  1. Aug 10 17:18:45 <Firedingo> oh Diyo, How'd your talking with Jehovah/Yahweh go?
  2. Aug 10 17:31:40 <MrGwie> ?
  3. Aug 10 17:32:28 <Firedingo> Ask Diyo MrGwie as he can explain it better than I can
  4. Aug 10 17:34:18 <mDiyo> I had a chat with Yahweh on the way to the store.
  5. Aug 10 17:34:53 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Yahweh is one part of the soul matrix that calls itself God.
  6. Aug 10 17:35:18 <MrGwie> to you at least :)
  7. Aug 10 17:35:41 <mDiyo> Explain?
  8. Aug 10 17:36:35 <Firedingo> I think that means MrGwie is religious and believes what he was raised with. That's my thought at least based on previous conversations we've had
  9. Aug 10 17:36:54 <MrGwie> almost right :)
  10. Aug 10 17:37:02 <Firedingo> ok correct me then
  11. Aug 10 17:37:40 <mDiyo> Correct me too, because I didn't make any judgements. The being I talked to said it was God.
  12. Aug 10 17:37:55 <MrGwie> I don't believe what I'm raised in, I believe what I studied and examined when I was raised :)
  13. Aug 10 17:38:02 <Firedingo> it probably believed that too Diyo.
  14. Aug 10 17:38:19 <Firedingo> I could believe I was superman too doesn't make it so though
  15. Aug 10 17:38:53 <Firedingo> So you were raised with one religion and believe a different one MrGwie?
  16. Aug 10 17:39:04 <MrGwie> nope
  17. Aug 10 17:39:40 <Firedingo> well you baffled me then
  18. Aug 10 17:39:48 <MrGwie> I just had to get my own faith on my own, its not something your parents can give you
  19. Aug 10 17:40:21 <Firedingo> true but I assume that unless something lead you to it you were raised as your parents saw fit
  20. Aug 10 17:40:45 <mDiyo> MrGwie: What do you believe?
  21. Aug 10 17:41:50 * MrGwie is processing it into english. be patient please :)
  22. Aug 10 17:42:02 <mDiyo> The more :) you add the less patient I will be.
  23. Aug 10 17:42:07 <Static7s> okay, I really neecd to go to sleep now
  24. Aug 10 17:42:16 <Firedingo> night Static7s o/
  25. Aug 10 17:42:24 <Static7s> somebody hand me some ether or something :/
  26. Aug 10 17:42:39 * Static7s hugs Firedingo goodnight exhaustedly
  27. Aug 10 17:42:46 <MrGwie> well, for short I believe that the bible is true and everything the bible says is true too :)
  28. Aug 10 17:42:59 * Static7s hugs Rayere too
  29. Aug 10 17:43:05 <Static7s> be back in several hours o/
  30. Aug 10 17:43:07 <MrGwie> goodnight static
  31. Aug 10 17:43:12 * Rayere hugs Static7s
  32. Aug 10 17:43:16 * Static7s has quit (Quit: There were plants and birds and rocks and things. There was sand and hills and rings)
  33. Aug 10 17:43:17 <Firedingo> Some how your comment Diyo makes me want to go "So you don't want me to go :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) then" :P
  34. Aug 10 17:43:53 <mDiyo> So you believe that we should stone all gay people and wives are property of their husbands?
  35. Aug 10 17:44:11 <MrGwie> the bible doesn't say that :)
  36. Aug 10 17:44:19 * mDiyo has kicked MrGwie from #mDiyo (:))
  37. Aug 10 17:44:34 * MrGwie (~mc8138763@ip4daa44e0.direct-adsl.nl) has joined
  38. Aug 10 17:44:37 <MrGwie> hey :<
  39. Aug 10 17:44:46 <Firedingo> It also doesn't explicitly say not to do that either
  40. Aug 10 17:44:49 <mDiyo> http://biblehub.com/leviticus/20-13.htm
  41. Aug 10 17:45:24 <Tatsu> o/
  42. Aug 10 17:45:26 <mDiyo> http://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/7-4.htm
  43. Aug 10 17:45:28 <Firedingo> That reminds me of when I got swift sharp purge from Rune for being cheeky and posting lots of Kappas in his chat :P
  44. Aug 10 17:45:42 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Which bible are you reading?
  45. Aug 10 17:46:06 <Firedingo> I can say I've not read much of any bible
  46. Aug 10 17:46:15 <MrGwie> New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
  47. Aug 10 17:46:43 <mDiyo> How do you account for the contradictions in the bible?
  48. Aug 10 17:47:01 <mDiyo> Namely all of these: http://infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html
  49. Aug 10 17:48:23 <mDiyo> Serious question. If you believe everything it says is true then why does it say different things?
  50. Aug 10 17:48:35 <Firedingo> sounds like two different sources got mashed in to one book in a poorly handled way to me
  51. Aug 10 17:48:41 <MrGwie> It doesn't say different things
  52. Aug 10 17:48:45 <MrGwie> I studied it
  53. Aug 10 17:48:53 <MrGwie> it matches perfectly
  54. Aug 10 17:48:55 <mDiyo> I studied it today. I don't believe you.
  55. Aug 10 17:49:14 <mDiyo> "I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (JER 13:14) "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."
  56. Aug 10 17:49:21 <mDiyo> "The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (JAS 5:11)"For his mercy endureth forever." (1CH 16:34)"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (PSA 145:9)"God is love." (1JO 4:16)
  57. Aug 10 17:49:22 <Firedingo> ok take one of the mentioned contradictions and explain it for us MrGwie
  58. Aug 10 17:49:33 <mDiyo> How does THAT match perfectly?
  59. Aug 10 17:51:21 <MrGwie> you know what Jeremiahs task was?
  60. Aug 10 17:51:29 <mDiyo> Answer the question.
  61. Aug 10 17:51:40 <MrGwie> he had to warn israël
  62. Aug 10 17:51:53 <MrGwie> they had a law given by their god
  63. Aug 10 17:52:34 <MrGwie> they promised that they would do what the law said
  64. Aug 10 17:52:35 <mDiyo> And anyone violating that law means they had to die by god's hand?
  65. Aug 10 17:52:40 <MrGwie> but they didn't
  66. Aug 10 17:53:22 <mDiyo> So god had no mercy... for they had crossed god and they must be punished.
  67. Aug 10 17:53:31 <Firedingo> isn't there a story about Abraham being ordered to kill his son by god only to be saved at the last second as well???
