  254. Oh but frail at a 4 con... lol
  255. Ni'Len (GM): Mhm
  256. Elf Mage...or mixed class
  257. Barnowl: Okay, for the cleric probably the Moon God. Can a non-human worship this?
  258. Maybe there is a race that fits those stats better
  259. Ni'Len (GM): It is odd but not unheard of.
  260. Barnowl: Oh, but you are not using the expanded race lists
  261. Ni'Len (GM): The only one that is race specific is one you haven't encountered.
  262. Nope.
  263. Barnowl: Aha... okay I will look into an Elf Mage character
  264. Ni'Len (GM): Mage-thief might be the way to go. Try to stay out of combat always
  265. Barnowl: okay sounds doable
  266. Charles P.: The cleric is here!
  267. Ni'Len (GM): And whom do yooou worship?>
  268. Charles P.: Tbh I found your deity list a little confusing.
  269. Ni'Len (GM): Alright.
  270. How can it be clearer.
  271. Charles P.: Tell me about the deity known as The Flame?
  272. Ni'Len (GM): Mainly worshipped by dwarves. It is part of their holy mountain home. It requires its priests to create hearths from it's warmth. They literally ship in lava. The deity itself is not humanoid or gendered. It doesn't like the idea of people trying to influence or control anyone/thing outside of themselves.
  273. Helen P.: Hi, all! :-D
  274. Throgurd Salotson: Hello!
  275. Barnowl: Hey Helen
  276. I mean, Hey Helen! :-)
  277. lol
  278. Ni'Len (GM): Everyone Fresh off the boat?
  279. Throgurd Salotson: Can I get a generic City State deity? I do't fancy dealing messing around with lava just now.
  280. *don,t
  281. Helen P.: On gods, you do have two for tides; not sure if you want duplication.
  282. Ni'Len (GM): (I Dunno who plays Mungo...)
  283. The tide and the goddes of the tides are indeed different though they sound similar
  284.
  285. Throgurd Salotson is fresh off the boat
  286. Barnowl: I'll check back later -- I have my Sat night game starting now...
  287. Ni'Len (GM): And Throgurd, you don't have to be a hearth maker... There is already a hearth in Salidor
  288. Helen P.: cya later Owl
  289.
  290. Throgurd Salotson shall henceforth worship The Flame!
  291. Throgurd Salotson: (Who's you char Helen?)
  292. Helen P.: Ni'Len, at some point you might make a Character Creation or About the World thread with the basic rules about setting & dice & etc. I'd say pin it and don't let other people post there -- discussions can go in other threads. That way, the info would be quick & easy to find for making new characters.
  293. Throgurd Salotson: that^
  294. Helen P.: I'm still reading
  295. I'd like to play Hazza again at some point, although rolling up a disposable 3-3-3-3-3-3 PC to play first could be amusing! LOL
  296. Ni'Len (GM): Character creation is currently standard besides the things I put down. And will be updated as problems/questions arise
  297. Though... I did mean to close the Generals thread...
  298. I deleted your post there. But no it does not cost less.
  299. It is uncommon for the humans and elves to make so it must be custom fit.
  300. Helen P.: I'd edit your first post and state the cost explicitly.
  301. Ni'Len (GM): Dwarves are closer in size, but generally create finer goods... as they almost all are Flame worshippers and use lava to smith
  302. Mhm I am doin that
  303. Helen P.: Does anyone know a way to view [ [ 3d6 ] ] or other rolls, to see the actual roll used? It always worries me that there could be a typo.
  304. Ni'Len (GM): hover over the roll?
  305. Throgurd Salotson: hust hover your clicker over it. Or you could write it out as `/r 3d6 instead of 13
  306. example. /r2d6
  307. Helen P.: All I see when hovering is a little, "?"
  308. Ni'Len (GM): thats odd...

