  5. On wednesday this past week i felt incredibly disrespected and unhappy. I am also somewhat unhappy with how i handled the situation. 2 students in the darkroom this day completely mistreated darkroom equipment we are so fortunate to have at this school. They cut up bags that protected the paper, they took too much paper, they ruined a whole jug of chemicals i made just the day before, they made no effort to listen to me at all. I tried to help them and watch them but any time i turned my back to help another student they had either wasted paper or contaminated tongs. It became clear to me that they did not care to listen and would continue to waste money by wasting paper so i sent them both back to class as they had ruined the chemicals making it not possible for anyone else to work.

  9. This made me realise that some students just don’t understand things or care enough to learn them, so you have to walk them through everything step by step. This is difficult however as I need to help other students and the point of the class is to learn how to develop these photos on their own. I need to learn to control my emotions when these things happen because they may have learning issues and i need to learn how i can teach them so that they understand me. I am going to discuss with my host teacher what i can do to get them to understand me, because i have tried explaining and demonstrating multiple times and they still do not retain the information.

  13. My SMART goal will be to get better at teaching students who may not learn the same way and have trouble retaining information. This is important because these students need to learn the content of the class, but it is difficult when i do not understand how to teach them. To achieve this goal me and my host teacher have already discussed what we can do to help them. We are going to try working with them 1on1 again just like we did for the last project. This may have to be done multiple times for them to fully understand. I will also always ask them to give feedback if they understand and answer any questions they have. I plan to achieve this goal in a week before the end of the project and i will know i have achieved it once i see that they are able to complete the project on their own i of course expect them to ask questions but i want them to expose and develop mostly as on their own because understanding darkroom equipment is port of their marik.
