- I've always been an unlucky person. You name it, it's happened to me. Broken shoe-laces, stubbed toes, I've lost my keys and had my bikes stolen more times than I can count. Whenever it snows it snows the hardest here. Whenever it rains my basement always floods. I've had Herdier chase me, Tailow poop on me, and Purloin always love walking with me. I must be some sort of a human bad luck Magnemite, I swear to Arceus.
- And the funny thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I can actually remember the time where this all began. Well, how could I ever forget.
- This curse of mine started when I was much younger. Five or six maybe. It happened when a horrible typhoon hit the area. Guess who was stupid enough to ignore the warnings and stay out playing. Yep, yours truly. I'll never forget how hard the winds blew that night. It almost carried little me away into the sky! The rain hit me like a shower of needles. I was stumbling around and wailing so loud my throat hurt. Everything was so black and tumultious I had no idea where I was or where I was going. Lightning broke the sky in two. I honestly thought I was going to die.
- When a great evergreen was knocked over by the wind, and crashed down right in front of me, I gave up. I fell to the ground and cried. Accepted my fate, I guess. I'd never been that scared before or since. I doubt I could have moved even if I wanted to.
- So I waited for the wind to carry me away, for lightning to strike me, or for another tree to come down and crush me. But the next thing that touched me was gentle and warm. I almost didn't know what it was at first, but then I realized that something was licking my face. I looked up and saw a Pokemon there.
- Its fur was slick and wet in the rain, but in this black night it was vibrant. I was captivated. With sharp, red eyes it looked down at me, and I was scared at first. But as we gazed at each other, I became a little less scared. It didnt sink its claws or fangs into me, and its eyes almost seemed soft. It was like no monster.
- Then the white canine-like Pokemon lay down beside me. Hesitantly, I moved a little closer to it. I dont know why, but I felt secure with it beside me. It lay with me for a little while, and I grabbed onto the Pokemon, burrying my face into it's white fur. I gripped onto it as tight as my little hands could. With my eyes squeezed shut I prayed for the night to end.
- After a little while, the Pokemon started to move. My fear came rushing back; I didn't want it to leave. But while the Pokemon stood up, it did not go away. It licked my forehead and nudged me with its nose. Somehow I understood; It wanted me to walk with it. Still gripping its soaked fur, we walked together.
- Afterwards my memory is a bit of a haze. I don't know how long we walked for. I'd simply kept my eyes on my feet and watched them move, one in front of the other over and over. I remember the feeling of the Pokemon's soft fur clenched in my fists as we walked. I think it was that alone that kept me moving. Honestly, if that Pokemon hadn't come... I think I would have died that night.
- Then we reached a light. When I looked up, I saw a storm shelter: a safe haven. By then the lightning and thunder silenced, and the wind calmed down just a little. The rain poured on relentlessly and I felt soaked to the bone.
- The Pokemon had moved away from me before I'd even noticed. I looked around for it, and caught a glimpse of it disappearing into the dark stormy night behind me. I wanted to call out for it, run back after it, or thank it... but I'd grown so weak that I collapsed.
- I didn't discover until much later that my savoir was a Pokemon known as Absol. In books they're written down as "Disaster Pokemon" Apparently they're bad luck. I wonder if it was the one who summoned the storm that night. But, if so, then why did it help me? Maybe some of its bad luck had rubbed off on me and that's why I am the way I am...
- Who knows. But I find a small part of me wishing that I could meet that Absol again to give it a proper thank you.
- With my luck, I don't think that'd be too bad.
