  4. Deen-...
  5. Valbar- Excuse me, do I recognize you?
  6. Deen-...
  7. Valbar- Hello?
  8. Deen- Sorry, I think you've got the wrong person. Move along.
  9. Valbar- Hey, hold it! I know you! You're Deen, the successor of the Brave Sword! Your feats were legendary within the knights of Zofia!
  10. Deen- Well, I didn't ask them to be. If you're done talking, I'll be on my way now.
  11. Valbar- Heesh, what crawled up his armor?
  12.
  13. B
  14. Valbar- Deen.
  15. Deen-... Whaddya want now?
  16. Valbar- Why did you quit?
  17. Deen- Give me one good reason why I should answer to you.
  18. Valbar- The squad you led was assigned to protect my village from pirates not long after you doffed the mantle of knighthood. While they were on patrol, Barth and his pirates caught them and launched a raid on my village. My wife and children were slaughtered. If you were there, you could have taken them on singlehandedly. I'm not holding anything against you, but I feel like at the very least you owe me answers.
  19. Deen- So all I have to do is tell you why, and you'll get off of my case? Alright. While I was on duty, my fiance's manor was attacked by the Duma Faithful and she died. Is that all?
  20. Valbar- You lost your fiance?...
  21. Deen- Now we're even. I have nothing else to say to you. Good day.
  22. Valbar- Hey, wait- bah, it's best to just leave him be...

  25. Deen- Valbar.
  26. Valbar- Oh, hey Deen. What can I do for you?
  27. Deen- No. Shut up. Listen. We're not even yet. You lost your wife and your children. I still owe you the full story.
  28. Valbar- You don't have to tell me if you don't want to.
  29. Deen- Trust me, if I didn't want to tell you, I wouldn't tell you.
  30. Valbar- Fair enough.
  31. Deen- My fiance's manor was attacked by the Duma Faithful while I was in battle. I've told you that much. But what I haven't told you is that I left the battlefield to try and save her. We were only about a day's distance from the estate on horseback, so I mounted one of our finest steed's and rode through day and night. By sunrise the next morning, I could see the manor over the horizon, ablaze and in ruin. I wasn't willing to accept that she was dead. She was a resilient one, and she would cling to life for all that was holy because she believed in me. When I arrived at the manor, I met face to face with Jedah, the high priest of the Duma Faithful. He laughed at me. He told me I was too late. He told me that my fiance was beyond saving. I wouldn't believe it. He began to act eerily kind, saying that he would lead me to her. He guided me to her bed chambers, and what I saw I almost couldn't comprehend. I knew what had happened, but I didn't want to know. There in my fiance's bed was my fiance. A husk of her former self. A witch. Her soul sacrificed to Duma. I couldn't bear to look at her. In those final moments, my body acted on its own accord, knowing what was right. I drew the Brave Sword and I plunged it through her heart. I held her close to me as what little remained of her spirit left her, and she ran her soft hand across my face, tears in her eyes. I'll never forget her last words. 'Deen... I always knew you'd come...'
  32. Valbar: I'm speechless.
  33. Deen: Afterwards, I looked that Jedah rat in the eye and swore on my life that I would have my revenge. I drew my blade from my lovers chest and struck at him one blow after another. Not a single blow damaged him. Then, in retaliation, Jedah attacked, drawing a blade and taking my eye. He could have killed me, but he didn't. He knew that death would only give me relief. I hated him for it. And I've been searching for him for so long. Luckily, with the path we're on, it won't be much longer until I get to deal him justice.
  34. Valbar: Having to kill your fiance to end her suffering... I'd never be able to do something like that, even if it would put her in a better place. I guess maybe I'm just selfish for that, but you...
  35. Deen: Truth be told, if I had been thinking, I probably wouldn't have done it. I acted on impulse. I can't say I regret it, but I understand where you're coming from.
  36. Valbar: I'm sorry for pushing you about this. It must be difficult for you.
  37. Deen: Don't worry about it. The past is in the past. I've learned to let go and move on. Once I kill Jedah, I can forget this life and start anew.
  38. Valbar: Well said. Luckily for me, once I avenged my family by killing Barth, I was able to pack up and join Celica's army. It feels so long since then. Maybe once you get your justice, you can join Celica's army and renew your status as a knight.
  39. Deen- That's not going to happen. Knighthood is in my past. After we beat Jedah, I doubt you'll ever see me again. I have nothing against you, but I just need to start again, completely new.
  40. Valbar: Well, I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do. In the meantime, let's be friends.
  41. Deen-... Yes. I'd like that.
  42. Valbar- Perfect! After this battle, let's hit the tavern. The first round is on me.
  43. Deen- Here here.
