  1. Welp, let’s get this done. Time to dump the plot for Underpuff and put this all to rest. This way, no one is left wondering what could have been. And I can move on to things I’m more passionate about.
  2.
  3. This is going to be long and complicated, so sit down, grab some popcorn, and pay attention. Bear in mind this will just be a summary of the events, and will not go into full detail as to how conversations go, what specifically happens, etc. So if anything seems odd or off, it will likely have been better in execution. (Or maybe it just actually sucked idk.)
  4.
  5. Before we even go into the Underpuff universe, we need to take a look into “canon” Kirby, just after the events of Robobot. Meta Knight has decided to take it upon himself to retrieve the pieces of Star Dream so that he can repurpose it for the advancement of protecting Popstar. He has gathered all the pieces required, and is working to rebuild it. Despite his technical knowledge, having built the Halberd and all, he unable to comprehend Star Dream’s advanced technology, and requires outside assistance. He begrudgingly enlists the help of Magolor, who he does not trust still due to the events of RtDL, and unlike Kirby and Dedede, is not so easily swayed by theme parks. Magolor however, is more than willing to help to regain MK’s trust, even if he is still just a reformed asshole.
  6.
  7. Eventually, they manage to finish fixing Star Dream to near 100% completion. But as they are fine tuning it and putting on the finishing touches, something goes horribly wrong, and they are transported through space and time, along with Star Dream, which breaks up again in the process.
  8.
  9. They are to be transported into the Team Kirby Clash Deluxe universe. However, in this plane, it’s own history has been going down. As I’ve said in the FAQ, some headcanons and theories were implemented to fill in certain gaps that needed to be filled, one of these being that Dedede has far more authority in the TKCD-verse. I came to this conclusion based off the act we never see the actual Dedede in TKCD, along with the fact instead of Dreamland it is now called the Dream Kingdom. But what really ties this theory together is Bandana Dee, who basically heads the plaza, and gives you Gem Apples, as well as giving plenty of tips and directing you to the questboard. As we all know, Bandana is Dedede’s right hand man, so having him run the plaza just makes sense if he were the King.
  10.
  11. With that out of the way, let’s get back to the backstory. In the TKCD-verse, Puffs are much more plentiful, being around the plaza, and you having a group of 4 to travel with. In the UP version of the TKCD-verse, the inhabitants of Popstar have taken notice, and grow weary of their increasing numbers. Puffs are very powerful, with seemingly infinite power, durability, and versatility. With these fears harboring, Dedede declares a surprise war on Puffs to strengthen his grip on them and control their numbers. But before he could do this, he needed to match the Puffs’ power, with numbers. He could do this with the help of a close friend of his, Paint Roller, who could draw objects to life to fight for him. Unfortunately, him alone would not be enough to match the Puffs’ strength. Until a little artist from far away paid a visit to Popstar.
  12.
  13. Adeleine was simply minding her business when Dedede confronted her, trying to get her to join up with his cause. Adeleine, being a nice girl always willing to help out, was convinced by Dedede that Puffs were a menace that needed to be kept under control, and decided to throw her brush into the ring, hoping to protect this planet from catastrophe. She practices painting alongside Paint Roller, along with the rest of the army. And when all preparations are set, they begin the attack.
  14.
  15. The Puffs, naturally not enjoying being attacked for dumb reasons, rebel against the force, led by a puff named Halburn. Halburn is in fact this universe’s Meta Knight, and has little reason to hide his identity. The battles are long and hard fought, but the Popstar inhabitants are making good headway. The guardian angel of the Kingdom, Landia, participates in battle as well, but is downed in one, with the crown on its head being severely damaged. It is however, kept by the inhabitants as a keepsake. The war however, continues in their favor, that is until the Puffs discover their artsy little strategy. With this known, Halburn manages to find a way into the back lines and wounds Adeleine, leaving her unable to do anything. With one of their artists down, Dedede’s army begins losing ground fast, all the way to losing the war on the whole.
  16.
  17. Disgusted by their actions, the Puffs decide to seal the other inhabitants in a Great Cave behind a magical barrier, to atone for their crimes. The barrier is incredibly strong, unable to be broken by any means. However, while it may be durable, it is not impassable. The strength of a puff’s near infinite energy with that of a lesser being could bypass it. But with no puffs in sight, that is but a dream.
  18.
  19. During the midst of this conflict, a chaotic purple jester comes to Popstar to indulge himself. His name is Marx, and he causes all sorts of trouble during his stay, committing pranks and doing all sorts of nasty things. He didn’t care for the war, and just stayed out of it, keeping to his own devices. However, upon the Puff’s victory, he was rounded up among others and cast into the cave without question. This would plant a hatred for both Puffs and Popstar’s population as a whole. A hatred that would soon flourish into vengeance and conquest.
  20.
  21. In the cave, the inhabitants grow unrestful. They are infuriated at Dedede for starting and losing the war, and getting them trapped down here. Among these individuals is Marx, and they band together in an attempt to overthrow Dedede. However, many still remain loyal to the King, and fight the resistance in an all out Civil War. Fortunately for the gluttonous penguin, they manage to win, and as punishment for the rebellion, banish all who participated into the jungle area of Sub Tree. During this conflict, Adeleine was sitting out recovering, watching the chaos from afar. While she watches this unfold, she wonders if she really did the right thing joining this mess and fighting the puffs.
  22.
  23. Time passes, and the rebels of Sub Tree have began to get comfortable. Marx’s hatred has festered more and more, and he constantly fantasizes of getting revenge on Dedede, the Puffs, and all of Popstar. However, being stuck in Sub Tree, with no power to wield, and no real plan to execute, simply bides his time. He wanders through the jungle, pondering constantly how he can get out of his situation.
  24.
  25. Meanwhile, above ground, a young, pink puff is wandering around, looking for a place to set up for a picnic. Their name is Kirby, and upon their gleeful stroll, accidentally falls into a hole in the ground, into a complex cavern below. They hit their head hard, and are knocked unconscious.
  26.
  27. Marx, on one of his many walks, ends up finding Kirby unconscious on the ground. Confused at first, he soon sees this as a potential opportunity to get his revenge. After all, how often will a Puff fall down here? He needs to use this while it’s here. Perhaps he could kill them right now, and take their soul. The soul of a puff contains a near infinite amount of power, one he could surely put to use if he were to absorb it. But unfortunately, even with all that power, he would surely be stopped by sheer numbers. He would need to take a more subtle, less violent approach. (At least for the beginning.) While he ponders what to do, the puff begins to move. With little time to think, Marx decides to improvise. He makes his wings vaish into his body, and adopts a more friendly face and demeanor. As the puff wakes up, Marx is forced to introduce himself.
  28.
  29. Kirby is naturally a bit startled, but being a generally super nice guy, (Often to a fault.) he quickly begins to like Marx and becomes friends with him. Surprised how easy that was, and with the Kirby having full trust in him already, he begins having to cook up a scheme in order to get his revenge. As he already thought, a full on assault by himself could not work. He would need a plan a bit more intricate in order to get back at Dedede. After much pondering, he gets a dastardly, albeit risky plan. He would bring Kirby to Dedede’s Castle and attempt to convince someone there to protect him, and let the both of them reside in the castle. He could use this position to take them down from the inside. The main problem would be finding someone gullible and naive enough to listen to him. Luckily, there was a little artist girl perfect for this.
  30.
  31. Marx and Kirby manage to sneak out of Sub Tree and and make their way to Dedede’s Castle, Mt Dedede. They wait until they manage to see Adeleine leaving and go and talk to her. Adeleine, having felt regret over the war and assumptions over Puffs, hears them out and goes to convince Dedede. After some arguing, Dedede begrudgingly let’s Kirby and Marx stay in the castle. Kirby is incredibly happy and thanks Adeleine a bunch, with them becoming close friends. Marx, on the other hand, cannot wait to start setting things in motion.
  32.
  33. In addition to Adeleine, Kirby gains many friends during his stay. From a hamster named Rick, a Fish called Kine, and many other Animal Friends, Kirby gets closed to many and is slowly admired by almost everyone. However, they were closer to no one else than a Waddle Dee wearing a Bandana. Bandana was Dedede’s right hand man, and through many interactions, Kirby and him became best friends. Bandana Dee, in many ways, looked up to Kirby a lot. His kindness, and often bravery inspired him to do better, and made him train himself in combat, and overall improve himself as a whole.