  68. Aug 10 17:53:49 <mDiyo> Yes. That story is warped to fit The Binding of Isaac game.
  69. Aug 10 17:54:14 <MrGwie> Jer 13:16: Give glory to Jehovah your God Before he brings darkness And before your feet stumble on the mountains at dusk.
  70. Aug 10 17:54:27 <Firedingo> yeah but the point is no god should ask that of a follower if they are merciful
  71. Aug 10 17:54:34 <MrGwie> they had a law
  72. Aug 10 17:54:40 <mDiyo> God is merciful. God is not merciful.
  73. Aug 10 17:55:01 <MrGwie> he has mercy
  74. Aug 10 17:55:08 <Firedingo> sounds like a petulant child the more I think on it
  75. Aug 10 17:55:11 <mDiyo> Just because they had a low doesn't mean god gets to kill them. That's not mercy, that's vengence.
  76. Aug 10 17:55:12 <MrGwie> he warned israël many times
  77. Aug 10 17:55:24 <mDiyo> What is Israel?
  78. Aug 10 17:56:01 <MrGwie> you don't know? O_o
  79. Aug 10 17:56:08 <Firedingo> so what they screwed up and rather than letting them fall and learn he thought punishing them was a better idea? That goes against basic human learning.
  80. Aug 10 17:56:26 <mDiyo> I have 3 definitions of Israel. I think you don't know.
  81. Aug 10 17:56:49 <Firedingo> I only know Israel as a country, a region of land
  82. Aug 10 17:57:00 <Rayere> you know 10 tenants? You know what it says? (IIRC it goes something like that) "... as I am jelaous god and these who betray me will de damned to third generation of their kin, but these who believe in me and spread my word will be rewarded, to 10th generation of their kin"
  83. Aug 10 17:57:14 <MrGwie> Isreal was the nation that god choose to be his nation and they accepted the offer
  84. Aug 10 17:57:15 <mDiyo> The current day Israel is different from the two you could reference 2000 years ago.
  85. Aug 10 17:57:40 <Firedingo> two Diyo?
  86. Aug 10 17:58:05 <mDiyo> The nation itself is one. The tribes that came from Abraham is the other.
  87. Aug 10 17:58:31 <Firedingo> interesting. I've not heard of the tribes from Abraham before.
  88. Aug 10 17:58:48 <mDiyo> The third would be the Zionist movement centric nation we have today.
  89. Aug 10 17:59:14 <mDiyo> The Mormons keep referencing Israel. They mean the people, not the location.
  90. Aug 10 17:59:20 <Firedingo> Zionist? That rings a bell in my mind that says they're bad, am I right?
  91. Aug 10 18:00:08 <mDiyo> Well, they imprison palestinians and kill them to take over land so they can recreate a place for god to arrive and declare domain over all humanity...
  92. Aug 10 18:00:37 <mDiyo> Basically, they're racist zealots on a bloody crusade.
  93. Aug 10 18:00:50 <Firedingo> so bad then.
  94. Aug 10 18:00:59 <Firedingo> Kinda like ISIS too.
  95. Aug 10 18:01:01 <mDiyo> Failed NWO level bad.
  96. Aug 10 18:01:13 <Firedingo> yeah no kidding
  97. Aug 10 18:01:17 <mDiyo> ISIS is funded by the rogue faction of the US military.
  98. Aug 10 18:01:31 <Firedingo> why would that not surprise me
  99. Aug 10 18:01:49 <mDiyo> Anyway... MrGwie: How is god merciful when he kills people for breaking a law?
  100. Aug 10 18:02:29 <MrGwie> one sec... :)
  101. Aug 10 18:02:35 <MrGwie> found something for ya
  102. Aug 10 18:02:36 * mDiyo has kicked MrGwie from #mDiyo (:))
  103. Aug 10 18:02:44 * MrGwie (~mc8138763@ip4daa44e0.direct-adsl.nl) has joined
  104. Aug 10 18:02:51 <Firedingo> Merciful is saying you should die for breaking the law but as I am merciful you will be spared.......that is if my understanding of the term is correct.
  105. Aug 10 18:02:57 <MrGwie> only have to find it again in enlish for you
  106. Aug 10 18:03:08 <mDiyo> Well, I could run it through google translate.
  107. Aug 10 18:03:34 <Firedingo> then try and figure out what google translate came up with Diyo :P
  108. Aug 10 18:04:50 <MrGwie> google translate is rubbish with sentences :)
  109. Aug 10 18:04:56 <Firedingo> and grammer
  110. Aug 10 18:05:47 <Firedingo> Should I ask how the conversation went Diyo or shall we wait on MrGwie some more?
  111. Aug 10 18:06:03 <mDiyo> It's related.
  112. Aug 10 18:06:15 <Firedingo> yeah that's why I've been waiting
  113. Aug 10 18:06:31 <MrGwie> could take a little while though :|
  114. Aug 10 18:06:43 <mDiyo> You're a translator. Explain it in your own words?
  115. Aug 10 18:06:57 <Firedingo> you're not translating a book are you MrGwie? :P
  116. Aug 10 18:07:09 <MrGwie> no
  117. Aug 10 18:07:17 <MrGwie> a alinea
  118. Aug 10 18:07:22 <MrGwie> an*
  119. Aug 10 18:07:27 <mDiyo> I asked a good number of questions of Yahweh.
  120. Aug 10 18:07:53 <mDiyo> Well, first he addressed me as "My child" and I went "what?"
  121. Aug 10 18:08:01 <mDiyo> "You are not my child."
  122. Aug 10 18:08:31 <Firedingo> So frosty start then?
  123. Aug 10 18:08:43 <mDiyo> Sure. :P
  124. Aug 10 18:08:56 <MrGwie> got it \o//
  125. Aug 10 18:09:11 <mDiyo> He also said something that I could tell was untrue, and he was amazed at that. That was weird.
