- To our readers who might not already be familiar with you, what information have you successfully leaked/predicted in the past? Why should people take your industry insights seriously?
- Answer: I have leaked quite a few things. I first got a lot of attention by leaking the entire press release text and trailer for Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid. A couple other examples accredited to my name include the newly revealed Link’s Awakening Remake, and that the new Pokemon starters would be revealed on Pokemon Day. People should take my insights seriously because I only accept information from those with major jobs in the industry or from people who have leaked several games before.
- Question: When you leak info, what is usually the reaction from the community do you observe? Hype, disbelief, anger, etc.
- Answer: Hype for the most part, though disbelief is certainly common. I think it’s healthy to have people remaining skeptical, because there is always a small chance that any information is fake or partially incorrect. Even from the most credible sources, sometimes companies do put out fake information to try to catch leakers, or information can get twisted and some details can be wrong. Hype is a lot of what drives me to share information or hints, because I like seeing people excited for news like I am.
- Question: Some platforms seem to have different knee jerk reactions to leaked news. YouTube is often too ready to accept bad info, while 4chan or 8chan can often quickly dismiss information, even when it is legitimate. Is this true in your eyes, and what platform do you enjoy best for discussing new info?
- Answer: This is very true, and part of the reason why I decided to start sharing information. In fact, the specific event that pushed me to start publicly sharing was when I saw somebody who I knew had fake info being practically worshipped. While the opposite happens on places like 4chan, where the majority of people won’t even take the most credible leakers seriously most of the time. My favorite platforms to share on are Twitter and Resetera, without a doubt. On Twitter, I can have more personal interactions with those who follow me, while on Resetera the community is very mature about how leaks are handled and are very thorough about which leaks should be taken seriously.
- Question: How do you find contacts? Are these friends of yours, or do you seek out employees? On what criteria do you judge your own sources?
- Answer: This is a good question. I’ve had several people ask me how to get unrevealed information about games or make contacts because they want to take on the responsibility. The simple answer to this question is that I’m very well networked, so I already had a friend who was with Nintendo. I then proceeded to begin talking to other popular leakers and journalists. I generally don’t seek out employees, though I’ve done it a couple of times. In regards to how I judge my sources, I only take sources seriously who either are verified to either work in or around the video game developer in question, or who have leaked multiple games correctly in the past. I don’t accept anything from anybody else.
- Question: How do you decide what you publish online and what you keep to yourself? A string of bad leaks can discredit someone permanently.
- Answer: Most importantly, when it’s safe. I only publish information from the sources that meet my standards mentioned in the previous information, and only if they don’t want it kept under wraps. Sometimes, inside circles can get uppity about information getting out when they want it under wraps.
- Question: Are there any leakers you trust right now?
- Answer: King_Zell, Imran Khan, Vergeben, Xenother, Hitagi.
- Question: Are there any leakers you speak with regularly? What is your relationship like with other leakers?
- Answer: Can’t answer this one, unfortunately.
- Question: What games do you currently play/enjoy?
- Answer: Super Smash Bros., Tetris 99, and RPGs like Final Fantasy or Persona.
- Question: Who do you main in Smash?
- Answer: That’s a good question! Donkey Kong. I also like Cloud and Ness a lot too, though.
- Question: Do you ever feel spoiled by the information you find?
- Answer: It depends on how major the information I find is.
- Question: Why do you like to leak info? What benefit do you find in it?
- Answer: I like to leak info because, as mentioned before, I like to share news, and with leaks, the news is often the kind that makes people hyped. The enjoyment is really the only benefit I need, I don’t wish for anything else out of it.
- Question: How do you ensure that you don’t face repercussions for leaking info?
- Answer: By leaking at the right time. I made a mistake by leaking so much information about the Power Rangers game when I did because it had a major impact on the game’s marketing itself. Now, I am very careful about both what I leak and when I leak it.
- Question: Do you think that leaks are an important part of the community and conversations overall?
- Answer: Depends. Sometimes, leaks can completely revive communities of dead franchises when a new game gets leaked. While other times leaks can hinder conversation at times by limited speculation solely to what was leaked. At the very least, leaks can be pivotal to certain video game communities.
- Question: I’d be remised if I didn’t ask, but is there any exciting news you’d like to reveal?
- Answer: Nothing at the moment, though I will tweet anything new as soon as I can. I want to provide consistent updates whenever possible.
- Question: Without putting your name on the line, what does your gut feeling tell you about the likelihood of Minecraft and/or Steve making it into Smash.
- Answer: My gut feeling is that there will be Minecraft content to some degree.
- Question: Any chances that CupHead could make it to switch now that the Game Pass and Halo may be on the way? Why or why not?
- Answer: I’ll leave you with a wink ;).
- Question: Have you heard anything regarding the new Pokèmon? Anything about a roaming camera, new Pokèmon, region specifics, etc?
- Answer: Not yet, though I certainly will in time.
- Question: Do you believe the rumors about a Switch Pro or Mini?
- Answer: I’m not sure, yet. A while ago, I read a major Japanese news website publish information about how a Switch Mini model was revealed to them at a financial conference, but that’s all I’ve seen on the subject so far.
- Question: Where can Nintendo go after the Switch? Will they continue to make hybrid consoles?
- Answer: My opinion is that continuing to make hybrid consoles could be beneficial. Perhaps a more powerful, yet still conveniently handheld, hybrid when it’s possible.
- Question: Do you know what’s going on with Metroid 4?
- Answer: Personally, I don’t know what’s happening with Metroid Prime 4. I’m excited for it, though. Retro is a great studio.
- Question: Have you kept up with the Switch Piracy updates? Or Switch Emulation? What are your thoughts on these?
- Answer: I haven’t kept up and I have no opinion on the subject.