  34.
  35. Despite all these friendships blooming, there was one who had a lot of trouble accepting Kirby, Dedede. Kirby is a reminder of Dedede’s failure, and he hates this. Not only is he reminder of his failure to win the war, but he’s also a challenge to his view of puffs. Not being some big scary creature to be feared, but an overly sweet, kind kid, who only wants to be friends with everyone. Dedede challenges Kirby many times. Whether it be to battles, or other challenges, Dedede needs to remind himself he’s not some loser. But he loses. Everytime, no matter what he does. He constantly pushes Kirby away, even though Kirby would just want to be friends with him instead of enemies. Deep down, this makes a connection with Dedede.
  36.
  37. Marx during all of this, was busy as ever. Trying to use the resources now at his disposal to find some way to gets his revenge. Eventually, he discovered the ruins of Old Tower, which showed many glyphs from ancient times, seeming to depict certain prophecies and other worldly information. The most notable of these, was one detailing a clockwork star that travelled the Gamble Galaxy, summonable by using the power of the Dream Fountains that were housed on the many other stars around Popstar. Upon summoning this comet, the summoner would be granted one wish.
  38.
  39. This was perfect. Exactly what he needed! He could wish for complete domination over this stupid planet and its people. Nothing could possibly go wrong! ...Except for the fact Marx was stuck in this cave. Breaking the barrier was impossible, and once it was crossed, there was no getting out...Unless you could convince a puff to give up their near infinite power to allow them to cross. If Marx could convince Kirby to give up his soul, he could get out of here and finally get back at everyone of this five pointed rock. It was time for him to use Kirby’s naivety again.
  40.
  41. Marx went to Kirby, detailing what he found out. He says that with the power of the clockwork star, NOVA, they could use their wish to break the barrier and free all their new friends! However, the only way that this could be possible, was if Kirby killed himself and gave up his soul to Marx. Kirby, obviously apprehensive at first, decides that if it’s to help his new friends be free, it’s worth ending his life. Kirby takes a sword from the armory and uses it to end his life. Marx, giddy as can be, grabs his soul with zero hesitation, absorbing it into his body, and making his way towards and out of the barrier.
  42.
  43. Everything would’ve gone according to plan, but what Marx had not anticipated was Kirby essentially sharing Marx’s body rather than being controlled by it. Sharing the same mind, Kirby figures out Marx’s plan, and does everything in his power to try and stop Marx from leaving Popstar. As the two struggle for control, the fly wildly through the air, wreaking havoc as they fight. This captures the attention of the puffs, who since Halburn assumed control as their leader, have beefed up defenses and basically became a military state. They fire at them relentlessly, eventually knocking them out of the sky and into a forest of apple trees below. Kirby barely manages to usurp control in the heavily damaged body of Marx. Life fading from him, he picks apples off the trees and eats them in an attempt to stay alive. He begins making his way back to the cave.
  44.
  45. Meanwhile, back at the castle, everything is in panic. With a dead Kirby and a missing Marx, everyone is scrambling to figure out what is going on. They manage to find Marx’s research on the glyphs and magae to figure out that Marx and Kirby went out to summon NOVA. Dedede, Adeleine, and Bandana are losing their minds, trying to figure out what to do, when the Kirby controlled Marx comes back through the barrier, wounded, and carrying a couple apples. Barely able to stand, he collapses on the ground, and explodes in a burst of energy, which covers most of the room and and all objects enveloped in it.
  46.
  47. Seeing all the wounds caused by the Puffs on them before their death, Dedede loses it and goes int a rage. He begins ranting and raving that he’ll destroy the next puff that comes here and go to NOVA, wishing that he won the war. Adeleine attempts to calm him down and talk reason with him, but Dedede snaps at her. He believes her to be siding with the Puffs that just killed Kirby and Marx, and in his rage, banishes her to Sub Tree. Adeleine goes to pack up her things as guards escort her out of the castle.
  48.
  49. Kirby’s death absolutely breaks Dedede. The only person who wanted to truly be his friend is gone, and by the hands of the puffs on the surface, the thing that he wasn’t better than. This leads into Dedede’s rage and his goal to go to NOVA and wish he won the war. Dedede’s ego, fear, and loneliness have reached a tipping point, and causes him to make a rash decision, but not one he’ll back down from. He’ll prove himself over the next puff that falls, and get his revenge for himself, and Kirby.
  50.
  51. Bandana has now just lost his role model and best friend. Combining his loss with his loyalty to his King, he decides to do what he can to make sure Dedede’s plan succeeds, and prove to himself he can be just as strong and brave as Kirby was.
  52.
  53. Adeleine in the meantime, talks with the animal buddies, saying that they need to do whatever they can to help the next puff, should they get past Sub Tree. This is how the animal buddies end up being the shopkeepers for Underpuff, assisting Keeby over their adventure. Before she leaves, she takes Kirby’s body with her to bury it where he first landed. She paints a decoy body and leaves it at the castle, taking the real one with her. Adeleine had many doodles scattered across the cave as surveillance to be wary of other rebellions, but many were erased upon her banishment, though some harder to find ones are still present. To make up for the lack of this, Dedede creates the Gordo Unit, a reconnaissance and offensive unit lead by Captain Stitch. They are all throughout the cave, with a few going down to Sub Tree to keep an eye on things there, more specifically to see if a new Puff falls. Adeleine is completely unaware of their existence.
  54.
  55.
  56. As Adeleine makes her way to Sub Tree, she discovers in Crystal a paintbrush called the Power Paintbrush. A very powerful magic artifact that imbues the artist with great power, even able to make sentient life from art. Adeleine upon getting to Sub Tree decides that she will protect the next Puff that falls, and sets up many things to be sure they’ll be safe. Such as many doodles scattered throughout, and fluffy clouds to cushion their landing. Adeleine settles down in an abandoned mineshaft at the end of Sub Tree, and begins waiting. As she waits, she begins to get bored and lonely. She decides to use the Power Paintbrush to create two new friends, Drawcia and Paintra. The three get along great at first, with them sharing a love for art and creative activities in general. However, Drawcia slowly begins to loathe the outer world, with it not looking as good as her works of art on her canvas, and thinking it as an abhorrent wasteland of ugliness. She steals the Power Paintbrush and begins turning Sub Tree into a work of art, handicapping all that get in her way by removing their limbs. Adeleine discovers this and attempts to stop the two sisters. The battle is long and hard, but Adeleine barely succeeds at retrieving the brush and sealing the two into canvases. She stores them in her completely altered abode, but the damage has been done, and cannot be reversed despite her best efforts. The denizens of Sub Tree fear and resent Adeleine for this, and she is forced out of the local Sub Tree town into an abandoned mineshaft by the docks. With the only exceptions being Fatty Whale, and a Gordo from the Unit named Gordy, who is meant to keep an eye on Adeleine.
  57.
  58.
  59. Time passes, and the kingdom of Floralia is discovered by the Puffs. Fearful of history repeating itself, they take action on the kingdom and seal it’s denizens with the others in the Great Cave. Among them are the wasp-like Queen of the Insect Clan, and two spider like creatures named Sectonia and Taranza. Taranza has feelings for Sectonia, and before the Puffs struck, he had obtained a golden mirror floating in the sky as a gift for her. Little did he know the effect this would have on her. Sectonia held some resentment towards the Puffs and also Dedede, who she deemed as an unfit ruler of their new home, since the Insect Queen had allowed him to be ruler over her, him having been here before her. However, she mostly kept these thoughts to herself and tried not to let them bother her too much. This changed with the mirror, whose sinister power slowly corrupted Sectonia as she gazed into it day after day. She had delusions of beauty, vanity, power, and eternal life. She saw the power and beauty of the Insect Queen and craved it for herself, felt her undeserving of such grace, given how willingly she gave it up for that fat lard of a penguin, and was willing to go to any means necessary to obtain it. However, opportunity had not presented itself for her quite yet.
  60.
