*Ice Beam can OHKO both Mega Salamence and non-bulky Landorus-T before any Calm Mind boosts.
*162 Special Attack is just enough to be able to OHKO 4 HP Hydreigon before it can hit Mega Latias super effectively with Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, or even Black Hole Eclipse.
*With max Speed, Mega Latias can out speed Kartana by one point and pick up an OHKO a good amount of the time with Ice Beam as long as it’s not running a bulky AV set.
*Can almost always OHKO Amoonguss while at +1 Special Attack with either Psyshock or Psychic, depending on the set.
*Non-Life Orb Jolly Tyranitar with 252 Attack will always miss the OHKO on Mega Latias and Adamant will only OHKO 6.3% of the time.
*252+ Special Attack Aegislash will only deal a maximum of 86.2% of Mega-Latias’s health with Never-Ending Nightmare.
*HP Ice from Choice Specs Tapu Koko is a guaranteed 3HKO while Latias is guaranteed to KO it in two hits with Psychic or Psyshock.
*This spread will ensure that Overheat from max Special Attack Charizard Y in the sun is not a 2HKO.
*Max Special Attack Gengar Shadow Ball will only do a maximum of 83.8% of Latias’s health with no Special Defense boosts and it can be OHKO’d in return by either Psychic or Psyshock.
*The added benefit of roost grounding Latias for a turn can also provide some added tech with terrain, allowing it to ground itself in either misty or electric terrain to avoid a spore from Amoonguss or to get a little bit of extra recovery in grassy terrain for a turn.
*Mega Latias works very well alongside both Tapu Fini and Tapu Lele as they help to support each other’s weaknesses and can form a very solid core alongside a steel type such as Kartana, Scizor, Celesteela, or Ferrothorn.
*Mega Latias struggles against the common LeleGross core, so you will want to have a pokemon on your team such as Celesteela that can come in and effectively handle that core.
*Stored Power can be an interesting option on Mega Latias as it can do lots of damage after a few Calm Mind boosts, but it’s usually better to just have Psychic or Psyshock because it can do more damage even before Calm Mind boosts.