  317. Ni'Len (GM): hm?
  318. Helen P.: Roll20 is not fully compatible with my touchscreen laptop; some of the issues are probably the same as for phonex or tablets. I wish they'd just fix it so it works decently for all devices!
  319. phones*
  320. Ni'Len (GM): I think they settle for most.
  321. Helen P.: See, I'm already having to hunt through multiple threads just to get the stats & gold rolls info.
  322. Ni'Len (GM): 3d6 are all stats
  323. 3d6 * 10 for gold
  324. It is standard.
  325. Throgurd Salotson: Yeah, a basic char creation walk through would be a helpful post. Reading the whole BFRPG book is a little onerous.
  326. Ni'Len (GM): http://basicfantasy.org/downloads/BF-BeginnersEssentials-r9.pdf
  327. Helen P.: I still haven't re-found the gold reference in the threads. One place for all would be lovely! :-)
  328. Throgurd Salotson: lol
  329. Ni'Len (GM): it isn't in the threads
  330. Throgurd Salotson: 3d6 in line. starting gold is 3d6*10

  355. .ooc I hadn't rolled a second. but I pretty much have to now that I rolled 18 int.
  356. Ni'Len (GM): what sheet you using for the second?
  357. Charles P.: I'll take ephim

  369. Ni'Len (GM): Charles, you think the shopping forum is a hassle or benefit?
  370. Helen P.: What shopping forum?
  371. Throgurd Salotson: Hassle: better to just take everybodies word for it. I like it though because I want everybody to know what my character is pasckin.
  372. Ni'Len (GM): hahaha
  373. Throgurd Salotson: There is a thread in Sarkomands Fault wherein I detail every item I purchase.
  374. @Hazza
  375. *@Helen
  376. Ni'Len (GM): Do you mean to whisper?
  377. Helen P.: Oh. I personally find other player's lists to be very tedious. RP is a much better way than lists, IMO.
  378. Ni'Len, what's the diff between Extras and 2nd CS's?
  379. Throgurd Salotson: That's probably why I am the only one who does the lists. It satisfies my ADHD to no end though.
  380. Helen P.: It has created game problems in the past, however.
  381. Ni'Len (GM): Extras are blank sheets. 2nds are back up characters.
  382. Helen P.: So the 2nd are just inactive?
  383. Ni'Len (GM): -shrug-
  384. In a way.
  385. Helen P.: OK, so 2nd = "background" character?
  386. Ni'Len (GM): Thats a good way of putting it I suppose
  387. Helen P.: Ok, I just wanted to be sure of how you wanted to handle the 2nd's
  388. Ni'Len (GM): As I said. I may allow 2 characters in a game. Say if just you wanted to delve and get a lil back up. Or such
  389. Throgurd Salotson: Or if there were only two players present for the session?
  390. Ni'Len (GM): Yes.
  391. Throgurd Salotson: Ephims startin spell 8
  392. Ni'Len (GM): That might be an appropriate time.
  393. OOOO nice.
  394. Helen P.: Yep. I've sometimes played 11 characters simultaneously. My PC was escorting 10 generic rescued NPCs back to the city in a solo session.
  395. Ni'Len (GM): Protection from evil
  396. Throgurd Salotson: That's actually great. This will definitly help him stay out of combat.
  397.
  398. Ephim Enig is a non-com. He lives to buff you up.
  399. Helen P.: Under the abilities, there's a 7th box with no label -- what's it for?
  400. Ni'Len (GM): Point buy i assume
  401. Helen P.: Is WIS good for anyone but clerics?
  402. Charles P.: Save vs spells.
  403. always usefull
  404. *fer mages
  405. Ni'Len (GM): Not a requirement for anything else.
  406. Charles P.: Ephim Enig is ready to go.
  407. My two chars are going to know one another. A cleric and a scholar. Interested in exploring the new world.
  408. Ni'Len (GM): Sounds familar.
  409. Alright. friends from the Parent nations fresh off the boat
  410. Charles P.: (What's the brown stuff)
  411. Ni'Len (GM): The large or the veins?
  412. Charles P.: The islands.
  413. Ni'Len (GM): Islands.
  414. Charles P.: lol
  415. Ni'Len (GM): The Tavern you seek accommodations is shabby, by the standards of home. But you have hope it won't be the best you will be staying in. (It is... the others are worse) The human barkeep tries to shoo away a drunk drooling on the counter to no avail.
  416. Charles P.: (Are we starting? Is Helen prepped?)
  417. Ni'Len (GM): Just flavor text

  455. Barnowl: Excellent I need the help as I have a 4 CON
  456. Charles P.: I asked Ni'len to run me a solo. But since you're around we cam have a whole adventure.

