A ruby light encases you two as you cover the rest of the distance, shimmering violently when rocks and debris collide with its surface.

  23. [2015-10-22 16:23:06] <Masterly> Looking behind you realize that the tunnel you had only moments prior, run through to save your lives, is gone. The entirety of the passage replaced by a firm, cavern wall. Almost as if the way through had never existed at all.
  24. [2015-10-22 16:24:37] <Garrett_Jr> Garrett rubs the back of his head. "Okay, that's pretty spooky."
  25. [2015-10-22 16:27:31] <Masterly> However, some evidence of your little foray yet remains. It stares at you Garrett, cocking its head to the side as if to say, 'You're welcome'
  26. [2015-10-22 16:29:47] <Garrett_Jr> "Thanks, I guess. We should get back to Cid."
  27. [2015-10-22 16:30:26] <Masterly> It chirps at you and tries to jump into your arms...only to phase through your chest, landing on the ground with a dull thud as it faceplants.
  28. [2015-10-22 16:30:41] <Masterly> It recovers quickly though and chitters are you angrily, as though this were somehow your fault.
  29. [2015-10-22 16:33:18] <Garrett_Jr> "Yeah, okay. If everyone else is alright, let's go. This place is weird."
  30. [2015-10-22 16:36:52] <Masterly> You pass through the main chamber as you leave, some of the Pokemon nodding your way before they settle back into cleaning up the battlefield, and you leave the Whisperwind Grotto uncontested but stronger now than when you left it.
  31. [2015-10-22 16:37:53] <Masterly> The way back to town is even easier, the wild Pokemon you encountered along the way somehow more wary of you now than ever. The shadows slink and recede as you proceed, as though they fear confronting you.
  32. [2015-10-22 16:44:28] <Masterly> So who do you see first? Cid, or The Gardener?
  33. [2015-10-22 16:45:22] <Garrett_Jr> Garrett decides to talk to Cid first.
  34. [2015-10-22 16:45:58] * Anne follows Garrett.
  35. [2015-10-22 16:46:27] <Masterly> He's sitting there minding the shop when you arrive, flipping through some document or another when you come in. He looks up at you when the door opens, the bell jingling as you make your way inside. "Back so soon?"
  36. [2015-10-22 16:49:02] * Anne shrugs "Sort of. It's been a weird day."
  37. [2015-10-22 16:49:02] <Garrett_Jr> "I don't really know how to tell time here. I got some spooky thing that you might be able to help with." He fishes out the evil Pokeball and shows it to Cid.
  38. [2015-10-22 16:49:23] <Anne> "I found crysals!"
  39. [2015-10-22 16:50:08] <Masterly> He looks at the ball and flinches when he sees it. He catches himself quickly though, readjusting his glasses to get a better work. "Where did you get this?"
  40. [2015-10-22 16:50:44] <Garrett_Jr> "Whisperwind something."
  41. [2015-10-22 16:50:48] <Anne> "Grotto."
  42. [2015-10-22 16:51:17] <Anne> "It was this big steel thing..."
  43. [2015-10-22 16:51:34] * Anne pulls out their magic index and starts flipping around looking for the thing.
  44. [2015-10-22 16:51:43] <Masterly> He reaches his hands out to take it but stops and asks, "Do you mind if I take a look at it?"
  45. [2015-10-22 16:52:33] <Garrett_Jr> "Sure go ahead."
  46. [2015-10-22 16:52:54] * Anne points to the pictire of a Lairon. "That! It became the shadow-thing."
  47. [2015-10-22 16:53:57] <Masterly> He glances at the book, and then at the ball, only more confused at the supposed connection between the two things.
  48. [2015-10-22 16:55:01] <Anne> "Uh..." she reaches for a way to explain herself.
  49. [2015-10-22 16:55:34] <Anne> "We were in this Grotto with a massive crystal that gave off light. Then the grotto was attacked."
  50. [2015-10-22 16:55:55] <Masterly> He voices this uncertainty to you three, "Lairon are beasts of steel and stone, the boy an' I are no strangers to the things...but in all my years I've never heard of a 'shadow-thing' come out of one..." He the ball down on the counter, pushing various things out of the way so that he has room to work.

