- **TOPIC 1: EULA**
- They're talking about EULA stuff rn
- they are saying mojang has a general lack of knowledge of how servers work
- and setting up changes without fully understanding
- trying to make a one size fit all system
- The other importna thing to bear in mind this is all happening in mc as a whole, java side
- there is a general decline in java side
- it's just gotten smaller
- it's easy to say we're not alone
- we have lots of diff networks contact us
- lots of drama with blacklisting
- there's lots of rapid eula changes every 3 -4 weeks
- get another email from mojang
- we're not protected from eula by being biggest server
- we just don't talk about it very much
- we call it the hypixel defense
- they do a completely different implementation
- there's a server that did voting rewards because we did erwards
- well hypixel is doing rewards right? so this server started a sale to vote more
- and paid rewards for voting
- so they put these outrages voting rewards
- talking like 1million coins they vote
- and buy more tokens they vote
- this is where the system is broken
- rather than dealing with this one person screwing up
- mojang says hey nobody can vote
- instead of dealing with 1 person they deal with everyone
- including those doing things right
- and this is one of the most worrying things they said, like if we give you a booster on facebook, it's determined paying with time
- they are saying if you are paying with time you can't reward the user with that
- honest, it's not great
- and the currency situation
- and we don't want to talk about horses but
- the second example is um
- thye now no longer allow you to use a custom currency
- like hypixel credits
- credits and stuff like that so
- the reason credits added is for ppl to convert money to custom currency
- and they only work on costmetics
- with credits you could get beautiful awards asame as others
- but now they say not allowed
- 'alright it's okay to get rid of credits and we were already thinking to get rid because so many currencies already
- but it's fine
- say, it just shows how wrong the EULA is going
- instead of helping us
- you know what they say
- but this is minecraft, you can't add a new horse, you can't add another particle trail you just can't do it
- taths'why we made companions
- hey you can sell cosmetics but here's 0 tools to do it
- it's the standard, in Clash Royale, games like TF2, the rate of playing players is high, and the reason we need to keep it up is to pay the bills
- why is mc so expensive
- it was not designed to be on this scale and desont' work on the cloud
- PokeGo is on the cloud so it scales infinitely
- but MC doesn't
- you need Bungee servers etc.
- and it's a pain
- Mc is just not made for that
- make our own code edit mc code
- it means we're stuck inside, we have to buy contracted hosting for 1 or 2 years
- were in a fragile position for finances
- and we have to deal with EULA
- some months we don't make money
- and other times we just have to make up for it
- so we have Sales
- people going back to school and that sutff
- basically the EULA is fine but it needs refinement
- it needs more options for us to survive
- if a month with no money, that means EULA is doing it
- a lot of time spent doing cosmetics instead of games and minigames andupdate
- if there was no EULA skyclash would already be out
- and updates to all the games
- but now we need to put time on cosmetics to pay the builds
- some of the devs have faimlies and kids and we have to make sure they are ok
- if we keep getting bashed on the head
- everything is stable everything is fine
- then one little server breaks something then all the networks get an email and it's a broken process
- they don't understand the intricacies of how servers work
- maybe later this year, after minecon, hopefully they change their approach
- they should sit down and talk with up to make it fair for the user
- EULA is great on paper it forces owners to make money correctly etc.
- but there needs to be a feedback process

- We got an email four months ago
- the email said, not going to say who but Mojang enforcement team, it said we have to reduce the speed of horses
- they asked us to reduce horse speed in lobby
- they asked to make pets not fly in lobby because they gave transporation advantages
- and that sort of stuff is like EHHH
- it shows the disconnection between EULA and servers
- if they talked to us and explained that lobbies transporation is cosmetic
- we explained it but they still insisted on change
- this is a bad decision and you're not taking feedback
- as a last note on EULA topic, important to remember Mojang is trying to do best on Users but there's really horrible scumbag networks out there selling ritual drugs and owners talking about stuff they shouldn't say
- this is one of treasons EULA happened
- there's tons with less than 1000 users that are great
- but EULA prevents them scaling
- how do u survive with 35+k players online
- we got lucky some ways
- we were first to adapt to EULA
- honest truth if a server came along, I don't think they could grow to 5000 player now
- you can't even sell sponsorships anymore
- brands can't do that anymore
- it comes down to people doing stupid stuff screwing everyone else over
- instead of dealing with idiots they deal with everyone

