  1. ▶ CHARACTER
  2. NAME: Lucifer
  3. CANON: Granblue Fantasy
  4. CANON POINT: Ending of 000
  5. AGE: Over 2000
  6. BACKGROUND: Before What makes the sky blue
  7.
  8. More than 2000 years in the past, Lucifer was created by the Astral researcher, Lucilius. Lucifer was assigned the role of Supreme Primarch, tasked with overseeing the evolution of the Sky Realm. Considered a masterpiece, the six-winged Lucifer was marked as perfect by his maker. His role placed him above all others of his kind, and he supervised the other Primarchs as part of it. Lucilius also tasked him to create a Primarch of unknown purpose, the product of which was be Sandalphon.
  9.
  10. Lucifer enjoyed spending time with Sandalphon, to the point that his favouritism was well known. Sandalphon asked many times about his purpose, so much that even Lucifer went to Lucilius to ask about it. Lucifer discovered Sandalphon, the being he had created, was made to be a spare of Lucifer's, in case anything happened to him. Sandalphon, learning this, falls into self doubt.
  11.
  12. Some time after, the fallen angels were triggered into rebellion against the Astrals, and Sandalphon fought alongside them. Lucifer was able to stop this rebellion, and while many died in the conflict, he sealed Sandalphon among others in a tower known as Pandemonium. Later, Lucilius revealed that he sowed the seeds of this rebellion himself, in order to harvest the cores of fallen primals for his pet project: Avatar, a collection of countless tormented primal cores. With this creation, Lucilius intended to lash out against their world's god and bring the Sky Realm to ruin. Though Lucifer implored Lucilius to reconsider, the Astral refused to abandon his course, and so Lucifer ended his creator's life to save the world he was made to protect. Afterward, he took it upon himself to seal away the product of Lucilius' research, his legacy.

  14. What makes the sky blue
  15.
  16. The seal on Pandemonium -the jail for the fallen angels- opened up slightly when an overwhelming roar tore through the skies, around two thousand years later. This allowed the fifth primarch, Sandalphon, to escape. He went around the Sky Realm, attacking the Primarchs overseeing the four tetra-elements, causing the cataclysms, by making an imbalance in the elemental energies of the world. Joining forces with the protagonist, the Singularity, these Primarchs as well as other Primals got together to stop Sandalphon's rampage. Though he seemed defeated, Sandalphon pushed the Singularity off the edge of the island on which they stood, sending them plummeting through the sky. This forced Lucifer to intervene, the first time he shows up even after being mentioned, and put an end to the struggle at last. Lucifer learned then of Sandalphon's motivations, the reason why he started the Cataclysm, and held himself equally responsible. He absorbed Sandalphon into his core, and gave Lyria one of his feathers.

  18. What makes the sky blue II: Paradise Lost
  19.
  20. A year after the Cataclysm, Lucifer was revealed to have place Sandalphon in a Seraphic Cradle, some sort of a cocoon, in which he existed in a closed little world completely alone. While it was a more comfortable place in which to be confined, it was also proof that the two Primarchs still didn't understand each other. Lucifer continued to act as a safeguard against Lucilius' legacy, while keeping watch over his fellow Primarch. But this divide of attention made him vulnerable, and an Astral named Beezelbub ambushed Lucifer, wielding a weapon from the Otherworld which could kill immortal beings. This weapon was the only means by which any Primal being could be killed, and unable to protect himself without harm to Sandalphon, Lucifer let himself be killed. He was then beheaded, his body stolen by his former adjutant Belial.
  21.
  22. Though all that remained of Lucifer was his head, without any of his five senses, he passed on his powers to Sandalphon. He also clung to life long enough to convey a message to the first person to find his remaining head. Unaware that it was Sandalphon who found him, Lucifer implored whoever heard him to convey a message to Sandalphon. He entrusted his duties to his fellow Primarch, including the responsibility of stopping Avatar. His final wish, the only thing he desired for himself, was that he could have had one last cup of coffee with Sandalphon. After relaying his message, he dispersed into light. His death was a catalyst for Avatar being released, for Sandalphon to fight Avatar, and to join the main crew in the Grancypher. He truly believed Sandalphon was the one fit to take over his duties as the Supreme Primarch.