  61. Magolor warps into the cave as well, and wakes up confused. He tries to find Meta Knight wherever he could possibly be, but to no avail. Meta Knight is nowhere to be found, and without Star Dream, is unable to return home. However,Magolor then discovers one of the many pieces that were scattered across Popstar. Seeing that he has chance to return home after all, Magolor begins to try and search for the remaining parts in an attempt to rerebuild it. But Magolor is in a tight situation, as he has no way of tracking the pieces without proper equipment. If he wants to obtain the necessary materials, he’ll need funds. Using whatever he can find lying around, Magolor creates weapons and armor to sell to Dedede’s army and turn a profit.
  62.
  63. Bandanna Dee discovers Magolor’s Shoppe and gets an idea. He goes to Dedede and suggests a new position of Royal Scientist, who could make all forms of weapons and such to prepare for the next Puff. Dedede agrees, and allows people to come and show him what they’ve got. Magolor sees an opportunity in this, as he could have all the materials he needs to track the remaining pieces of Star Dream. However, another group is also seeking this position, the Squeak Squad, and their own smart guy Doc. The Squeak Squad has cleared out the cave of all it’s valuables, and as such, needs a new method of making money. Doc having built many various contraptions, like Daroache’s Airship, impresses Dedede a lot, and it’s looking like he’s a shoo in to get the position. Magolor doesn’t know what he can do, without materials, he can’t build something as impressive as what Doc has made. However, a currently insane spider girl sees this as an opportunity to set her plans into action.
  64.
  65.
  66. Sectonia gets the idea to build a sort of tribute to Floralian culture. It would double as this and a place to rest and relax, a place called Royal Road Resort. (This is also a subtle reference to the Melee Kirby player, RRR.) However, the whole thing would merely be a ploy for her to get closer to the Queen, and slowly drain her life energy to take her over. Upon doing this, she would start a war against Dedede, causing a full scale invasion with the use of the entire Insect Clan. After her takeover, the next Puff to fall would be killed immediately, and with the use of it’s soul, cross the barrier, wish for it to break, and gain control over all of Popstar, taking revenge on the Puffs that banished her here. She goes to the Queen and suggests her plan, which she loves immensely. However, with no one to build it, it is merely only an idea, which is where Magolor comes in.
  67.
  68. Sectonia confronts Magolor, and says that if he will build RRR, she will put a good word in for him with the Queen. With her behind him, the Floralians would wholeheartedly support him, and as a result, Dedede would be put under pressure to choose him over Doc. Magolor agrees, and everything goes according to plan. He becomes the Royal Scientist, and creates several Metal Generals for Sectonia to control as she builds RRR with the Queen. Magolor, knowing who Sectonia is and thinking he has her figured out, puts in measures in the Metal General’s programming that allows him to monitor what they build, as well as a mass override that shuts them all down. Sectonia, however, uses her magic on them to control them when building less...moral things in the resort thus bypassing their programming. (Magolor was going to have more precautions against Sectonia than just this but I never thought them up.)
  69.
  70. Sectonia divulges her plan to Taranza, who does not agree with it at all. He notes how much Sectonia has changed over time and how he misses the old her. Furious with his defiance, Sectonia forces him to cooperate by putting a spell over him, forcing him to do just as she commands, no matter how immoral it may be.
  71.
  72.
  73. Soon, well after the completion of Royal Road Resort, Meta Knight is warped into Crystal. Confused and hoping to find out what happened, he wanders the area and comes to the local town. He receives strange looks from the people around, but brushes them off initially trying to find more information. After some research, Meta Knight learns about the war and how he was the leader of the rebellion, and the recent reappearance of him when dropping the Floralians off, with him being fully equipped in all but a mask. Knowing he can’t be seen like this, Meta Knight retreats, and discards his shoulder pads and removes his cape. He alters his cape into an ornate hooded robe, and returns, trying to figure out just how he’ll get out of here. During this, Meta Knight discovers strange, floating stars in the air, when he interacts with them, they something regarding admin privileges, and saving. He decides to stay away from them, as they give him a bad feeling.
  74.
  75. The Meta-Knights (Though not quite named that yet) are low ranking members of Dedede’s army. They lack skill and are widely looked down upon and ridiculed. One day, they are sent out to Crystal to investigate recent disturbances. Little do they know this is Computer Virus. Meta Knight sees them pass through, and follows them to see what they are up to. The group eventually encounters the virus, and fight it. However, they begin to lose and things look bleak, until Meta Knight swoops and finishes it off easily. The Knights are bewildered at this apparent stranger's strength. Seeing the poor state his crew is in, Meta Knight offers to train them and hone their skills. They immediately accept, and Meta Knight begins to train them. Having dealt with them before, the training goes incredibly smoothly, Meta Knight knowing every flaw, every hindrance each Knight possesses, and getting them out of it. As time goes on, the Knights rise through the ranks and become some of the higher ranking soldiers in the army. The crew adores Meta Knight, following all his orders and wishing only to please him.
  76.
  77. Eventually, after the Knights have risen far up, Meta Knight learns of Magolor’s presence in the Cave as Scientist. Meta Knight wishes to meet him, and with the Meta-Knights’ help, he gets the chance to speak with him. They discover they are both from the same reality and as such, start working together to find all the pieces of Star Dream and their way home. But a complication comes up, when all the pieces of Star Dream in the Cave are found...yet Star Dream is still incomplete. This means only one thing, some of Star Dream’s pieces are on the surface.
  78.
  79. With this coming up, Meta and Magolor must find a way to bypass the barrier without the need of a Puff Soul, as Meta Knight absolutely refuses that and wants to keep any Puff that falls down here alive. Magolor agrees to this, and decides to find an alternative way past the barrier.
  80.
  81. Magolor at first tries to attempt to create some sort of vessel to contain the soul of a puff and another being. He uses an apple from the castle’s trees, planted by Dedede servants after Kirby and Marx died using the apples that were dropped. He uses his magic on it in an attempt to bring it to lie, but despite his incantations, no results are found. He throws the apple outside and decides to figure out a new plan.
  82.
  83. He then decides to use his knowledge on space time travel to find a way to exit the barrier via that. At first, Magolor thinks that attempting to repair the broken Master Crown from Landia and using that could be an option. However, knowing Meta Knight would likely not be very trusting of him even so much as looking at it for a period of time greater than 2.5 seconds, he abandons this idea. Instead, he decides he will attempt to rebuild the Lor Starcutter completely from scratch. He repaired the original after all, surely he can make a new one relatively easily!
  84.
  85. Magolor couldn’t have been more wrong. Replicating Ancient’s tech is much more complicated than he thought, and despite many attempts at getting the Space Time travel to work, he can never seem to get it right. After many failures, Magolor begins to think this is hopeless, and that there truly is no way out without a Puff’s soul. Magolor decides that when a Puff falls down, he will do whatever he can to make the Puff “accidently” kick the bucket, take its soul, and cross the barrier, making his own wish to NOVA to be that the war never happened, so that he and Meta Knight can retrieve all parts of Star Dream with no complications.
  86.
  87. Meta Knight, however, refuses to end a fellow member of his species’ life in order to escape. When a Puff makes its way to Crystal, he will do whatever he can to ensure their safety, and make it so they can live here in peace. Until then though, he shall wait, and train.
  88.
  89. And during all of this, the apple that Magolor threw out did yield the result he desired after all. His magic caused the apple to undergo an accelerated growth that made it grow into a full tree in the span of a day. When it gained consciousness, the tree was a now reborn Marx. Confused in his new form, Marx decides to use it to do some well disguised eavesdropping, and figure out exactly what has happened. He eventually learns what is going on, and seeing a second chance to execute his plan, goes to the area where Kirby originally fell, and bides his time, waiting for another Puff to walk into his grasp.
  90.
  91. Adeleine notices Marx in his new wooden form, but doesn’t recognize him. She inquires as to who he is, and Marx, lying as usual, gives himself the alias Whispy Woods, and manages to get Adeleine off his case. With that out of the way, he waits for a Puff to fall, and begin his plan.
  92.
  93. On the surface, there is a young Puff named Keeby. Keeby isn’t taken very seriously, despite how often they tries to prove their worth. They’re extremely competitive, headstrong, and serious, mostly just to appear tougher than they actually are. Sick of being treated as second banana their whole life, they decide to go to the Great Cave and make it through there alive to prove they are worth something. Thankfully, the recent roundup of the Floralians gave the location up fairly easily for them. They make their way to the cave, and after 9 fucking pages of backstory, the events of the comic begin.
