  1. How to MIDI when you're tone-deaf; by a tone-deaf moron
  2.
  3. Tools needed:
  4.
  5. -A DAW (preferably, FL Studio)
  6. -A tune telling VST (like GTune by GVST)
  7. -A BPM Analyzing Tool (like BPM Analyzer by MixMeister)
  8. -A song and its stems
  9.
  10. Step 1. Find a song you like.
  11. Step 1.1 Find a good, preferably legal, download of it. Choose FLACs and WAVs over shitty 128kbps MP3s.
  12.
  13. Note: Some producers might give out the stems for their songs, like how Hachiya Nanashi gives out the vocal tracks for Jitterbug in the off-vocal's download. This is unusual, so don't expect every producer to do this.
  14.
  15. Step 2. Spleeter your file.
  16. You can use Spleeter by Deezer (https://github.com/deezer/spleeter) or, more conveniently, an online version of it (https://splitter.ai/).
  17. Step 2.1. Choose 2 or 5 stems, whichever gives you the best vocal output.
  18.
  19. Step 3. Get your song's BPM. If you can't find it via official sources, use a BPM tool to give it to you.
  20.
  21. Step 4. Import your output into your DAW of choice. I use FL Studio.
  22. Step 4.1. Assign it to a mixer track. Now, load your tune telling VST in the same track. As the audio plays, it should tell you the notes.
  23.
  24. Step 5. Create a new pattern (or equivalent), and repeat 4.1 in another track.
  25. Note: FL Studio can automatically find your song's key for you as long as there are enough notes. On "Piano Roll Options", turn on "Helpers" > "Scale Highlighting" > "Automatic". I don't know if other DAWs have this feature. This also helps when making harmonies.
  26.
  27. Step 6. Don't forget to set your BPM! Your workspace should look a bit like this: https://i.imgur.com/dGVLtZn.png . Can you see how the pitch on my midi track matches the audio's? Also, please note that this is the most comfortable way of MIDI'ing to me! You might find another organization that's better for you.
  28.
  29. Step 7. After you're done, export your MIDI and import it in your favourite editor. You can now type lyrics and fix any timing issues! Have fun with your MIDI!

  31. **DIVA Songs**
  32.
  33. If your song is in Project Diva, open its .ogg on audacity. Rip the vocal tracks from it.
  34. Usually, you can find its BPM in pv_db or, often more accurately, in the dsc files.
