  5. This guide is designed to provide users a starting point with editing WEBM files to add “Exciting” captions and/or Game Over & Loading screen edits based on popular video game franchises.

  62. (I presume this is already known but for those that are super new, here you go.)

  64. Most the of the usual boorus and R34 sites is the best place to start. Using Harley Quinn as an example, in the search box, type in

  69. And search. On some sites, you can even include other tags such as “sound” “bbc” “alien” or “dark-skinned_male” but with others you can only search by Characters/Franchise/Artist and perhaps Animated or Sound.

  72. NOTE: Not all content is uploaded to all sites. As these places are similar to Wikipedia in that they are updated by users, so if individuals don’t upload them, they won’t appear there. This can result in not only missing content but uploader bias. (For example, some users may upload not upload the blacked/interracial variants of some animations.) Missing or incorrect tagging is also an issue.

  74. Once you find artists that you like, try to keep an eye on their releases directly, which can typically be done by following their official websites, Twitter, Tumblr, Subscribestar, Patreon or Redgifs gallery.

  176. This process will be necessary as most video editors natively work with MP4 files but not WebMs.
  177. *MP4 files are generally higher quality than WebM and will have larger file sizes.

  182. >On the Preset Pull-Down Menu, highlight “Web” then choose one of the following:

  215. >On the Preset Pull-Down Menu, choose “Very Fast 1080p30” or “Very Fast 720p30”

  232. Now, you have two easy ways to compress.
  233. >Constant Quality Method
  234. >Drag the Cursor Left or Right to set a CQ Value
  235. >The higher the number, the greater the compression (and smaller the file)
  236. You may need to move it pretty far to the left to compress larger files under 4MB for 4chan. Don’t be afraid if you’re in the 50s or higher.

  253. Strategy for Creating and Editing Animation

  260. >Import the video file in Video Editor
  261. >Add bottom prompts/loading bars/various text from the game (layer it on top of Animation)

  265. NOTE: If you’re doing a “Game Over” animation, don’t forget to check the source material to see what details you need. But don’t sweat it if you can’t get ALL the details or need to cheat a little. As long as you’re close, the intent will shine through.

  267. NOTE: You might need to convert the footage before and after (I don't know which video editors natively work with WEBM so you might need to convert it to MP4 with handbrake).

  269. If it ever seems overwhelming, relax, you don't have a teacher that's going to penalize you for not turning it in by midnight. And don't forget, this is a lot easier than than what the animators go through, who not only have to animate by hand but often create and rig their own models.

  271. There's even LESS to do if you just want to create text captions, and if that's the case, you can start at www.kapwing.com . It's a free online tool that's super simple. The only problem is your file will come out with a very noticeable watermark. It can be removed if you sign in with Google or Facebook. Not any standard email, but only those two. There might be a better option but I'm not aware of it. Will update if so. If you're new to all video editing, this might be a good place to start, actually.
