They see some actions as worse and unconscionable based on who does them, and others as unfortunate and wrongly sensationalized when others do them. Can lead to excessively punitive attitudes for the former and a desire to make it disappear for the other.

You see it even in their response. They describe one action with more rancor and judgement while the other is a passive voiced 'unfortunate occurence'