  126. Aug 10 18:09:19 <MrGwie> wanna link or spam?
  127. Aug 10 18:09:28 <mDiyo> Link
  128. Aug 10 18:09:52 <MrGwie> alinea 17-19 is what you are looking for
  129. Aug 10 18:09:55 <MrGwie> http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/draw-close/love/jehovah-gods-tender-compassion/
  130. Aug 10 18:09:58 <Firedingo> So you called his bluff then or you just happen to have knowledge on what he said that was untrue?
  131. Aug 10 18:10:05 <mDiyo> It was something like... "who are you?" "I am the way, the truth, and the life". "You aren't the life." ...
  132. Aug 10 18:10:12 <MrGwie> I can't explain it in better words
  133. Aug 10 18:10:26 <mDiyo> One of the skills you can develop is a sort of truthsense.
  134. Aug 10 18:10:42 <mDiyo> It's usually called woman's intuition and bound up with that.
  135. Aug 10 18:10:44 <Firedingo> ah yes. I recall you mentioning it before.
  136. Aug 10 18:11:05 <mDiyo> This went "RED FLAG IT DOESN'T BELIEVE WHAT IT'S SAYING RED FLAG ERROR"
  137. Aug 10 18:11:52 <Firedingo> Yeah I bet it did too. If a guy calmly walked up to me and said I have a loaded gun in my pocket red flags would go up too :P
  138. Aug 10 18:12:23 <mDiyo> If I did that, you'd probably freak out because I was telling the truth, not because I was lying.
  139. Aug 10 18:12:55 <K4rush> 5am, cya o/
  140. Aug 10 18:13:07 * K4rush has quit (Quit: :::: ( UPP ) ::::)
  141. Aug 10 18:13:08 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Explain this: http://biblehub.com/1_samuel/15-3.htm
  142. Aug 10 18:13:20 <Firedingo> Actually I'd be completely calm on the outside my inside would freaking out but not as much as red flags and fight or flight would be happening though
  143. Aug 10 18:13:54 <mDiyo> God's compassion does not account for destroying the entire people of Amalek. That is genocide.
  144. Aug 10 18:14:13 <mDiyo> Heh
  145. Aug 10 18:14:20 <mDiyo> Freak out moar :P
  146. Aug 10 18:14:25 <Firedingo> and extinction of sorts
  147. Aug 10 18:14:36 <MrGwie> btw to come back on the wive is property of their husbands: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/b/r1/lp-e/nwt/E/2013/49/5#h=27:0-27:226
  148. Aug 10 18:14:40 <MrGwie> 28 and 29
  149. Aug 10 18:14:52 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Let me very clear about this.
  150. Aug 10 18:14:58 <Firedingo> You really want me to freak out Diyo? I know how you can freak me out without even having to be here :P
  151. Aug 10 18:15:14 <mDiyo> I'm asking what you think. I'm not asking you to link to the same verse as I linked.
  152. Aug 10 18:15:35 <mDiyo> That does not say what you say and it does not excuse the contradictions in your perfect book.
  153. Aug 10 18:15:41 <MrGwie> you were asking what I believe, this is what :)
  154. Aug 10 18:16:02 <mDiyo> So... you believe that god should commit genocide?
  155. Aug 10 18:17:39 <Firedingo> I disagree with "Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is head of his wife just as the Christ is head of the congregation, he being a savior of this body. In fact, as the congregation is in subjection to the Christ, wives should also be to their husbands in everything."
  156. Aug 10 18:18:30 <mDiyo> Let me try a different tactic.
  157. Aug 10 18:18:44 <mDiyo> Why do you believe the bible is true MrGwie?
  158. Aug 10 18:18:48 <MrGwie> yes
  159. Aug 10 18:19:00 <Firedingo> I was brought up without religion but even as I look and learn about religions........I still believe that a man and woman are two equals, different but equal. That is me however.
  160. Aug 10 18:19:29 <MrGwie> btw, you can't say that its not true and as proof one verse
  161. Aug 10 18:19:36 <mDiyo> Why not?
  162. Aug 10 18:19:58 <mDiyo> To be fair, I linked hundreds of verses earlier. infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html
  163. Aug 10 18:20:02 * Tatsu agrees with Firedingo on this one but sits this one out as I have no deep knowledge of the texts in question
  164. Aug 10 18:20:05 <MrGwie> cuz if you read it all you already know the answer
  165. Aug 10 18:20:27 <mDiyo> Why do people read it more than once?
  166. Aug 10 18:20:46 <MrGwie> you asked me: should god commit genocide
  167. Aug 10 18:20:59 <Firedingo> my guess is they've forgotten or they are still looking for something
  168. Aug 10 18:21:03 <mDiyo> God should commit genocide. The answer is yes?
  169. Aug 10 18:21:20 <mDiyo> Remind me never to promise god or get him to promise me anything.
  170. Aug 10 18:21:24 <MrGwie> but do you know why god was gonna kill all people from Amalek?
  171. Aug 10 18:21:37 <Firedingo> enlighten us MrGwie?
  172. Aug 10 18:21:48 <MrGwie> translating :)
  173. Aug 10 18:22:16 <mDiyo> Whatever it was, there was no mercy at all.
  174. Aug 10 18:23:50 <MrGwie> you know when israel was traveling to where israel is now?
  175. Aug 10 18:24:03 <Firedingo> genocide as far as I can tell is not the answer. I remember reading a story from Celtic origin where a naughty fairy tricked a God and as punishment the god didn't kill the fairy, the god transformed the fairy into a tree to serve as a prison until the fairy learned from its mistakes.
