Type chrome:plugins in the address bar

Find "Flash" in the list (I don't think they're in alphabetical order)

If Chrome shows 2 (or more) files installed, then click +Details button in the uppermost righthand corner of the plugins screen - this will expand all of the plugins, and show you each version of Flash that's installed.

Disable all but the most recent version number of Flash.

Exit out of Chrome and restart. You should be good to go. (Might not even require a full exit/restart - you could probably just close and reopen, but I wanted to be sure).

Worked for me and got rid of what was becoming a real annoyance
