  1. I do not, I'm a filthy pirate. I have a laptop I haul to irl games if I need to consult a rulebook for a game I don't have, so expect me to have pdf copies of whatever's needed
  2.
  3. Once a group's been gathered, I'd like it if we could chat about the game and potential characters irl, maybe make character creation part of the first session or the irl group meetup or something. I kind of don't like making characters in a vacuum to be honest

  10. No time/date info yet, still trying to gather a few other people. Luckily, I do know other tabletop players in town, it's just needing to build a new group from pieces of the old, plus a bunch of new. Feel free to forward your pal my email, I'd like to talk to him as well.
  11.
  12. Incidentally, do you have any 4e books? If not that's fine, of course, but knowing what books are available between everyone is useful.

  18. Neat. Well, I do happen to know a potential player in the Spokane area; I've played with him in the past and he's pretty decent. We used to play Monsters and Other Childish Things, a Magical Girl irc game, and some other miscellaneous campaigns. I'll see if he's up for gaming and forward him your email if he is, provided you don't mind
  19.
  20. Beyond that, I await your word on a time and a date to get a meet and greet together, should we manage to gather enough interested players. Let me know if there's anything further I can do to help get things rolling!

  27. Yep, this is me alright, the guy who was stupid enough to post his email address on 4chan for the sake of finding players. I must be mad.
  28.
  29. Or just into IRL games. Really, it's my favorite way to play.
  30.
  31. As for your inquiries:
  32.
  33. A: Yes, that's all very standard stuff. Don't want to go to someone's house the first time, a place like Merlyn's is good (and I've been there before of course) and a meet and greet between as many players as possible is definitely important. You're right on the ball when it comes to that stuff.
  34.
  35. B: "What the fuck is a daily power?" is a perfectly fine level, though I can work with "what the fuck is a d20?" I've DM'd plenty, but not much 4e, though I've familiarlzed myself with it. Now whether I'm a good DM? Well that's the dice roll, isn't it? I could be awful, or I could be the best. Most likely neither.
  36.
  37. The game isn't really that difficult, and most classes work similarly enough to not be a big deal. The game definitely uses a grid, pretty much requires it in fact, but gameplay is similar enough to other editions that the big changes will only really be a problem to one who's super used to other editions.
  38.
  39. Simple version, it's still run with a d20 to resolve conflict. At level one you get two "At-will" powers that you can use at any time and generally do stuff, one "encounter" power that you can spam every battle, and one "daily" power that's basically just your big gun. I'll probably provide a number of "themes" that generally give a second encounter power, and make your characters even more different from each other.
  40.
  41. Healing surges are a thing. So, instead of just having a cleric heal you all, each player gets a number of these surges, and you can use them during short rests between encounters to heal 25% of your hp. Also you get your entire CON score to your hp total at level one, along with an amount based on class. So that's different.
  42.
  43. The game does play differently than other editions, but there ARE utlity abilities, along with skills, and many useful spells from other editions
  44. have become rituals that pretty much anybody can cast. The game, especially as it went on, does emphasize that not all things are resolved in combat, combat should only be for actually important events, and player freedom still exists, just like it would have if your fighter could only attack, instead of now getting a suite of abilities.
  45.
  46. C: Weekends sounds good, and of course it depends on when the majority, when one exists, feels most comfortable. Hopefully my job won't move me to the whole weekend, making it less possible, but then even so evenings might work.
  47.
  48. Nice to meet you, and have a good night. And nope, no spam.

  54. Helo,
  55.
  56. You or someone who really wants you to get spammed by faggots from a traditional gaming board left your email in a gamefinder thread on /tg/ regarding interest in GMing some 4e d&d games. As a insidious and parasitic player lifeform who is always willing to sap the creative juices from a GM by firmly affixing myself to their jugular, I figured I'd shoot you an email. Also, irl games are fun and I don't get the chance to partake in them too often
  57.
  58. A few inquiries:
  59.
  60. A: I'm slightly uncomfortable with the idea of meeting potential serial killers in the privacy of their own sound-proofed abodes, would we be playing in public, and if so, where? Merlyn's is a game store local to the area and from what I understand has a free play area, to offer one suggestion
  61.
  62. A2: On a somewhat related note, I think a meet 'n greet may be in order, just to kinda feel eachother out as people before we deign to spend the better part of an afternoon or evening playing pretend wizards. Whether it's getting a bite to eat at a McDonalds or exchanging hellos at the aforementioned Merlyn's gamestore, whatever you're comfortable with or have in mind would be a nice way to break the ice before game day, I think
  63.
  64. B: I've not actually played 4e d&d before; what level of system experience do you want out of your players?
  65.
  66. C: What days and times were you thinking to run on? My own availability is only consistent on the weekend
  67.
  68. Looking forward to your reply, also pls no signing me up for hundreds of gay porn websites
  69.