  176. Aug 10 18:24:58 <MrGwie> at it wasn't genocide btw
  177. Aug 10 18:26:25 <MrGwie> the king of Amalek didn't die
  178. Aug 10 18:26:38 <Firedingo> ok so what happened then?
  179. Aug 10 18:26:42 <MrGwie> and here is why they had to die: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/bl/r1/lp-e?q=exodus%2017
  180. Aug 10 18:26:45 <MrGwie> from verse 8
  181. Aug 10 18:27:15 <mDiyo> Yes, leaving one person alive in a nation is't genocide
  182. Aug 10 18:27:34 <MrGwie> the king wasn't supposed to live though
  183. Aug 10 18:27:35 <mDiyo> MrGwie: In your own words, why did the people of Amalek have to die?
  184. Aug 10 18:27:39 <Firedingo> why did they go fight them though? No one goes to war unless there is a good reason.
  185. Aug 10 18:28:06 <Firedingo> Hell even those crazy bankers had a good reason for war.
  186. Aug 10 18:28:11 <MrGwie> because they attacked gods people while gods people didn't do them anything
  187. Aug 10 18:28:42 <Tatsu> Theres always two sides to the story.
  188. Aug 10 18:28:54 <Tatsu> Whats the other side of this one?
  189. Aug 10 18:28:59 <Firedingo> so you're saying they're warmongers, they enjoy war and they don't care about peace? I feel like part of the reason is still missing
  190. Aug 10 18:29:00 <MrGwie> they were trying to kill isreal who was just passing the terretory
  191. Aug 10 18:29:16 <Firedingo> So they felt threatened?
  192. Aug 10 18:29:23 <mDiyo> They were tresspassing?
  193. Aug 10 18:29:32 <MrGwie> yes
  194. Aug 10 18:30:09 <Firedingo> They were protecting their homes......that hardly warrants death if you ask me. It was a survival instinct
  195. Aug 10 18:30:15 <MrGwie> the people of Amalek were also sortof brothers to israel
  196. Aug 10 18:30:41 <MrGwie> they were the nation that came from Esau, Jacobs brother
  197. Aug 10 18:30:46 <mDiyo> So the israelites tresspassed on their brother's land, imposing their will as an entire nation marched across it.
  198. Aug 10 18:30:54 <mDiyo> Probably destroying the land in the process.
  199. Aug 10 18:30:58 <Firedingo> ^
  200. Aug 10 18:31:01 <MrGwie> >_>
  201. Aug 10 18:31:03 <MrGwie> <_<
  202. Aug 10 18:31:19 <Tatsu> Yeah that actually sounds like what humans would do
  203. Aug 10 18:31:24 <mDiyo> The israelites also believed they were the chosen ones.
  204. Aug 10 18:31:33 <mDiyo> They may have antagonized the people on the way.
  205. Aug 10 18:31:41 <Firedingo> well imagine if I walked 5000 people all over your yard MrGwie? How would you feel?
  206. Aug 10 18:31:49 <mDiyo> It wasn't 5000, it was more than that.
  207. Aug 10 18:31:55 <MrGwie> few milion
  208. Aug 10 18:32:02 <MrGwie> ish
  209. Aug 10 18:32:02 <Firedingo> meh still gets the point across
  210. Aug 10 18:32:25 <Firedingo> I'm saying lots of people and 5000 was the first number in my head :P
  211. Aug 10 18:32:45 <Tatsu> Early religions were also forceful. That could explain a few things
  212. Aug 10 18:33:45 <mDiyo> Why did god's mercy not extend to the region on which the israelites were tresspassing on?
  213. Aug 10 18:35:06 <MrGwie> cuz they didn't wan't to obey the god of isreal
  214. Aug 10 18:35:13 <MrGwie> but one nation wanted
  215. Aug 10 18:35:33 <MrGwie> and that nation didn't die
  216. Aug 10 18:36:13 <mDiyo> How many people in the nation died?
  217. Aug 10 18:37:05 <MrGwie> and this what israel said to the kings when they were about to tresspass their land: Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through any field or vineyard, and we will not drink the water of any well. We will march on the King’s Road without turning to the right or the left until we pass through your territory
  218. Aug 10 18:37:39 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Did they follow what they said?
  219. Aug 10 18:37:44 <MrGwie> yes
  220. Aug 10 18:37:53 <mDiyo> What proof do you have that they did this?
  221. Aug 10 18:38:05 <MrGwie> However, Eʹdom said to him: “You may not pass through our territory. If you do, I will come out with the sword to meet you.” 19 In turn the Israelites said to him: “By the highway we will go up, and if we and our livestock drink your water, we will pay for it.+ We want nothing more than to pass through on foot.”+ 20 Still he said: “You may not pass through.”+ With that Eʹdom came out to encounter him with many people and a strong a
  222. Aug 10 18:38:05 <MrGwie> ʹdom refused to allow Israel to pass through his territory; therefore, Israel turned away from him.+
  223. Aug 10 18:38:05 <MrGwie> 22 The people of Israel, the entire assembly, departed from Kaʹdesh and came to Mount Hor.
  224. Aug 10 18:38:21 <MrGwie> maybe a link was better :|
  225. Aug 10 18:38:30 <MrGwie> http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=numbers+20
  226. Aug 10 18:39:04 <MrGwie> from verse 14
  227. Aug 10 18:39:11 <MrGwie> thats the whole story
  228. Aug 10 18:39:13 <mDiyo> So... they had to die because they were defending their land.
  229. Aug 10 18:39:19 <mDiyo> Is that right?
  230. Aug 10 18:39:21 <Tatsu> Did he ever explain why they would refuse him passage?
  231. Aug 10 18:39:49 <MrGwie> this is a different nation Diyo :)
  232. Aug 10 18:39:53 <mDiyo> ...
  233. Aug 10 18:40:01 <mDiyo> Okay MrGwie, you're an idiot.
  234. Aug 10 18:40:25 <mDiyo> Do not use separate things to argue one nation getting KILLED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH
  235. Aug 10 18:40:29 <MrGwie> this nation was also family btw
  236. Aug 10 18:40:44 <mDiyo> I don't give a fuck about that, your beliefs are flawed.
  237. Aug 10 18:41:08 <mDiyo> You believe that the word is perfect by applying disparate stories and events to the same thing, trying to justify them all together somehow.
