  1. I have, just now, been denied appropriate relief from this medical problem, the cause of which I have been hunting for 4.5 years and have recently correctly diagnosed with support from my neurosurgeon. I have a rare and painful condition, which is as simple as a nerve on my right side moving to a position between muscle and bone and becoming trapped, instead of gliding up and down normally like it does for others (and does for me on my left, asymptomatic side).
  2.
  3. Since my neurosurgeon, who supports and accepts my correct diagnosis, is in a neurosurgical team with shared litigation liability, his colleagues have an interest in his decisions. Some of his colleagues are denialists of the existence of entrapment neuropathy of the sciatic nerve in the piriformis muscle (piriformis syndrome), which is the condition that I have. This denialism is a documented pheneomena in the field of neurosurgery, not because there is not enough supporting data, but because those denialists refuse to acknowledge that data. This unfortunate circumstance is condemned in great detail by Dr Aaron Filler (MD, PhD, FRCS) in his brilliant paper, Piriformis and Related Entrapment Syndromes Diagnosis & Management and also in the brilliant publication, Piriformis and Related Entrapment Syndromes Diagnosis & Management Myth & Fallacy by Robert L.Tiel (MD).

  5. An interesting aspect of this denialism is that the supporting data for piriformis syndrome is significantly more comprehensive than other existing and accepted pathologies in the field of neurosurgery -- 3 large scale, formal, class A studies in peer-reviewed publications totalling over 1000 patients. Nevertheless, I am now being discharged from hospital with a rather ineffective Schedule 8 Controlled Substance pain medication so that I can sit and endure yet more suffering at the hands of gross scientific illiteracy.
  6.
  7. So, the next time you say something fucking utterly ridiculous to me, something so pathetically thought out and intellectually under-nourished, please accept my brutal absence of an apology when I tell you to go fuck yourself. I mean, it's not personal -- I don't think your idiotic behaviour necessarily condemns you to an immutable future of same -- but I am nevertheless compelled to act on my behalf and that of other sufferers of the general acceptance and even celebration of intellectual ineptitude in our society. No, it is not fucking acceptable anymore, not even a bit.
  8.
  9. Now you might give me a cheesy grin and try to laugh away your display of incompetence. You might even just call me a grumpy arsehole. That's fine to an extent; I can take your name-calling and I can sympathise with your lack of introspective ability -- this is you acting out the idiot after all. But I will call you on it, every fucking time, so get used to it.
  10.
  11. You want to act out stupid? Do you want to entertain scientific illiteracy? Tell me about your healing aura, your wonderful chiropractic treatment, your quantum fields, your horoscopes, your denialism of the purpose of vaccination or even your pathetic and harmful religious beliefs?
  12.
  13. Fine, do it, tell me all about it, but the moment you threaten the well-being of me or others, just a bit, then brace yourself for a brutal rejection that behaving like a stupid fucking idiot is a reasonable and acceptable thing to do. Because it isn't.
  14.
  15. Now think, for fuck's sake.