- **TOPIC 2: THE HYPIXEL GAME**

- One thing about EULA it proves that we don't control the game
- don't control income or what we're doing
- to that extent for the last year and a half
- I'd say for the last year and half we've been working designing and preparing and working on our own game
- it's quite an ambitious process
- at this point it works
- it's impressive and we've shown it to some people and everyone is on board and it makes sense for us
- like why would we do a game
- because we have a lot of creative people
- and their creativity is limited by mc
- with our own game we can control EVERYTHING
- engine client UI etc.
- well it's important to realize that the days of Java are numbered
- and every other day we get more networks saying what's going on what are we looking towards
- without revealing to much it's not just the game for us, it's for all the others too
- it's a game that all the networks may be interested in
- that various different people would be interested in
- to get to that point, the way we built our game was with that in mind
- other games are like don't touch our game etc.
- but for us it's a diff approach
- other companies want 100% control
- but we want to empower the community
- say we have 20 devs on our comunity
- but we release this game with all the tools
- we don't have 50 devs we have 50000 devs
- if we have this big complex thing that isn't playable then if someone makes a mod no one is playing
- this isn't a small budget game
- it's a large budget game I've been saving up for for years
- hypixel must be rich
- but i'm trailing on my money for this project
- it's an honor to work on this project, and 25 ppl working full time
- and we have designers, game designers, artists, full time music guy, animator
- crazy stuff
- we have full time people working on this
- even blizzard when they make new games, 50 ppl on new games, with us with 25 ppl on the game hopefully you guys will see the quality

- network has a lot of challenges
- before we can make it happen
- MC doesn't owkr on Cloud system
- to go on an EU netrowkr
- it requireds more money and investment
- and contracted servers
- if we order 30 servs
- first of all
- it creates an issue if we invest money we get locked for 1 or 2 years
- and EU servs more expensive than US
- and it needs to work with data base in US
- it's important to understand, other servers have EU networks but that's crap
- it doesn't work
- the experience is garbage
- you split your community in half
- you think and plan it but it just doesn't work
- one community eats up the other
- but if you look at EU mineplex
- it's pretty much dead
- US is more people
- people just don't want to connect to another server
- it's unplayable too little people
- it's like the more games you have
- it'sharder to get these games going
- with 45+ games at low peak
- it's hard for players to start playing
- if we split the community even more
- it's bad
- our plan would be first
- we need to transfer back in and we need Mojang's help
- moving people between IPs
- in mc we have to use Bungees
- we have to move people from one bungee to another
- and this needs a transfer packet
- with this at low peak, when no games starting
- just dump players to the other US server
- you can move people around
- that means scales
- at night not many going around
- if there was a transfer packet
- it would let us switch IP addresses
- which you can do inside the same data center
- but with this we could have Chinese, Japanese, brazil, servers etc. whatever it would work
- we could have shared lobbies if we had transfer packet
- any countries would be in the lobby
- but joining game you go to one server
- the lobbies would stay in the US as who cares about where lobby is though
- game servers will be wherever we would want
- if we ever get transfer packet, interesting thing is they didn't say no...
- if they can't do it we can! haha

- a season system where all the kids there would be like season 1 for mega walls
- everyone is lvl 0
- every season everything resets
- that would be a BOLD move

- why spend one month on paintball updatse
- instead of making paintball 2

- resource packs are very badly optimized
- every mc update breaks resource pack
- they change file structure in 1.11

- the way mc is just win10 edition is great, but Java version is crap at rendering 3d
- in WL low polygons makes FPS go down 40%
- simple polygon sort in code is just Not good

- now we have new maps and stuff

- we're not happy with currently MVP+ gets etc.
- everything has gotten worse because EULA
- had to take away credits
- mojang made us take away a ton of other stuff
- it's important to make things worth it
- some say ranks have no value
- but it's hard to make them valuable

- we found a way to make MVP+ choose the map to play
- the reason it's limited, on a technical level, if everyone picked a map
- it would be crazy
- limiting to MVP+ makes them better

- our most popular skywars game.. the game is too non-donor friendly
- it doubled our costs
- because so many games
- if you noticed in skywards, starts with 14 players
- ends with 2
- we're fine but the game itself
- there's no cosmetics
- there's nothing for ranks
- we want to make current ranks have more value
- so we're gonna give ranks map choosing etc.
- but we're not going to go too ham on it
- skywars is a pretty pure game
- we try and approach it by having one exclusive thing for VIP, VIP+, MVP etc.

- > Our housing system, we want to increase what mc can do
- so we made housing to split players across tons of servers
- Infinity is the same idea for games
- the older way how housing works doesn't work too well with combat in gameplay
- we adjusted that in infinity

- if we put a 10v10 in skywars, it wouldn't be skywars

- with skyclash we can be more different with gameplay
- so there could be a perk, the way it works like
- you could have a card that makes you immune to arrows
- you could bring that card in
- but if you picked this card
- you can't pick another one that would give speed
- you have to choose what to bring to the game
- if we try X and it's not fun we'll remove it

- skyclash lets us do that
- make gameplay changing cards to change gameplay completely
- it's easy for us to add content to the game

- the way we have kits it's with a system for game devs to add them

- so yeah skyclash is like a scalable game with a lot of things
- so yeah you may say it's like skywars 2 but that's kind of the point but it's going to be scaled