  238. Aug 10 18:41:54 <mDiyo> You're trying to cover your mistaken belief by going further into it, but you're twisting it to your own ends.
  239. Aug 10 18:42:34 <Firedingo> That sounds exactly like how the Bible tries to justify itself to me Diyo.
  240. Aug 10 18:42:43 <mDiyo> You mean like this? http://rationalwiki.org/w/images/thumb/7/78/Bible_cycle.jpg/400px-Bible_cycle.jpg
  241. Aug 10 18:43:00 <mDiyo> The bible is true because it's the word of god because it says it is so it must be true.
  242. Aug 10 18:43:06 <Firedingo> yes1 Exactly like that.
  243. Aug 10 18:43:13 <Tatsu> mhm..
  244. Aug 10 18:43:30 <mDiyo> What happens if you show a single contradiction in the bible?
  245. Aug 10 18:43:37 <mDiyo> Hell, how about hundreds?
  246. Aug 10 18:43:48 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Does your bible have the old and new testaments in it?
  247. Aug 10 18:43:54 <MrGwie> ofc
  248. Aug 10 18:43:56 <Firedingo> Unfortunately the bible lacks even circumstantial evidence to support it which doesn't help its case
  249. Aug 10 18:44:03 <mDiyo> So you have the Jewish bible and the Christian bible?
  250. Aug 10 18:44:22 <mDiyo> Did you know there are two gods, one for each testament?
  251. Aug 10 18:44:28 <MrGwie> the first christians were jewish before so yes
  252. Aug 10 18:44:45 <MrGwie> yes on the bible question
  253. Aug 10 18:44:54 <mDiyo> The first christians were a rebuke of the jews.
  254. Aug 10 18:45:24 <Firedingo> And Random fact Nero use to use Christians as human torches too.
  255. Aug 10 18:45:32 <MrGwie> yup
  256. Aug 10 18:45:42 <mDiyo> I'll let you be for now.
  257. Aug 10 18:46:02 <MrGwie> ?
  258. Aug 10 18:46:12 <mDiyo> Just know that the god in the old testament is an entity that gets angry when his children are threatened, and the god in the new testament is not an entity at all.
  259. Aug 10 18:46:25 <Firedingo> So I can insert my thoughts and comments now Diyo?
  260. Aug 10 18:46:27 <MrGwie> not to me
  261. Aug 10 18:46:30 <mDiyo> Go for it.
  262. Aug 10 18:46:37 <mDiyo> MrGwie: But it's true?
  263. Aug 10 18:46:48 <MrGwie> maybe for you
  264. Aug 10 18:46:53 <MrGwie> not for me :)
  265. Aug 10 18:46:58 <mDiyo> Your beliefs are untrue.
  266. Aug 10 18:47:00 <mDiyo> >_>
  267. Aug 10 18:47:04 * Tatsu sighs
  268. Aug 10 18:47:25 <MrGwie> I think the same of yours :)
  269. Aug 10 18:47:30 <Firedingo> For one This whole conversation has made me go from it's completely illogical to I swear there's an element of control there. Would I be right in thinking control system Diyo?
  270. Aug 10 18:47:39 <MrGwie> thats befiefe :)
  271. Aug 10 18:47:52 <mDiyo> I can demonstrate your beliefs are untrue.
  272. Aug 10 18:48:10 <MrGwie> demonstrate in your reality :)
  273. Aug 10 18:48:27 <mDiyo> Why did all of the women, children, and animals that god killed have to die?
  274. Aug 10 18:48:54 <MrGwie> thats not a demonstration
  275. Aug 10 18:48:57 <Firedingo> I can't decide if MrGwie is a sucker for punishment in sense or just really believes what he's saying as well.
  276. Aug 10 18:48:59 <MrGwie> thats a question
  277. Aug 10 18:49:12 <Tatsu> A valid question
  278. Aug 10 18:49:17 <Tatsu> One of logic, and reason
  279. Aug 10 18:49:18 <Firedingo> questions can lead to demonstrations
  280. Aug 10 18:49:35 <mDiyo> Demonstrations can take multiple forms. Answer the question?
  281. Aug 10 18:50:08 <mDiyo> Armies back then were entirely men and the men would be the ones protecting everything. They were the soldiers and the rulers.
  282. Aug 10 18:50:10 <MrGwie> answer the question in your reality or mine?
  283. Aug 10 18:50:26 <Firedingo> how about both MrGwie?
  284. Aug 10 18:50:34 <mDiyo> Do you believe that my reality is not the same as yours?
  285. Aug 10 18:50:42 <MrGwie> I can't answer it in his reality
  286. Aug 10 18:50:49 <MrGwie> cuz its his and not mine
  287. Aug 10 18:50:57 <Firedingo> I say walk a mile in Diyo's shoes and you might be surprised.
  288. Aug 10 18:51:16 <Firedingo> But if you know Diyo enough you could hazard a guess MrGwie
  289. Aug 10 18:52:27 <Tatsu> I could actually hazard a guess, I'm not sure I'd be correct, but I could easily hazard a guess.
  290. Aug 10 18:52:44 <Firedingo> by all means Tatsu, I'm open ears.
  291. Aug 10 18:52:49 <mDiyo> Go for it.
  292. Aug 10 18:53:13 <mDiyo> I do want MrGwie to answer though.
  293. Aug 10 18:53:24 <MrGwie> I could answer the question but Diyo will doubt my answer as he doesn't believe that the bible is true and that what the bible says about god it true
  294. Aug 10 18:53:46 <MrGwie> but I understand why you have that question though
  295. Aug 10 18:53:56 <Firedingo> So give us a reason other than the bible as the source for why the bible is true MrGwie.
