  1. Combo Map KZ Tournament (Name?)
  2. Is it possible to splice maps together? Keep the original layout of the maps but make 1 spawn point with openings to every map. That way a player can choose their routes and which map to do first. So, let’s say you create a map pool of 8-10 maps, splice ALL maps together (keeping credit to the creators of course) but have 1 single spawn point. Idea: How kz_synergy how there are doorways blocked off to easy/medium/hard/death depending on which version of the map you on. Have a single spawn point with all the doors open to the different maps. At the end of each map, teleport back to the spawn so they can go through the next doorway. Alternate Idea: Kz_module set up with a center spawn point and the maps surrounding you. Create a teleport back to the center of the map so the next map can be started. You could also add other game elements (i.e. surfing) to return back to the beginning of the map to add another element of game play.
  3. Alternate idea: Just string the maps up consecutively. Not as appealing as this will limit the routes available and order in which to complete the maps

  5. Would it create FPS problems due to map size?
  6. Obviously, the map file would be massive since its multiple maps so maybe limit the map pool to only a few?? Can servers even have maps this big? The map will have to be created and released early so the competitors will have a chance to practice their fastest runs.
  7. This could create suspense/hype for map releases for a tournament or a vote can be made by the community.
  8. This could also inspire mappers to string maps together to submit for future tournaments – maybe create an incentive if their map is chosen that some of the earnings from the stream will go to them- see point below about stream

  11. People seem to enjoy the tournaments already put on (more is better?)
  12. New to the scene (hopefully creating some excitement)
  13. Hopefully bring in more people because I don’t want to believe KZ is dying.
  14. Who knows… if we can create enough tournaments, maybe we can even increase KZ population/viewership?
  15. This can create more tournaments available to watch/stream so whoever would stream this can create revenue off of this.
  16. More viewers with hopefully more donations can lead to higher prizes which can hopefully lead to more incentive to win.
  17. More people wanting to win leading to more players playing.
  18. Create simultaneous differing routes, creating more suspense on who will finish the run of maps first since they most likely won’t take the same exact route.

  23. ALLOW CP/TP but with penalty
  24. Penalty will be based off the tier of the map (less penalty for harder tier maps)
  25. Time subtraction will be made if maps are Pro-ran
  26. Why do this? Creates new strategy
  27. So many KZ tournaments you see people avoiding skips because obviously it can make or break a run. I feel it would be interesting to see if people will go for the skip if it WON’T make or break the run, plus by adding differing penalties for different tiers this will allow players to strategize if going for the skip saves ENOUGH time in order to set a CP.
  28. I believe this will increase the likelihood that PRO’s/high tier players will grind out the harder maps.
  29. I’m hoping this will lead to faster times on harder maps due to the interest of winning tournaments.
  30. I feel this will bring MORE people into the high-ranking scene/tournament setting due to the ability to TP. Yes, this will decrease the difficulty, but it makes it MORE obtainable to the lower tier players which I think will increase popularity. There could even be lower rank tournaments with like T1 to T3-4 instead of like T1 to T5-6 for the Pro players.

  48. What am I looking for?
  49. Nothing other than recognition for the idea if it takes off.
  50. I truly just want to advance the KZ scene and spark more interest.
  51. I’m even interested in donating some money for the first few tournaments to increase prizes/incentives to whoever wants to put in work to stream this (maybe $50-100 per tournament depending on how I am doing financially at the time)
  52. I am not someone who is good with technology nor have the time to stream any of this due to work/school.
  53. I need someone with a voice in the scene to help with the development with the idea.
  54. Possible Problems
  55. IF it is possible to splice the maps together, lets say someone gets a WR on a single map within that splice of maps, how can you keep track of that?
  56. The run distance from start timer to beginning jump would most likely be different due to spawn entries being different.
  57. Do you keep track of TOTAL time for the entire series of maps or time one, subtract/add penalties and then total all the maps up at the end?