  94.
  95. Before I get into this section, bear in mind I mostly just had basic ideas for the progression of areas past Sub Tree. I was expanding and coming up with stuff as I went, so as we progress, things will fluctuate between pretty detailed and pretty brief. With that out of the way...
  96.
  97. As we’ve seen, Keeby fell on Adeleine’s cloud. Adeleine, seeing Keeby fall through her picture, goes down to greet the puff and escort him. Whispy finally gets his chance to get a Puff’s soul and attacks Keeby. Adeleine rescues them and they go on a trek through Sub Tree filled snarky dialogue from our Brush Brat. We ride a whale, make fun of a disabled Waddle Dee and his caretaker, have a QnA, and meet a refined yet deadly spider named Taranza who tries to kill Keeby. Keeby falls even under-underground and we basically have a filler part that’s just a glorified tutorial. All while torturing our poor Keeby through gifs that took some time to animate but were well worth it. Keeby gets back to the “surface”, and goes to find where Ado went, all while having the cheerful voice of Kirby inside their head. Too fast of a summary? Too bad go read the parts I did make and slaved over.
  98.
  99. With old ground behind us, Keeby would then proceed through Sub Tree, encountering enemies and befriending them all. They would also run into some doodles Adeleine left behind, where she would talk about how she had Taranza running off, and she couldn’t find him. She says she’ll head back to her house, and for Keeby to be careful. Eventually, Keeby makes friends with all of Sub Trees enemies, which makes it so no more random encounters happen, and gives Keeby a Heart Star for the Sub Tree Area. (Yes, that’s why the Mercy Button had a Heart Star on it.) They eventually find Taranza muttering to himself about how he lost to a little girl. He turns around seeing Keeby, and sees this as his second chance.
  100.
  101. Taranza’s fight begins. As the mini boss of Sub Tree, and being confident he can beat this yellow beachball, he wouldn’t be too tough of a fight. He would be unspareable, and you would have to hit him till he was low health. Upon reaching that point, he complains outloud about why all the children in this place are so strong, and flees, as it is very important he does not fall here.
  102.
  103. Eventually Keeby makes it to the town in Sub Tree, greeted by Clarence and Balldle. They attempt to chop down a tree to prevent Keeby from entering the town and trapping them, except they only trapped themselves. Keeby then has to obtain the Fire Ability from a Torch to burn the tree away. Balldle gets angry until Adeleine comes up behind him, making him somehow run away. Clarence has to go after him, and Adeleine escorts you to her home. On the way there, there is a strange tree sprout that sprang up out of nowhere, confusing locals. A butterfly is also seen circling it.
  104.
  105. Upon getting to Adeleine’s home, you find out she lives in an abandoned mine. It’s not the most thrilling of places but she makes do. After doing some activities with Adeleine, and her going on about how she’s glad to finally have someone to hang out with, Keeby asks how they can leave. Adeleine, wanting to keep them safe, tries to beat around the question, but ultimately caves citing that it’s dangerous to continue. And even if she was fine with letting them go, the bell that could summon Fatty Whale to take them to the next area, Crystal, has been gone for a long time. They both go to bed till Keeby gets up to try and investigate.
  106.
  107. They end up finding a strange key hidden in the house. If you go and explore the town a bit, you will find a distorted and creepy house that seems to have been scribbled all over. The house and it’s interior resemble that of The World of Drawcia. Using the key on the door of the house allows you to enter it, and explore its inside. In rooms of the house are hints to what happened with Adeleine before Keeby fell. One room in particular, houses two portraits. One or Drawcia, one of Paintra. In this room is also the bell, which Keeby takes. They proceed to the docks only to be greeted by Adeleine.
  108.
  109. She got up to paint a glass of milk or something and couldn’t find them anywhere. She went outside and was relieved to have found them, but then notices the key in their hand. Adeleine is addled by this, and begins to freak out a bit. She talks about how Keeby now knows her secret, that she prayed they wouldn’t find out, and how they probably think she’s a freak like everyone else in the town. Despite this, she still won’t let them leave, since she still can’t let Dedede go through with his plan.
  110.
  111. Adeleine’s fight starts, and she paints all manner of objects as attacks. During the fight she rambles about how whenever she tries to do the right thing, it always blows up in her face. She vaguely talks about the war, Kirby and Marx, Drawcia and Paintra, etc. But by the end all people want is to do away with her, and leave her all alone. (A kind of subtle jab at HAL’s neglect for her.) This builds up into a full blown tantrum with her jumping down and swing her brush rapidly as she always does at the end of her fights. She gets knocked over and stands on her knees, and starts bawling uncontrollably. (She is still a kid, a snarky and witty one, but still a kid.) Keeby cheers her up though, and she starts to realize the error of her ways. Afterwards, she puts the bell back on and rings it. Fatty Whale comes up, splashes water everywhere and Adeleine and Keeby say their goodbyes, but not before Adeleine teaches them how to summon helpers ala Super Star, and obtaining her Heart Star. As Keeby rides along, you can see the faint shape of a Gordo making its way over the expanse of water.
  112.
  113. We would then cut to a scene with Taranza. He confronts the shadowy figure of Sectonia in a dark room. He hands over a clipboard he was writing on, saying he got the information she wanted. Scetonia looks it over, saying that these seem like the ideal locations to execute her plan. Taranza then says that there is one problem, that a Puff is currently in the Cave. This makes Sectonia furious, saying that it’s far too early for one to be down here. Taranza tries to say he can try to defeat them again, but Sectonia denies his request. She simply asks him to make sure the Puff makes it to Garden alive. Taranza accepts this, and leaves.
  114.
  115. Fatty Whale reaches the shores of Crystal, with Keeby disembarking. He travels along a straight path until reaching a bridge over a waterfall. The bridge however, collapses underneath them, with them falling into the river below. Barely able to keep up with the fast rapids, a dark shadow grabs their hand and pulls them out. The dark shadow remarks on how the bridge clearly looked unstable, and that Keeby should’ve been more careful. After their scolding, the shadow introduces themselves as Meta Knight. He notes that he saw their arrival on Fatty Whale, and distracted the Royal Guard that was patrolling the area. He says that he will offer them guidance throughout their journey to escape the Great Cave, and assist them however he can. He begins to escort them up through to the main gate of the town, only to find it has been locked up tight.
  116.
  117. Turns out Meta Knight’s disciples, the Meta-Knights, were watching the conversation between Meta Knight and Keeby as they passed by overhead. Believing their master to have been manipulated through some, “Puff Mind Control Powers”, they decide to lock up the town gate, break up the key, and split up in an attempt t defeat the puff and make them release their master. They leave a note that may or may not have taken inspiration from Bowser’s Letter in Hotel Mario to taunt Keeby. Meta Knight, annoyed by the situation, attempts to try and alleviate this. He tells Keeby to try and find his disciples, while he attempts to keep the entirety of the Royal Guard away from them as best he can. He will come running to give assistance if yelled for, but he can’t guarantee he’ll make it every time. Meta leaves, and Keeby goes to travel Crystal and recover the pieces of the key.
  118.
  119. As Kirby leaves the area, out from the shadows pop out the Squeak Squad. Seeing that there’s a Puff down here, they see this as an opportunity to get back to the surface and start making a living again. Since they’ve cleared the Cave of all it’s treasure, they’ve ran out of things to do. Doc even missed out on the Royal Scientist Job, so any form of income they could make is basically gone. By getting Keeby’s soul and bringing it to Dedede, they’ll be able to get back on the surface and get back to the good life of treasure hunting.
  120.
  121. The Crystal area would’ve been a sort of “choose your own path” thing. You’d be able to confront the Meta-Knights in any order desired, encountering the Royal Guard along the way, which was comprised of the bosses from Kirby’s Adventure. The Knights would have Kirby do certain tasks. Axe Knight would have you fight Computer Virus, who would make the aesthetic of the battle UI be like that of an old computer. Javelin Knight would have a slippery crystal obstacle course, which you would need to get the help of Rick to beat. I either completely forgot what Mace and Javelin were going to have or never actually came up for what they would do. At one point the Squeak Squad would confront you as a mini boss. During this area, just like in Sub Tree, befriending enough normal enemies would net you the Heart Star for Crystal.
  122.
