  1. To follow up with my bit on this entire ordeal as the head mod and the one who approve it I do fully admit that how this charity event was handled could have been done better. There were ideas on the table that could have made this a more rewarding event for the community to enjoy but I made a mistake and had it go out the door because of my own values of wanting to save a life.
  2.
  3. To that end the goal was accomplished but at the cost of some faith in the mod team by the community. To give some transparency as was asked we take bans very seriously and require a majority voter by the group leads within the mod team to carry out a ban. We look at not just what has been said by the person being judged in that instant but their past contributions to the community, comment history and our decision to or not to ban comes down to one question. Is this someone who we see as adding and contributing value to the community or one that has shown would do more harm?

  5. We then send out a PM explaining our stance if it’s a ban or just a stern warning about their conduct and most acknowledge that emotions got a bit high but that is an aspect of humanity that we acknowledge every day within our stories here. For the most part everyone on the mod team strives to be a shining example of the best of this community but we are human, we do make mistakes and we do miss some instances going on in the sub that slip past our radar as we are an all volunteer force.

  7. Though to make a comment on what OP has said about potentially recruiting, for the most part we approach individual members who express traits that we think would be a good addition to the mod team and that we have been working on a recruitment campaign that will be announced in the coming weeks. Just been taking a while to get the teams target needs listed as it is summer and everyone deserves to have some vacation time to rest from the toils of work/school/life and enjoy time with their family.