  52. [2015-10-22 16:56:31] <Masterly> He taps at something on the side of his glasses, leaning down close to get a better look at the black ball. "While I work, why don't you tell me more about this Lairon."
  53. [2015-10-22 16:56:57] <Masterly> "What was it attacking? You three? What for?"
  54. [2015-10-22 16:57:08] <Anne> "No the Grotto."
  55. [2015-10-22 16:57:16] <Anne> "Probably the crystal in the grotto."
  56. [2015-10-22 16:59:20] <Garrett_Jr> "Yeah a big crystal by the water and this turtle wouldn't let anyone near it and the Pokemon turned into crystals."
  57. [2015-10-22 17:00:17] <Masterly> His tools scrape and prod the surface of the ball, prying bits of it open at a time. "What would wild Pokemon want with a crystal? They're rarely coord-wait wait wait, what's this about a turtle?"
  58. [2015-10-22 17:00:25] <Masterly> "Were you attacked by a turtle too?"
  59. [2015-10-22 17:00:40] <Anne> "No, it tried to warn us off from the crystal though."
  60. [2015-10-22 17:00:59] <Anne> "actually, the turtle was grateful for helping us fend off the attackers.
  61. [2015-10-22 17:01:19] * Anne flips the magic index to a picture of the turtle they're describing.
  62. [2015-10-22 17:01:24] <Anne> "Here, Wartortle."
  63. [2015-10-22 17:03:50] <Masterly> He actually turns up from the Pokeball at this, "A wild Pokemon that wasn't tryin' to tear your face...that's new."
  64. [2015-10-22 17:03:55] <Garrett_Jr> "Yeah the fluff turtle."
  65. [2015-10-22 17:03:58] <Masterly> "You sure it didn't have a master mindin' it?"
  66. [2015-10-22 17:04:14] <Anne> "Not one that we could see."
  67. [2015-10-22 17:04:20] <Garrett_Jr> "Not one who was alive." Garrett sets the medal down for Cid to look at.

  69. [2015-10-22 17:04:34] <Anne> "Most of the pokemon in that Grotto were friendly."
  70. [2015-10-22 17:04:47] <Anne> "At least, they weren't attempting to kill us just for existing."

  90. [2015-10-22 17:10:34] <Masterly> In fact, as he reaches a hand over to grab a tool, his fist phases through the creature who thrashes around impotently at the gesture.

  97. [2015-10-22 17:15:20] <Masterly> "Well, it's a medal as you can see." He scratches his chin as if unsure of how he ought to phrase this, "A military medal from the Bas'khorathan Empire to the north."

  100. [2015-10-22 17:19:16] <Masterly> He chuckles warmly at your words, "Yeah, I figured. I don't like telling people about this but well...you three are probably sick to death of people keeping things from you, huh?"

  108. [2015-10-22 17:30:07] * Masterly nods, "Mhm, Petre was just a babe at the time so he doesn't remember. He's grown up all his life here in this town, in fact. He's more Andor and Bas'Khoran and I'm thankful for it."

  116. [2015-10-22 17:35:54] <Masterly> "Anyway, let's keep that between me and you, eh?"
  117. [2015-10-22 17:36:02] <Garrett_Jr> "So there's a small number of people it could have belonged to. Cool, I guess."
  118. [2015-10-22 17:36:29] <Masterly> "People suspect already, but I would rather they not have a truth to put to their gossip." He laughs at the thought.
  119. [2015-10-22 17:37:48] <Garrett_Jr> "Alright, I wouldn't tell anyone. Anything on the shadow ball?"
  120. [2015-10-22 17:39:17] <Masterly> "Mm, I've an idea but the particulars escape me. This isn't really a mystery I can solve with a few hand tools in a single sitting..."

  122. [2015-10-22 17:40:06] <Masterly> "Whatever it is you caught with this ball, it's bad news."
