The advantage of using this circuit is the ability to actuate a part with the physical movement of a component in the system, e.g. a single or double cylinder. Using the single actuated cylinder allows the rod to retract to the starting position without the requirement of pneumatic assistance. The disadvantage is one we faced in our group; having the roller mechanism actuation fail in the 3/2 roller directional control valve. Without the actuation of the component, the system ceases to work due to the inability for the DCV to function.
