Every little kid has an innate sense of justice. Every child has an innate sense of fairness that mostly leans towards them. The fairness-to-them-instinct. Very few of us have evolved enough to go "let's make sure everyone got something here." There's definately a sense of "they got a balloon, that kid got a balloon, this other kid got a balloon, I better have a balloon coming.