  296. Aug 10 18:53:56 <mDiyo> Of course I doubt it's true. I've read the bible.
  297. Aug 10 18:54:05 <MrGwie> me 1
  298. Aug 10 18:54:07 <MrGwie> 2*
  299. Aug 10 18:54:34 <MrGwie> and I don't doubt it
  300. Aug 10 18:54:58 <Tatsu> Because the god in that specific circumstance is a force of nature. One that cannot be understood. Whether that force of nature is a man, or whether its an element of nature itself (IE: the great flood)
  301. Aug 10 18:55:12 <Firedingo> The question is why don't you? What is it that convinced you the bible was telling the truth?
  302. Aug 10 18:55:36 <MrGwie> thats the right question :)
  303. Aug 10 18:56:28 <Tatsu> I'm of the belief that Pandora's box is ultimately a harmless trinket. Last I checked, it wasn't the box itself that unleased the vast suffering, nor was it pandora herself.
  304. Aug 10 18:56:54 <Tatsu> Although history may disagree...
  305. Aug 10 18:56:57 <mDiyo> So... answer the question?
  306. Aug 10 18:57:09 <Firedingo> let me guess, she was but a domino in a chain that lead to that Tatsu?
  307. Aug 10 18:57:22 <mDiyo> MrGwie: Why do you believe the bible is perfect?
  308. Aug 10 18:58:08 <Tatsu> In a sense: yes Firedingo, a chain in which she had little control over the outcome. People in that time hated her, and she was almost crucified for being a witch.
  309. Aug 10 18:58:15 <MrGwie> for short: I know the bible very well
  310. Aug 10 18:58:43 <mDiyo> You know what the bible says so you believe it is perfect?
  311. Aug 10 18:58:53 <Firedingo> Do you have a source other than the bible for why the bible is so good MrGwie?
  312. Aug 10 18:59:18 <mDiyo> Have you heard of the term "blind faith"?
  313. Aug 10 18:59:21 <Tatsu> They did not understand her, Nor did they understand what she was doing, nor what was in her small, unimpressive wooden box
  314. Aug 10 18:59:36 <Firedingo> That's just what I was thinking mDiyo.
  315. Aug 10 18:59:52 <Tatsu> So they attempted trial by fire.
  316. Aug 10 18:59:55 <MrGwie> Blind faith is no faith at all
  317. Aug 10 19:00:14 <Firedingo> Cause All I'm hearing is bible = bible = bible MrGwie. There's no x = y = perfect bible.
  318. Aug 10 19:00:16 <mDiyo> What faith do you have in the bible other than what you've read of it?
  319. Aug 10 19:00:27 <MrGwie> for example verse 7: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/l/r1/lp-e?q=Job+26
  320. Aug 10 19:01:07 * akvgergo (~unknown@adsl-89-134-11-42.monradsl.monornet.hu) has joined
  321. Aug 10 19:01:31 <MrGwie> another example verse 22: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/bl/r1/lp-e?q=isaiah%2040
  322. Aug 10 19:01:32 <Firedingo> I believe the sun rises without the need to sacrifice children because 1) I've seen it myself 2) Science tells me so and 3) Other people have told me so thus 3 sources telling me the same thing not just one.
  323. Aug 10 19:01:36 <MrGwie> how did they know?
  324. Aug 10 19:02:06 <mDiyo> How do you know?
  325. Aug 10 19:02:09 <MrGwie> at that time people believed that the earth was flat and was resting on some big animals
  326. Aug 10 19:02:17 <MrGwie> sience
  327. Aug 10 19:02:26 <MrGwie> the bible matches with it :)
  328. Aug 10 19:02:28 <Tatsu> and even after that, people believed the earth was the center of the universe
  329. Aug 10 19:02:56 <MrGwie> correct Tatsu: so how did Job and Isaiah know?
  330. Aug 10 19:02:57 <mDiyo> Galileo was imprisoned for saying the earth was round by the church.
  331. Aug 10 19:03:00 <Firedingo> For a long time people believed sailing to Australia would mean falling off the earth too.
  332. Aug 10 19:03:16 <Tatsu> They only ASS U ME 'd
  333. Aug 10 19:03:26 <mDiyo> The bible does not rely on science.
  334. Aug 10 19:03:34 <MrGwie> Galileo was many many years after Job and Isaiah
  335. Aug 10 19:03:36 <Firedingo> Nostradamus wrote all his prophecies in code because of the church.
  336. Aug 10 19:04:02 <MrGwie> the bible was first with that knowlege
  337. Aug 10 19:04:10 <MrGwie> the bible doesn't rely on sience
  338. Aug 10 19:04:14 <MrGwie> thats right
  339. Aug 10 19:04:45 <Firedingo> but if science and the bible match then science should be able to prove what the bible says yet science can not. Why is that MrGwie?