  123. After all this and Keeby gets the 4 pieces of the Town Gate key, they unlock the door and opens it. Afterwards though, Keeby is surrounded by the Royal Guard, Meta-Knights, and Squeak Squad all at once. They all are bickering about who will get to kill the Puff, before dogpiling on eachother with Keeby in the middle, who is swiftly saved by Meta Knight. Meta Knight then leads Kirby through the Town Gate, leaving the ruckus behind them. The group eventually disperses. The Meta-Knights are freaking out, worried they can’t release they’re master from the Puff’s spell, and run to get a jump on Keeby. The Royal Guard just decides to leave it to the primary army, and the Squeak Squad feel this is too much work, and that the Puff could be more useful to them in other ways.
  124.
  125. Keeby makes they’re way through Town while Meta Knight goes to make sure the Guard won’t interfere further. As Keeby reaches the end of the town, they’re greeted by none other than the Meta-Knights. This is where their battle begins, a four on one brawl that continues for a good while. The battle ends after surviving long enough for Meta Knight to come by and grab the Meta-Knights. He takes them away to scold them and make them train 10x harder today. Meta Knight apologizes, and ask that Keeby visit them for an apology.
  126.
  127. Keeby goes to the Meta-Knights home, and as was promised, they all give a formal apology. Keeby is about to leave, until the Knights suggest they train with them. Meta Knight is skeptical, but ultimately agrees to this. In truth, the Meta-Knights hope to “accidentally” destroy Keeby, them still believing they have control over Meta. However, as the training courses would go on, they would start to grow fond of Keeby and realize that they weren’t so bad after all. Or maybe they just got mind controlled too. This would culminate in a 5v1 mini boss fight against Heavy Lobster. Afterwards, Keeby will have befriended the Meta-Knights, earning their Heart Star. As a second gift, one of the Knights gives Keeby a golden medal as well.
  128.
  129. Before Keeby goes to the next area, he is confronted by Daroach. However, instead of trying to initiate more conflict, Daroach instead tries to strike a deal with Keeby. Depsite cleaning out the cave of all it’s treasure, they’ve been unable to get one set of valuables. Golden medals possessed by multiple people underground. If Keeby gives these medals to Daroach and his gang, they’ll leave them be, and even let them use a special series of chests doc created to store their items. Keeby agrees, and this starts a sort of side quests thing. I wanted to use these to flesh out stuff a bit more and add more content to be enjoyed, but I never really planned much of it out. If you had got all the medal, the Squeak Squad would give you their Heart Star in return.
  130.
  131. As Keeby exits Crystal, they are presented with the dominating fortress of Old Tower. Not too long after entering, the entrance is sealed behind them, and a message from Bandana Dee reverberates throughout the halls. The message states that the Puff has now been sealed off, and that any sightings of them are to result in immediate apprehension. The message is then hijacked by a much more gruff and angry voice, saying that any Gordos are to alert any Waddle Dees if the Puff is spotted.
  132.
  133. This kicks off Old Tower. At one point, this was the most planned out area. But as time went on it turned out to be one of the least planned. The entire tower would be its own stealth mission. You’d be avoiding the eyes of Waddle Dees and Gordos alike, with failure resulting in a battle. These Waddle Dees would not be spareable, and would need to be ran away from if encountered. Taking too long in a battle would result in Bandana coming along and joining the fight. Naturally, he’d be pretty tough.
  134.
  135. At one point you would be surrounded by the whole army, with no way out. However, the Meta-Knights would come out and back you up. After preparing for an all out brawl, something swoops down and carries Keeby through the sky. Upon landing, it turns out to be Coo. He helped you out as per Adeleine’s request awile back, and offers to sell you stuff as well.
  136.
  137. Sometime after this, you’d be confronted by the leader of the Gordo Squad, Captain Stitch. Fed up with how long it’s taking to stick it to you, he’s at his breaking point and is ready to have you on pins and needles. However, his prickly attitude doesn’t sit well with the other Gordos, and he’s a real thorn in their side. You’d have to poke holes in their loyalty in order to get them to rebel against him, resulting in you winning the fight.
  138.
  139. Afterwards, you are about to enter a section of Old Tower that was dedicated for the Floralians. However, the fear of Puffs is still very fresh in their minds, and Keeby cannot simply walk around. That is until Taranza comes down, offering his assistance and a faked apology. Through some “”“Very powerful disguise magic,””” he makes you look like a Floralian. (In reality he just tapes some construction paper to you.) As you explore the section, you’d find plenty of dialogue describing the Floralians’ situation. This includes how they came down here, their distaste for Dedede, their love for the Insect Queen, and Royal Road Resort. Eventually, you exit the Floralian Town, and continue.
  140.
  141. As you went through Old Tower, you’d be having to set off traps and the like to get the Dees off your trail. Some of these are minor inconveniences. Some are deadly. As you went through you’d see the murals and glyphs Marx studied, all till you find your way to Chameleo Arm. After befriending him, he’d offer to slip you by the guards protecting to exit. He cram you in his mouth, goes invisible, sneaks you by, and coughs you up on the other side. He exits, and Keeby is almost home free, until Bandana Dee slams down at the last moment.
  142.
  143. I will be completely honest here, I have no idea what I was going to do for Bandana’s Pacifist Fight. The only thing I was certain of was that the Meta-Knights would help you escape through the minecart area, with Bandana chasing after you. Eventually, you would reach the end, and Magolor sealing the exit to give you a hand. But everything before that? No clue.
  144.
  145. Afterwards, with the door shut off, Bandana decides to concede, and takes the Knights in for interrogation. Meta Knight comes up to you, saying he sent the Knights to aid you. He says he’s going to go to their interrogation to try and attempt to clear things up. Despite what may seem like common sense, he advises to to join him. Keeby takes his offer, and after Meta Knight scolding their trustworthiness, saying it had caused many problems for someone with a similar disposition (Kirby), brings them to Bandana’s House.
  146.
  147. After going in first, Keeby follows behind, with Bandana seeing them. After freaking out and having some relatively polite bickering with Meta Knight, an alert goes through the tower that the “Monthly Training Battle Royale” will be starting soon. At this point Bandana starts freaking out again, citing it was partners week and he was so caught up in this Puff mess he forgot to get one. Meta Knight makes to suggestion to disguise Kirby as a Waddle Dee and take them as a partner. Waddle Dee, now realizing what his plan was, sadly agrees. Meta Knight crafts a quick disguise, and sends them off.
  148.
  149. The Monthly Training Battle Royale is a broadcasted competitive training session that was Dedede’s idea. His flawless logic was that what better way to drum up moral and support than by showing his army beating the shit out of eachother for a grand cake.
  150.
  151. During this, Keeby would be working together with Bandana Dee to in minigames like the ones from Battle Royale. After each match, Bandana Dee would start to divulge his reasons for fighting Keeby, and how he looked up to Kirby a lot. Needless to say, Kirby would be chiming in during this. Among their opponents would be Clarence and Balldle, who have actually been following you since Sub Tree. Their antics would’ve been shown in little bonus comics about them trying to catch up to Keeby, and usually getting involved in some less than pleasant stuff. One of these would be getting dragged into the army to find Keeby, and they manage to steal someone’s spot in the tournament.
  152.
  153. After managing to win the Royale, C&B would end up hijacking an incomplete “Temp Name: Puff Extermination Machine” in a last ditch attempt to kill Kirby. You and Bandna would have to team up to take it down. Afterwards, Bandana would realize that he doesn’t need to hold himself to Kirby all the time, and just to himself, becoming more independent, and more confident.
  154.
  155. Keeby then goes back to Garden, the fourth area, where they meet Magolor. Now, up until Royal Road Resort, I had no clue what to do for the vast majority of Garden. The general premise was this however. Magolor tries to “accidentally” kill Keeby but Sectonia keeps interfering trying to get their soul for herself. All while trying to make sure certain plans involving the Insect Queen go smoothly as well. Using what data he could scrounge from the parts of Star Dream he recovered with Meta Knight, Magolor built stuff like Robobot armor and Core Kabula. At one point, Sectonia would use her magic to take over Core Kabula, and upgraded Kabula that Magolor made, which he would combat with the Por Starcutter. (The failed Lor he had created.) Keeby and Magolor would win, but not before being shot out of the air and sending the Por crashing down. Later, there would be a Robobot segment where they’d face off against a bunch of Metal Generals and other machines, eventually reaching RRR.
