  1. Playtonic wouldn't have done this if the people on NeoGAF weren't screaming to have him taken out. We should be striving to minimize the consequences free speech has. Everyone who supports that tactic must ask themselves...

  4. And I understand very well that JonTron didn't really have anything to lose from this but imagine if they fired one of their own employees. This tactic can be used on anyone.

Firing a person for what is considered casual racism, but in reality is lacking any actual hatred or incitement of violence/breaking the law is essentially just taking food off their plate because they committed wrongthink. In some cases, you could literally be making someone and their family homeless because of their viewpoints. It's so blatantly anti-free speech.

We should not incentivize employers to fire people over their viewpoints (and at any rate, Jon was already in the game and paid long ago, they're patching him out, he's not "working for" Playtonic in the sense that he can't be fired from Playtonic; he was doing freelance voicework). Jon has never said he wants to hurt people or allow businesses to not serve people based on race, or something like that. If people don't have jobs, they can't feed themselves, or their family/children (it's irrelevant that Jon doesn't have children because this tactic can be used on people who do).

  10. I was looking forward to getting this game on launch, but now I'm glad I didn't fund it on Kickstarter. And they're not refunding customers from Kickstarter, either. You'd think they wouldn't want those dirty JonTron-supporting racists' money, but I guess all money is good money to Playtonic.

  15. Chukwu Obviously discrimination "exists" everywhere. Some amount of it will always exist unless you can force everyone in society to always act impartially towards everyone else at all times. But on the level that western society in general would have people believe, Discrimination does not exist.

  17. It doesn't have to be a foreign conspiracy to outbreed the native population. If the numbers are right, it will happen. In most western countries now, immigration rate is higher than replacement rate of the native population. If people immigrating are not integrating, then at a certain point, the native population/culture _will_ die. Mexican immigrants largely are integrating though, which is why wage deflation and illegal immigration are the largest issues on that front because wage deflation hurts everyone including immigrants, and it's almost impossible to integrate when you're breaking the law by default.

  22. And I will mention, the idea of immigrating, then outbreeding the native population of an area is an idea that has been seriously put out in recent years. Like discrimination, this idea also exists.

  27. It's an inherent flaw of the way our system works. It is possible for people to immigrate, convince the people to be sympathetic towards a certain idea or people, and have the majority vote it into office at their own expense. We need to be aware of the weaknesses of our system to be able to use it well.

  50. It honestly doesn't matter what he says. He could say literally anything, and I would still want him in the game. But he doesn't even hold any hatred for a race and even caved and apologized, and admitted his views weren't expressed well, but it doesn't matter. I'm against any developer removing content over politically-motivated reasons.