  340. Aug 10 19:04:51 <mDiyo> The bible says the earth cannot be moved. http://biblehub.com/psalms/96-10.htm
  341. Aug 10 19:04:52 <MrGwie> the bible doesn't need 'sience' to be true, sience proofs that its true
  342. Aug 10 19:05:02 <mDiyo> Science proves that it is false.
  343. Aug 10 19:05:22 <mDiyo> What science proves that it is true?
  344. Aug 10 19:05:22 <MrGwie> the earth doesn't leave its orbit
  345. Aug 10 19:05:29 <Firedingo> I'm less likely to believe anythign the bible says because it has no science backing it
  346. Aug 10 19:05:30 <Tatsu> Everything the bible has said, I take with a grain of both truth and lies.
  347. Aug 10 19:06:00 <MrGwie> not for me
  348. Aug 10 19:06:10 <Tatsu> for example
  349. Aug 10 19:06:14 <MrGwie> I know the bible well and it doesn't lie
  350. Aug 10 19:06:19 <Tatsu> "The great flood that encompassed the world"
  351. Aug 10 19:06:25 <Tatsu> no it did not encompass the world
  352. Aug 10 19:06:36 <mDiyo> The earth cannot be moved. <-- how is that true?
  353. Aug 10 19:06:39 <Firedingo> I find it quite interesting but I certainly do not believe a word of the bible and I answered these same questions many years ago when what I was being told and what I had been raised with didn't match up
  354. Aug 10 19:06:41 <Tatsu> only a tiny fraction of it. Only the world which the bible knew
  355. Aug 10 19:07:02 <MrGwie> "The earth is firmly established, it cannot be moved"
  356. Aug 10 19:07:06 <Firedingo> explain that 1 second that we had to gain because we were going slower then MrGwie?
  357. Aug 10 19:07:08 <Tatsu> which- funnily enough is in between two rivers in modern day iraq
  358. Aug 10 19:07:18 <MrGwie> earth doesn't leave its orbit
  359. Aug 10 19:07:42 <mDiyo> No, the book says it does not move.
  360. Aug 10 19:07:47 <Firedingo> So how come science has proof the orbit of the earth has changed in the past MrGwie?
  361. Aug 10 19:07:54 <MrGwie> the books says its firmly established
  362. Aug 10 19:08:09 <mDiyo> Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
  363. Aug 10 19:08:17 <Firedingo> Science tells me the orbit changes more than you would believe.
  364. Aug 10 19:08:22 <Tatsu> MrGwie: The earth DOES move. In a perpetual falling state through the sun's gravity
  365. Aug 10 19:08:30 <Firedingo> ^
  366. Aug 10 19:08:33 <MrGwie> well, it didn't move did it? we are not next to pluto now
  367. Aug 10 19:08:34 <mDiyo> A visualization of how the earth moves: http://media0.giphy.com/media/KvukGjDlASaf6/giphy.gif
  368. Aug 10 19:08:58 <mDiyo> The earth does move. We have summer and winter and the axis of the earth tilts depending on where we are.
  369. Aug 10 19:09:10 <MrGwie> but we don't go out our orbit
  370. Aug 10 19:09:22 <Firedingo> there is also the pull of the moon to some degree as well
  371. Aug 10 19:09:38 <mDiyo> But the earth does move throughout the galaxy, and consequently the universe.
  372. Aug 10 19:10:06 <MrGwie> also: if it said: earth doesn't leave its orbit the people wouldn't understand what the bible was talking about
  373. Aug 10 19:10:09 <mDiyo> The bible says the earth "will not be moved". Why are you assuming that means from its orbit?
  374. Aug 10 19:10:21 <mDiyo> What-ifs do not count to the book.
  375. Aug 10 19:10:25 <MrGwie> the earth doesn't move for us
  376. Aug 10 19:10:44 <mDiyo> Who wrote the verse?
  377. Aug 10 19:11:22 <Firedingo> "For more than a century scientists have known that Earth's ice ages are caused by the wobbling of the planet's orbit, which changes its orientation to the sun and affects the amount of sunlight reaching higher latitudes, particularly the polar regions. " - http://phys.org/news/2013-08-earth-orbit-key-antarctic-ice.html
  378. Aug 10 19:11:51 <Tatsu> The orbit does move
  379. Aug 10 19:12:03 <Tatsu> In the same way a pendulum's orbit around the center moves
  380. Aug 10 19:12:11 <Firedingo> ^
  381. Aug 10 19:12:17 <MrGwie> btw: what are you trying to do Diyo?
  382. Aug 10 19:12:29 <mDiyo> I'm trying to prove to you that the bible is not perfect.
  383. Aug 10 19:12:33 <MrGwie> asking what I believe or trying to ruin mine?
  384. Aug 10 19:13:02 <mDiyo> I'm asking that you re-examine your beliefs, as they are based on ignorance and assumptions.
  385. Aug 10 19:13:24 <MrGwie> I am re-axamineing it almost every day
  386. Aug 10 19:13:36 <MrGwie> I read the bible and I'm reading it again
  387. Aug 10 19:13:38 <Firedingo> we don't want you to stop believing MrGwie we want to to have more than because the bible says so as a reason for believing in something
  388. Aug 10 19:13:50 <Tatsu> mhm
  389. Aug 10 19:14:36 <mDiyo> What I would like is for you to find spirituality, not just belief.
  390. Aug 10 19:15:01 <Firedingo> For example, I write a book and the book says the sky is purple. People say the sky is purple because the book says so therefore it must be right. Do you see what we're getting at MrGwie?
  391. Aug 10 19:15:09 <MrGwie> I already have spirituality
  392. Aug 10 19:15:10 <Glassmaker> nini :)
  393. Aug 10 19:15:22 <Tatsu> Sleep well Glassmaker
  394. Aug 10 19:15:23 <Firedingo> night Glassmaker, Sleep well o/ <3
  395. Aug 10 19:15:25 <mDiyo> What is spirituality?
  396. Aug 10 19:15:31 <MrGwie> goodnight Glassmaker :)
  397. Aug 10 19:15:40 <Firedingo> May you dream of beautiful dreamland in your sleep :)
  398. Aug 10 19:15:56 <MrGwie> the question is: what is spirituality to you?
  399. Aug 10 19:16:18 <mDiyo> Spirituality to me is... wait a minute, you don't actually know, do you?
  400. Aug 10 19:16:42 <Firedingo> I think MrGwie may have missed a lot of the talks mDiyo.
  401. Aug 10 19:16:51 <Tatsu> ^
  402. Aug 10 19:17:39 <Tatsu> I have my own answer to that question, but MrGwie, I'd like to hear yours.
  403. Aug 10 19:17:43 <Firedingo> MrGwie, will you try and have an open mind to what's going to be said. Disregard whether it matches the bible or not and simple accept that it is an option until later?
  404. Aug 10 19:18:15 <mDiyo> It's a bit late to talk about that tonight.
  405. Aug 10 19:18:16 <MrGwie> I have an open mind, but you guys should also have it towards the bible
  406. Aug 10 19:18:39 <mDiyo> I don't believe you have an open mind about the bible.
  407. Aug 10 19:18:43 <Firedingo> Tomorrow then maybe Diyo.
  408. Aug 10 19:18:52 <Firedingo> I concur with you Diyo
  409. Aug 10 19:18:55 <mDiyo> You have faith in the perfection of the bible, regardless of whether it is or not.
  410. Aug 10 19:19:04 <mDiyo> That's about as closed minded as you can get.
  411. Aug 10 19:19:21 <Tatsu> I do have an open mind. However, I know for a fact that the bible contains both truths and lies.