  156.
  157. This would be the home stretch, but the primary way out would be blocked off thanks to Sectonia arranging a meeting of the Floralians with the Queen. MAgolor and Keeby would go back to the armor only to find it mysteriously disappeared. They go back inside to find another way through, but end up being flung into a hidden Prison of Beauty in the Resort. Turns out Sectonia had built this area in secret to imprison anyone who came onto her true plans, and used them as practice for her life sapping magic.
  158.
  159. While Magolor and Keeby are down there, Sectonia is talking with the Queen. For a long time, the Queen’s health has been deteriorating, ever since the construction of RRR has been happening. Sectonia has been slowly sapping her life force away, in hopes to take over her body, and use her power to take over the Great Cave and overthrow Dedede. At this final moment, the Queen is finally weak enough, and Sectonia takes over the Queen’s body, gaining her power and beauty in the process. Sectonia goes before the crowd of Floralians, and gives a speech.
  160.
  161. The speech essentially details the lackluster leadership of the Great Cave, how much of it is divided, and led by the unfit rule of Dedede. It also goes into how they were wrongfully put down here, and how they will seek to take vengeance on Puffs by taking Keeby’s soul, and using NOVA to take over the planet. Naturally, some people descent to this, but Sectonia orders the guard to shut capture them, and many others. As unrest and panic start to ensue, Sectonia activates the final step of her plan, opening portals all over the Cave, and sending troops to launch a surprise attack on the populace. The entire Cave is sent into chaos on the unprecedented attack, and everyone is trying to defend from it.
  162.
  163. Magolor and Keeby hear the panic from where they are, and Magolor sees this as his only chance. He attacks Keeby, and initiates a fight. He goes on about why he’s doing this, and why he needs to get out of here (Though not stating directly he’s from another universe). During this, he also tells Keeby that they cannot pass the barrier alone, and are trapped here. However, midway through the fight, he is ambushed and captured by Taranza, followed by some Sectonia controlled Metal Generals. He orders him to be taken to Sectonia, and begins fighting Keeby as well. Like last time, he is unspareable, and is not holding back. Keeby must completely defeat him in order to end the fight. However, he is not dead. Kirby suggests maybe giving him some food to get him back up, saying it doesn’t feel right just leaving him like this for some reason. Keeby does this, making Taranza healthy again.
  164.
  165. The fight knocked some sense into Taranza, and broke him free from Sectonia’s spell. He and Keeby walk along the prison, while he explains exactly what is going on, and how Sectonia must be stopped. However, deep inside, he knows his Sectonia still exists in there, and asks Keeby to help him fight her so that he may try and talk sense into her. They allow this, and Taranza joins as a temporary partner.
  166.
  167. Taranza and Keeby confront Sectonia, who has Magolor held captive, and is berating Taranza for his betrayal. Taranza attempts diplomacy at first, but it is ineffective, forcing him and Keeby to fight. Midway through the battle, Sectonia would absorb energy from Magolor, gaining some of his own unique power in the process, giving her some of his attacks. Eventually though, she would go down, barely able to hold herself up. Taranza goes back to talk sense into her, and after some heartfelt dialogue and a difficult slap to the face, Scetonia fights off the mirror’s influence, and eventually succeeds, fainting afterwards. Taranza is extremely grateful, thanking Keeby for their help before being interrupted by a weak and falling Magolor. Meta Knight and t5he Knights burst through the door, asking what the heck happened, and beginning to apprehend Sectonia. Despite this, they both thank Keeby for what they did, and give them their Heart Stars. Magolor gets up, looks around, meekly apologizes for what he’s done, and walks off. Meta Knight looks skeptical, but decides to shrug it off for the moment, saying that Keeby must proceed through the castle to complete their journey.
  168.
  169. Upon entering the castle, many paintings covered in a soundproof glass cover the walls of the castle, telling the story of what happened prior to Keeby’s arrival, in a sort of “show don’t tell” kind of sense. Keeby eventually meets Meta Knight later in, who says that Keeby is in fact trapped down here, and so long as Dedede reigns, they will be unable to lead a peaceful life down here. Keeby must kill him, or he’ll continue trying to make his plan succeed. Meta Knight gives Keeby a rusted sword, with tinges of red on it, gives his Heart Star, and leaves.
  170.
  171. Keeby continues until greeted by a Robobot Ball crashing through the window. Clarence and Balldle have still been hot on their trail. They stole the Robobot Armor hoping to use it against you but didn’t realize it took on the traits of the pilot, who Balldle forced Clarence to make him. They’ve been rolling around the cave for hours now. In one last ditch attempt, a miniboss fight against them ensues. These two have actually had a bit of an arc together and have basically become less bickery, but as the fight goes on, Balldle starts to realize it wasn’t his lack of limbs making him unhappy, and since resolving issues with Clarence, who was revealed to be his brother, sees he doesn’t need the Puff’s soul anymore. As thanks for making the two closer than ever, they spare you, and you earn their Heart Star.
  172.
  173. Keeby goes to Dedede’s throne room, where Dedede begins taunting and telling them his plan and that Puffs are just a bunch of thoughtless, violent beings that need to have a strong grip around them. His grip. After his speech, he opens a trap door, which leads to a boxing arena like in his old fights. He drops down wearing a mechanized suit of armor, and the fight begins. After his defeat, Dedede is determined to not give up, but is barely able to stand. Keeby attempts to spare them but Dedede is not convinced, saying that they’ll never be able to be anything like Kirby. (Though he doesn’t mention them by name.) However, right before he lays a clobbering on dat dere Keeby (There I said it, there’s your Kirby anime reference), he find his arms tied up by roots, and Whispy emerges from the ground.
  174.
  175. Turns out, Whispy never died from Adeleine. He had one of his apples go into the ground, which eventually grew into a fresh new Whispy. As he’s grown, he’s been following you as he slowly grew. (Remember the sprout in Sub Tree? Imagine instances like that through the whole comic.) And now, with Dedede and you weakened, he can take your soul, absorb Dedede’s straight from his body, and finally initiate his plan once again. This starts the final fight against Whispy. During the fight, you’d eventually free Dedede, who would back you up acting as a partner. At the end, Whispy launches a final attack, which Keeby and Dedede greet with their own group attack ala Return to Dreamland. They break through Whispy’s and finish him off.
  176.
  177. Dedede starts celebrating with Keeby before being embarrassed, but notices Whispy about to attack them with a root as a last resort. He knocks Keeby out of the way and takes the hit, grabbing the root and uprooting Whispy out of the ground, and slamming him against the floor, finishing him off. The hit Dedede took was fatal, and as he starts to fade off, he apologizes to Keeby, and admits he may have been wrong all along. He apologizes to Kirby too (No he isn’t aware he’s a ghost), and explodes.
  178.
  179. Meta Knight comes in, congratulating Keeby for their victory, but noting the sad look on them. Stating that they must be thinking there was another way to do this. Meta Knight says that they maybe could have found it, as he knew they have the potential to do so, and leaves. This ends the Neutral Ending of Underpuff.
  180.
  181. For the True Lab, Keeby goes back to the crash of the Lor from earlier. Magolor is inside repairing it, in one last attempt to get the Space Time Travel functionality to work. While Keeby is inside, the ship takes off, firing a beam that opens a portal, and travelling through it, sending the ship into ANother Dimension. Magolor has gotten it to finally work! In the midst of his celebration, he notices Keeby. Surprised at first, he starts gloating that he finally managed to do it, and he can have them outside the barrier in a jiffy. Consider it an apology for trying to kill them. He opens up a portal, but instead of being a portal outside, it opens up one that brings out a bunch of Sphere Doomers!
  182.
  183. Magolor is panicking trying to shake them off, and asks Keeby to help fight them off. Keeby goes up to the deck and fights the Doomers, scaring them back off into the portal. However, a Grand Doomer comes right back out of it, initiating a fight against it as well. After it flies off, Magolor blasts it with the Lor, finishing it off. Magolor opens another portal, but once again, it doesn’t lead home. Instead, a pink crystal comes out, bursting open, revealing Galacta Knight. He immediately attacks the ship ruthlessly, making Keeby fall back inside it. Galacta follows, and the fight happens inside the ship, with Magolor helping out. After the battle and a lot of collateral damage, Magolor deals the final blow, sending Galacta into a frenzy, crashing him into the primary drive for the Space Time Travel.
