- Birds sing their songs of love as they trapeze and traverse amongst the branches. Sunlight navigates between the leaves, imprinting starry skies onto the ground and onto her. She looks at me with that familiar smile and asks "so, what did you make?"
- She lies on her side, letting her waist and hips break the uniformity of the horizon while her arm that rests upon them tries to re-establish it. As I remove the basket's bounty, she pushes herself up upon her thighs and removes her shoes. The rustling of pantyhose on skirt accompanies the clinking of glasses on wine bottle.
- "This must be a special occasion if you brought out the wine," she says before swallowing a thimble-full of red to awaken her palate.
- Her honeyed voice fills the spring air with tales of her travels and adventures, of her studies and lessons, of her hopes and dreams, told between sandwich chews. I bring out two pink apples and she grabs one just as I set it on the picnic cloth.
- "You know, I'm more of a 'fancy cakes and pastries' type of girl," she says as she takes a bite of the Pink Lady. "I'll make an exception this time since the sandwiches were so good though."
- She brings the apple to my mouth and I take a bite on top of hers. "How is it" she whispers.
- "You taste good," I tell her. She blushes and grabs my collar to pull me in for a proper kiss. "Time for dessert," she says as I fall on top of her.