  24. What makes the sky blue: 000
  25.
  26. Some time later, it was revealed that Belial had been acting based on Lucilius' millennia old plans all along. His theft of Lucifer's body was in the service of reviving Lucilius, transplanting his severed head onto the Primarch's body. Restored to life, Lucilius started again his plans to destroy the world, which put him against the protagonists and Sandalphon in a desperate struggle. When all hope seemed lost in the face of Lucilius' stolen wings, Lucifer's feather resonated with Lyria's ability, and Sandalphon, granting the strength they needed to prevail. Lucifer's essence and power were in his feather, connected to Sandalphon and the others even after his disappearance from the realm, and it made it possible for Sandalphon to be able to fight the Astral.
  27.
  28. Though Lucilius and Belial were defeated, a final trap sent Sandalphon falling through the sky. He awoke to find himself in a strangely familiar place, where Lucifer was, greeting him as he woke up. Offering him a cup of coffee, Lucifer speculated that they were in a place where souls went to rest before passing on to the next world. They spoke about the present and what had transpired. In the time he had alone, Lucifer had time to think about his life, his death, and his duty. So when Sandaphon arrived, he had thought about everything he could, and Lucifer reassured Sandalphon that whatever happened, whatever the world thought of him, Sandalphon would always be his solace. Their time together was short, and Lucifer admitted that he both understood Sandalphon must leave yet wanted him to stay. As Sandalphon left to return to the world of the living, Lucifer came to understand how Sandalphon felt all those times he'd said, "I'll be waiting."
  29.
  30. PERSONALITY: Lucifer is an artificial being, a Primarch, one created to oversee evolution and the world itself. Because his role makes all others of his kind his subordinates, he has always been set apart, special. This made him believe there was an unbreakable distance between himself and others, one which he tried to get rid off by asking the others to treat him casually.
  31.
  32. While he regarded his creator Lucilius as his friend, he couldn't really have any small-talk with the Astral, who was too busy all he time with his research. He saw Lucilius as someone he could trust, not just his creator, even if Lucilius didn’t see him the same way. Lucifer didn’t have any bad feelings for him, always calling him ‘friend’ instead of any other word he could have used. He wanted to be Lucilius’ friend, even though Lucilius didn’t see him as anything but a tool. He was conflicted when it came to killing Lucilius, because the Astral wanted to do exactly the opposite of what he made Lucifer for. But duty came before everything, even his own feelings.
  33.
  34. It was due to not having company from Lucilius, that he came to spend his free time with Sandalphon, whose lack of a role meant he wasn't a subordinate by design. Lucifer yearned to be seen and treated as an equal, and thus saw Sandalphon as his companion. In Sandalphon he found everything he didn’t get from Lucilius; companionship, friendship, and warmth. He enjoyed sharing his thoughts with the other Primarch, and always looked for his input. In the absence of this, Lucifer was isolated once more. Sandalphon was, in some ways, the most important being in Lucifer’s life, as he was the only one he could converse with in equal terms, unlike Lucilius and the other Primarchs. After learning of Sandalphon's purpose, Lucifer avoided that harsh truth, one he didn't know how to deal with. This caused a misunderstanding between the two, and he holds himself responsible for the results. Though Lucifer takes responsibility, he doesn't know how to make peace with Sandalphon's emotional turmoil, having so long repressed his own feelings. So he left Sandalphon alone. They never actually spoke, really spoke, about their feelings and desires until the end, when Sandalphon met him in the place where souls go to rest. That was the first time Lucifer understood what it was like for Sandalphon to be alone, waiting for someone.
  35.
  36. Lucifer’s appearance is subtle, only shown through small changes in his expression. He’s a rational thinker and is the image of apparent calm, even when Sandalphon threatened the other Primarchs he was cool as a cucumber. He might seem unfeeling and distant because of this, but this calm, passive demeanour hides something deeper. This serenity isn't just any lack of emotion, but rather a show of Lucifer's self-control. His restraint seems deep seated, having spent his whole existence giving priority to his duties over himself and what he feels.
  37.
  38. Due to the nature of his responsibilities, Lucifer represses his feelings in order for his duties to be completed smoothly. Whether this is a conscious effort or something he naturally does, in all his long life, he has been stubbornly dutiful and selfless. This mostly streams from the expectations placed on him by his creator, who thought Primals having feelings were just errors in his work, and thus treated them as if they didn't have any feelings. He killed Lucilius to end the thread he had to the world, and he protected the world from the weapon the Astral had made, but he never once expressed a personal desire until his last moments. Lucifer always puts everyone else before himself, always keeps quiet about what he wants or needs. Duty had always come first, until it was no longer his to bear.
  39.
  40. Having existed completely apart from mortals, Lucifer is bound to miss or not understand human social cues. He is more likely to take words literally, rather than read between the lines or pick up on sarcasm. It seems like his own emotional repression is part of this difficulty, as he had trouble understanding and reading Sandalphon’s human-like reactions and desires. If one wants to know minute details about how the Sky Realm works, he has that covered. Social interaction on a casual basis however, is something he's had very little amounts of. Therefore, he says what he means to say plainly, that is, of course, if he wants to say it at all. When he doesn’t, he most likely will transition into another topic.
  41.
  42. As he’s someone who’s seen as perfect by others, including his enemies, it's no surprise that Lucifer tries to be exactly as the standards placed upon him make him out to be. Lucifer is direct, assertive, and agreeable when he knows what he needs to do or talk about. When it’s something he’s not entirely certain of, he has a tendency to redirect focus on something else. He doesn’t know what it means to live for himself, so he didn’t know what he could do for someone who was trying to live for himself either. Lucifer, thought to be perfect, was flawed, and he didn’t know how to fix those flaws.
  43.
  44. Although Lucifer's role has dominated his existence, he loves the world and its inhabitants. He sees the hope and potential that the Sky Realm and everyone in it has, and he trusts in them. Over thousands of years, he has watched the world grow and evolve beyond the need of overseers to guide its way. And so he has allowed himself to hope for a brighter future for that world, even after he's left it. He knows he left it in good hands.
  45.
  46. POWERS/ABILITIES: As Supreme Primarch, Lucifer is the most powerful being in the Sky Realm. He's made out of the elemental magic of Light, and his powers are mostly concentrated on his core; his wings have the closest second concentration of it. He's strong enough that he can seal the strongest weapon ever made for 2000 years, and still be able to manifest himself in front of others.
  47. Lucifer is stronger than any human, the other four primarchs, and all beasts, as he was created as a weapon.
  48. He has the power of regeneration, is able to heal others, and doesn't age.
  49. Besides all these powers, Lucifer is also very smart.
  50. At the time of his death though, he gave Sandalphon his wings, which means Lucifer now doesn't have any, therefore he's slightly weaker than normal.