  184.
  185. Magolor goes straight to the ship’s computer, and opens one final portal, taking the back to the crash site. They escape the broken down ship, and Magolor is dejected. But now, he knows he can remake it, and says he’ll try again, making sure Keeby gets home. Of course, they’ll have to deal with Dedede first, and Magolor wishes them luck with that and giving his Heart Star before leaving. Keeby follows behind, but before we continue following them, Whisphy pops up, looking at the wrecked ship. Inside though, he sees a yellow glow, and goes to investigate. The scene ends with Whispy’s maniacal laughter before going back to Keeby.
  186.
  187. Keeby goes to fight Dedede again. But right after Dedede crashes into the ring, Adeleine lands right on top of him. Dedede, angry to see her, asks what she’s doing here. She says she’s here to stop him from doing something stupid, along with “All of them”. The room floods with every friend Keeby has made along the way. Adeleine says that during a weird invasion of bugs, they had to run away from Sub Tree on Fatty Whale. And she decided to run after and try to catch up you. As she went along, she met all the people Keeby befriended, and they all followed her to try and convince Dedede to not kill them.
  188.
  189. Dedede gets angry at everyone turning against him, bit after some soft words from just about everyone, especially Adeleine, Dedede starts to see the error of his ways. He apologizes for all of this, and Keeby earns his Heart Star. However, immediately after obtaining it, Whispy pops up again, wrapping his vines around everyone. Turns out he had taken Galacta Knight’s soul from the Lor’s crash site, and now has the power to absorb every single one of Keeby’s friends’ power as well. After a lot of taunting, Whispy absorbs everyone’s souls, regaining his form as Marx. It starts to look like the final fight is about to begin, until Marx crosses the barrier, leaving Keeby trapped and unable to stop him. Marx has a wish to make, so he laughs maniacally and says goodbye.
  190.
  191. Kirby begins to freak out, wondering what the heck they can do to get out and stop Marx. Even trying to interact with a Save Point and load before that happened fails, with the Save Point saying, “Files needed not found”, as everyone has been taken outside the barrier. However, the sae point then tells Keeby to go to Magolor’s Lab for assistance. They follow this, and see a helmet on the table glowing with an orange light. This is the Star Dream control helmet, which Magolor built to try and interact with the computer he made out of the Star Dream Parts he did find. However, it didn’t work since Star Dream didn’t recognize him as an admin. Keeby puts the helmet on, and has their mind transported to a digital void, with the only thing present being a hologram of Star Dream.
  192.
  193.
  194. Star Dream scans Keeby’s mind and figures out they want to leave the Cave. Star Dream can do this activating it’s own Space Time Transport System, however, it was blocked by the previous admin. Normally, one would have to prove their strength as an admin over other stronger beings. However, the cave is empty, so Star Dream decides to simulate its own battles using what “data” it can scrounge up. The first fight would be against Landia, using its DNA from the Master Crown to recreate it. The second one I flip flopped on a bit. Given Star Allies basically connected the Crown to Dark Matter, I considered having Miracle Matter as the second boss since he doesn’t get enough in house love from HAL. Third however, was definitely going to be Morpho Knight. Using the residual energy from Galacta Knight, and combining it with Morpho Knight’s weaker butterfly form, (Remember that butterfly I mentioned circling the sprout?) it gives Morpho Knight his full power. After beating all simulation, Star Dream determines that Keeby is powerful enough to override the Space Time Travel ban, and opens a portal past the barrier in the real world.
  195.
  196. Upon exiting the portal, Kirby is wondering how they’ll be able to catch up to Marx. Kirby wishes he could create his Warpstar, but soon as he says that, it manages to form in air. Surprised but not ungrateful, Keeby hops on and chases after Marx, resulting in a segment where you chase after Marx in a Star Fox like fashion while he tries to get you off his tail. Eventually, he makes it to the location to summon NOVA, and unfortunately, lands a well placed laser on Keeby making them drift through space. Marx summons NOVA, and makes his wish to rule Popstar, sending the comet hurtling towards the planet on a crash course. Marx laughs at Keeby, and goes off to see the fruit of his hard work.
  197.
  198. Kirby tries to encourage Keeby to get up, and to remember all the friends they’ve made, and how they’d want them to save Popstar from destruction and all that good fluffy stuff. Keeby remembers, and using the Heart Stars they gained on their journey, create the Love Love Stick, flying after NOVA. Marx, interrupts them however, causing Keeby to fire at him. The attack seemingly does noting, causing Marx to laugh and begin an air battle with Keeby. The attacks from the Stick seem to be having no effect still, until Marx starts behaving erratically. The Love Love Stick basically, “woke up”, all the souls of Keeby’s friends that Marx, while he could maintain them, was already struggling to keep that many people under rest. Everyone bursts out from Marx, and afterwards, he quickly flies away. Everyone goes to Keeby, making sure they’re all right, before everyone goes to NOVA to try and stop it from the inside.
  199.
  200. One Postar, the planet is using all of it’s defenses to keep NOVA at bay, and succeeding with flying colors. Meanwhile, the inside of NOVA makes for the final area, and as you avoid the internal defenses of NOVA, the enemies from each area give you a hand and making life easier for you. Eventually, Keeby and Co reach the Heart of NOVA.
  201.
  202. By destroying this, NOVA will stop, and Popstar will be saved. However, Marx, slowly regaining his treelike form, greets everyone. Having one last trick up his lack of sleeves, he fuses with the Heart of NOVA, putting it into overdrive, and making the Puffs of Popstar struggle to deal with it. The resulting energy from the fusion forces everyone out of the room. Magolor analyzes the heart with some device, and sees that Marx’s pure hatred is fueling NOVA to an absurd degree. However, by using the Love Love Stick, and jamming it directly into NOVA, will cancel it out, and cause the whole thing to reset.
  203.
  204. This begins the Final Boss of True Pacifist, Heart of Marx OS. The fight would kind of be a combo of Star Dream’s fight and Void Termina’s fight in terms of gameplay. Letting you fly any area on the screen but having full range of angles to come at Marx, (AKA you could circle him). As you fought Marx, you would getting closer and closer to him, avoiding attacks as the phases went on. As the fight went on, all Keeby’s main friends would help, with Adeleine assaulting him with Krackos and other doodles, Bandana and Dedede sending the whole army after them, Meta Knight and the Knights unleashing a Meta Knightmares attack, etc. At one point, Marx would charge a devastating laser attack, only for it to be blocked by Kirby. With Keeby and Kirby’s souls linked, the energy from the Heart Stars was also given to Kirby, allowing the to do minor things in the physical plane. Marx starts unleashing a huge assault, with Kirby blocking everything. However, eventually Kirby gets too tired to block more, and Keeby starts taking a bunch of hits, leaving them barely alive.
  205.
  206. Ready to finish this, Marx charges another laser, only to get cut off with Galacta Knight giving a merciless assault on Marx. Although he gets blasted in the process, Marx is extremely damaged, leading to a final charge. Avoiding numerous turret fire and other attacks, Keeby manages to jam the Love Love Stick directly into the Heart. NOVA resets, ejecting any “foreign matter” out of it. Keeby is unconscious, floating in space, but wakes up to be greeted by the physical ghost of Kirby. Kirby thanks Keeby for saving the world when he couldn’t, and if it wasn’t for them Marx would’ve won. While Kirby would love to keep hanging out, he wasted all his energy blocking Marx’s attacks. As he begins to fade away, Kirby asks Keeby to do a good job for him, and that he’s a real hero now. Kirby’s body dissipates as Keeby desperately tries to fly towards them.
  207.
  208. Afterwards, Marx comes from behind Keeby yelling. He’s furious that Keeby ruined everything, how he was going to have the perfect revenge on this stupid planet and all that angry stuff. But in the middle of his ravings, Dedede grabs him, and hits him full force with his hammer into the depths of space, never to be seen again. Everyone else comes to Keeby, thanking them as well, and telling them to come with them. They take Keeby to NOVA, saying that it’s been asking for a wish, and they all thought it would be best for Keeby to make it. Before this happens however, Dedede comes to Kirby. Aware he’s been a jerk, and that Keeby doesn’t have to do this, he asks that Keeby do him a favor, and wish the war never happened.
