  13. Abstract:
  14. BastilleBSD - Realtime Container Management
  15.
  16. Bastille automates deployment and management of containers using a container technology old enough to buy you a drink! This year marks the 21st year of Jails. FreeBSD introduced containers in April 1999, pre-dating every other container technology available.
  17.
  18. We've taken automation concepts learned from leading config management contenders and combined them with the ORIGINAL container technology. Plus based it on code that has no requirements of packages, so therefore, small and efficient and will run on any FreeBSD install without additional effort.
  19.
  20. Along with the latest on github, Bastille is in the ports tree and as a package on FreeBSD. Imagine, a reliable container technology that has had two decades to work out bugs. Talk about production ready!
  21.
  22. Bastille has multiple options for container networking. Create VNET for your jails, put them directly onto your network with each jail having its own IP address, or use our custom loopback adapter to allow you to have your own private subnet for all your jails.
  23.
  24. Bastille we believe will allow you to be as flexible as needed, yet still, again, based on the original container technology that is tried and true.
  25.
  26. Audience:
  27. Devops, Admins, anyone managing containers
  28.
  29. Audience level:
  30. Intermediate
  31.
  32. Main Ideas from Presentation:
  33. How to manage containers simply without heavy prerequisites and complicated systems.
  34.
  35. Prerequisite knowledge for this presentation
  36. Understand what containers are, and why they are used. some experience with docker or managing some type of containers is helpful, but not necessary. Some *NIX/Linux/BSD familiarity is also helpful, but again, not necessary.