  412. Aug 10 19:19:35 <Tatsu> including incomplete truths.

  414. Aug 10 19:20:15 <MrGwie> spirituality is notion of god and notion that you need god, btw
  415. Aug 10 19:20:33 <Firedingo> I feel like the bible is portraying itself in a way that is untrue to its sources but that is me personally.
  416. Aug 10 19:21:01 <mDiyo> We can argue more later. For now, I'll be off.
  417. Aug 10 19:21:08 <Firedingo> spirituality doesn't have to include God. It can do but does not have to.
  418. Aug 10 19:21:12 <Tatsu> Take care Diyo
  419. Aug 10 19:21:14 <MrGwie> Tatsu: that's not true, religions have made the lies
  420. Aug 10 19:21:22 <MrGwie> goodnight diyo :)
  421. Aug 10 19:21:32 <Firedingo> Sleep well mDiyo and I'll ask my questions of you tomorrow
  422. Aug 10 19:21:35 <Tatsu> It is true.
  423. Aug 10 19:21:55 <MrGwie> are we starting again? xD
  424. Aug 10 19:22:05 <Firedingo> starting?
  425. Aug 10 19:22:27 <MrGwie> true! not true! true! not true! xD
  426. Aug 10 19:22:36 <Firedingo> oh..........

  428. Aug 10 19:22:54 <MrGwie> everyone is allowed to have his own faith
  429. Aug 10 19:22:58 <MrGwie> and I respect that

  443. Aug 11 15:14:13 <mDiyo> I don't want to know about your faith, I want to know what you think about spirituality.
  444. Aug 11 15:14:45 <Firedingo> How much do you know about spirituality MrGwie?
  445. Aug 11 15:15:37 <MrGwie> enough to serve god and believe in the bible
  446. Aug 11 15:15:52 <mDiyo> What is spirituality to you?
  447. Aug 11 15:18:08 <MrGwie> Spirituality to me is notion of god and notion that you need god to have a better life.
  448. Aug 11 15:18:22 <mDiyo> That's faith.
  449. Aug 11 15:18:29 <mDiyo> Or religion.
  450. Aug 11 15:18:36 <mDiyo> The two tend to get mixed together.
  451. Aug 11 15:19:17 <mDiyo> Have you ever examined your spirit? Even just to see what it is?
  452. Aug 11 15:20:13 <MrGwie> explain?

  454. Aug 11 15:20:22 <mDiyo> That would be a no.
  455. Aug 11 15:20:36 <MrGwie> not on your way I guess :)
  456. Aug 11 15:20:37 <mDiyo> Would you like an explanation on how to do such?
  457. Aug 11 15:21:16 <mDiyo> You have a soul. Do you know how to access it, or even just to tell that it's there?
  458. Aug 11 15:22:01 <MrGwie> not how you access it or know its there :)
  459. Aug 11 15:22:09 <mDiyo> Even the bible says you have a soul. It doesn't tell you what it is or how it got there or what is purpose is.
  460. Aug 11 15:22:39 <mDiyo> Are you sure you're happy about not knowing what your soul is? :)
  461. Aug 11 15:25:17 <mDiyo> I could tell you how. It doesn't take faith; the connection already lies within you.
  462. Aug 11 15:25:30 <mDiyo> The only one you have to rely on is yourself.
  463. Aug 11 15:25:44 <MrGwie> Professor C. A. Briggs, as a result of detailed analysis of the use of neʹphesh, observed: “Soul in English usage at the present time conveys usually a very different meaning from נפש [neʹphesh] in Hebrew :)

  466. Aug 11 15:26:30 <mDiyo> No, sentience is the ability to learn from your surroundings to create new things.
  467. Aug 11 15:26:47 <mDiyo> The soul is a part of human beings.
  468. Aug 11 15:27:05 <Fandroid> Consciousness?
  469. Aug 11 15:27:20 <MrGwie> sould in the bible refers most of the time to the human itself :)

  474. Aug 11 15:28:42 <mDiyo> You have a soul. You are not a soul.
  475. Aug 11 15:29:01 <mDiyo> The bible is inconsistent with its meaning of soul because it does not separate the soul from the individual.

  497. Aug 11 15:33:47 <MrGwie> but I was interesting to talk with you about this
  498. Aug 11 15:34:00 <mDiyo> You can go wallow in your own world of blind faith and ignorance for all I care.
  499. Aug 11 15:35:16 <Fandroid> It's generally not a good idea to talk about religion.
  500. Aug 11 15:35:19 <MrGwie> hey, I haven't ever said about you that what you have no mind because of what you believe. I expect the same of you.
  501. Aug 11 15:35:52 <Firedingo> The issue I have MrGwie is that you have no reason why you believe. You just accept it because it's told to you. It's not for example like you believe people shouldn't kill each other therefore the bible says that so the bible aligns with your personal beliefs. You also seem like you're incapable of putting things in your own words even if you feel they're not that good I would still rather hear what you had to say.
  502. Aug 11 15:35:53 <mDiyo> You expect me to constantly link bible verses and only engage with what someone else has said?
  503. Aug 11 15:35:58 <MrGwie> as long as both sides have respect for the other side its not a problem at all Fandroid :)
  504. Aug 11 15:36:37 <mDiyo> Well, then quit interjecting a source so often it becomes a third side.
  505. Aug 11 15:36:40 <MrGwie> Firedingo: thats not true, I don't accept what they tell me

  511. Aug 11 15:37:47 <mDiyo> You're becoming a book, very flat and uninteresting.
  512. Aug 11 15:37:53 <Firedingo> He seems more like a reference system for the bible to me Diyo :|
  513. Aug 11 15:39:12 <MrGwie> I have seen that following bible principals is a better way of life, and I'm happy every day that I do so.
  514. Aug 11 15:40:10 <Firedingo> This I think is a good definition of a Soul - "the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal."