  209.
  210. While that would prevent any of these hardships from ever coming to fruition, it would also mean that they all never met. As such, Adeleine says that maybe another solution would be to break the barrier. Even though they are outside it now, someone could get trapped in their, and it’s destruction would also be a sort of moving on from this whole mess. They leave Keeby with the two options, resulting in two different endings.
  211.
  212. The No War Ending is basically the closest to a canon ending. The world carries on as it would’ve, with clips showing the game’s events happening in the TKCD universe. The most noteworthy clips would be Magolor selling weapons to Kirby so that he can get funds to find the other Star Dream parts with Meta. The No Barrier Ending shows everyone carrying on with their lives as they planned. Adeleine goes to finally leave Popstar after being stuck here for so long, but ultimately turns around and comes back. Sectonia is put into jail for her crimes, but Taranza visits her regularly. Meta Knight looks for the other Star Dream pieces with Magolor while the Knights continue to train under him. Bandana Dee still loyally serves Dedede, who basically has to undergo boring talks with the Puffs to compensate for what he’s done and make sure there is peace. He doesn’t look the most enthused. Marx is flying through space bored out of his mind, and with a black eye.
  213.
  214. No matter the ending, Star Dream confronts Keeby, saying it as Admin, can load previous “data” in order to restart the game.
  215.
  216. But what about Genocide? Well, Genocide was never entirely planned out. At most I had Boss Fights planned. The reason for this is I wanted all my cards from Pacifist on the table so I could work within that. However, I will say what was planned here.
  217.
  218. Adeleine from watching through her doodles would realize you aren’t exactly very nice person and has everyone hide in their houses. She goes to her old house and grabs the Power Paintbrush and assaults you with Doodles. Even going as far to put fake Adeleines around the town to throw you off. Eventually, you get to her old house and go to where she’s hiding. She panics, backed up against the corner, before you deal a brutal blow on her, but not before she reawakens Drawcia and Paintra, right after snapping the Power Paintbrush in half.
  219.
  220. Drawcia and Paintra are naturally not too pleased you made Adeleine snap the brush in half, and attack you. Drawcia is the main offensor while Paintra provides support by disrupting you. When Paintra is down she’s down for good, but Drawcia remains, becoming Drawcia Soul. Keeby beats them and continue their slaughter.
  221.
  222. During all these fights, (Especially Adeleine.) Kirby is actively trying to possess Keeby to make them run into attacks. Keeby has to avoid his possessions while maintaining damage on the boss. Kirby starts of very offensive, but as time goes on he realizes just how futile the whole situation is.
  223.
  224. The next geno fight would be against the Meta-Knights, piloting a four man robot called Soul of Heavy Lobster EX DX 2.0, an upgraded robot they made to impress Meta Knight. They lose and blow up in the robot.
  225.
  226. Taranza with all the Floralians in Old Tower confront Kirby next. Not wanting Keeby to go and kill Sectonia, Taranza disobeys Sectonia’s orders and attacks, along with the populace of Floralia. The fight would be a gauntlet of enemies with Taranza pulling no punches, even bringing a Coily Rattler statue in the center of the town to life to back him up. This fails, and they all die.
  227.
  228. Bandana knowing he can’t stand a chance against this Puff, gets the remainder of the army together to finish the Puff Extermination Robot that was being worked on. The Robot would be a fusion of the Dededestroyer and HR-D3. This would be on a circular arena similar to that of Kirby 64 and Robobot’s. Upon destroying it, and Bandana Dee desperately trying to get out of the broken cockpit, it blows up, destroying the base of Old Tower and everyone in it.
  229.
  230. A “secret” boss I had in mind was after Old Tower’s destruction, a lone reporter Waddle Dee from Channel PPP would be in the wreckage. I once saw a picture of him holding a spiked club in official material, and I was just like, “What if he just brutally beat the shit out of you with that.” Overall, just a fun dumb idea I came up with. The news is breaking, along with every bone in your body.
  231.
  232. During Garden, the Insect Queen herself would attempt fighting you to defend what few subjects she had left. Sectonia would try to stop her, but unfortunately, the Queen would be killed. Later, a furious base Sectonia would go all out on you. While her attacks aren’t as strong, they a barely telegraphed and very unyielding. Upon killing her, Magolor would come from behind you.
  233.
  234. Holding a now barely repaired Master Crown, Magolor puts it on his head, becoming the old Beta Crowned Magolor that makes its rounds. He would have a large focus on Pyrokinesis since the other powers would not be at his disposal as powerfully, due to the rushed job on the crown. Upon being defeated, he would turn into the Beta Magolor Soul as well, again, with a large focus on Pyrokinesis. Killing this however, finishes Magolor off for good.
  235.
  236. I don’t think I ever figured out how or when Whispy dies, but he dies.
  237.
  238. Meta Knight, is probably this the hardest situation of all. Given how often he’s lost to Kirby over the years, going up against a similar Puff with actual evil intent required him to train relentlessly. Due to being a former admin recognized by Star Dream, Meta Knight remembers saves and loads. He used those to train longer and harder than ever before. In addition, in his research with Magolor on Star Dream, he discovered the requirements to activate the Space Time Travel. If he allows Keeby to kill Dedede after all these other fights, he is worried that will be enough to activate it, so he must stop Keeby from doing that, and going into the world without atoning for their crimes.
  239.
  240. Meta Knight would learn your moves with every death Keeby would experience. If this was game, his AI would memorize how you fight and anticipate your moves. In order to beat Meta Knight, you’d have to be better than Meta Knight. At one point, he’d unleash a giant, never ending Mach Tornado that surrounds the fight, dealing constant damage in and out of battle. As each battle went on though, you’d gain a tolerance to it, and the damage would be less and less frequent. However, despite all these advantages, Keeby has one themself. Upon breaking into Kirby’s room, they obtain the Bloodstained Blade, and upon copying, gain the Ultra Sword ability, thanks to all the power they’ve gained over their adventure. It would behave like sword, but certain attacks and animations increase the size of your blade, making Meta Knight’s fight not completely impossible.
  241.
  242. Byt the end of Meta Knight’s final attack however, he gets a clean hit on you, knocking Keeby down to 1 HP. He walks up to finish the job once more, and reminds you no matter how many times they fight, he will come out victorious, But inhale just before the blade reaches you makes you eat Meta Knight’s sword, gaining the Master ability. Meta Knight attempts to beat you without his blade, but despite your low health you persist. Eventually, you knock Meta to the ground, jumping on top of him and brutally stabbing him multiple times. Eventually, he lays lifeless, the Master has been overthrown.
  243.
  244. Dedede is cowering behind his chair, trying to act cocky, but a few clean cuts shut him up real quick for good.
  245.
  246. Kirby, having been gaining power himself from your Genocide, confronts you himself in absolute physical form. Disgusted and saddened by what you’ve done, he won’t let you leave everything like this. Kirby, being brought back to life, is the more powerful Puff overall, and usurps admin status from you, having Star Dream delete your save, making a new one. You’re only getting out of here one way, and it’s Kirby’s way. This would naturally affect his end speech in Pacifist but I never figured out how.
  247.
  248. And there it is. The entire plot summary of Underpuff. Over 13000 words, and 23 pages. If you actually read to the end of this, I’m glad you were so invested in what this could have been, and I hope I wouldn’t have disappointed. I’m sure I left some stuff out on accident or glazed over certain things really hard, (Typing this much shit REALLY burns you out.) so if you have any questions, I’ll answer them in detail best I can.
  249.
  250. Also, if you want to make your own Kirby AU, while it should be common sense I feel the need to say this, please don’t copy my ideas. I don’t think they’re all fantastic, but I’d still like them to remain my own. With this in mind, if any of you all see any AUs blatantly copying my shit, alert me. Be sure you’re sure they’re just outright copying though. I don’t wanna tear someone a new one for having just one or two ideas that were similar to mine.
  251.
  252. But, that’s it then. Thank you all for sticking around, and supporting me this whole way. Even though it was never finished, this was a trip I will not soon forget.
  253.
  254.
  255. Thank you all for everything,
  256. Pika