  459. Barnowl: Unfortunately I can't :-( I have to get ready soon to help a friend with some renos

  462. Barnowl: Kitchen renovations
  463. Ni'Len (GM): Nice
  464. Barnowl: I am finding character creation a little confusing
  465. Ni'Len (GM): Need some help?
  466. Barnowl: Not quite sure what to do on the Abilities tab
  467. Ni'Len (GM): It is really only helpful for theives
  468. Barnowl: And is combining class Mage/Thief worth it given you have to combine exp required to lvl up?
  469. Ni'Len (GM): It can be. In my opinion.
  470. Barnowl: If my hit die is a 1d4 and I have a -2 then if I roll lower than a 3 do I instantly die?

  480. Ni'Len (GM): Indeed.
  481. Barnowl: If I mage/thief then I get 1d6?
  482. Charles P.: So enjoy your 2 hp. And 75% chance of 1 hp every time you lvl up. Which will not be often.
  483. Oh yeah, multiclasses get the bigger hit die!
  484. Barnowl: okay another reason to multi
  485. Charles P.: Plus armored mage is just awesomesauce.
  486. Barnowl: I can wear up to leather armour
  487. Can a thief wear studded leather?
  488. Ni'Len (GM): basic book. Only thing from not core is the rule for small armour.
  489. Barnowl: Just realized I cant multi as min dex for thief is 9 I have 8
  490. Ni'Len (GM): mage/fighter?
  491. Barnowl: That could work
  492. And I would start with 8hp
  493. Charles P.: That neg two for con and high xp requirements will add up to a glass chin though.
  494. But on the other han a vanilla mage might have 8 hp at lvl seven
  495. Hand*
  496. Barnowl: I rerolled my str 5 int 3 character and got less volatile stats. I'll work on that character later and then choose whoe to play first

  498. Charles P.: Bye!
  499. Ni'Len (GM): Cya
  500. Have fun
  501. Barnowl: :-)
  502. .!
  503. Charles P.: Ok then. Throgurd and Ephim would like to pick a large abandoned house and claim it as their own. And if there are no large ones, the largest one available.
  504.
  505. You choose a house which might have been a warehouse at one point. There are large rats.
  506. Charles P.: Ok, entrances and exits?
  507. (Also a light description of the interior spaces)
  508. Ni'Len (GM): Two exits/entrances are visible, the one you're in currently and the one on the other side of the a large room, beyond the rats. There are stairs on the north wall which lead up to a small mezzanine.
  509. Throgurd Salotson: "This will serve well enough as a base of operations."
  510. Charles P.: (It will not however serve as a place to live. Regardless, the duo would like to find someone around town who can put locks on it.)
  511. Ni'Len (GM): The mundane blacksmith makes locks!
  512. Charles P.: (Price for two locks?)
  513. Mandel: How good a lock do you want?
  514. Madel: The best lock is 200 a piece. But I will replace if they are broken.
  515. Ephim Enig: "I'll take the econo-lock."
  516. Madel: But if you just want it too have something to keep it closed, and not deter people from really trying to break in. 20 a piece.
  517. Ephim Enig: Two locks purchased.
  518. Ni'Len (GM): You've secured a rat infested home!
  519. Charles P.: After staking their claim, the pair would like to head to the local tavern to see if anyone has explored outside of the town limits yet.
  520. Aside from the one drunk who apparently saw devils.
  521. Dal: People travel out all the time.
  522. Charles P.: "Terrific. Myself and my colleague are newly arrived, and looking to create a document detailing the exploration of this place."
  523. Dal: A document?
  524. Charles P.: "A.. A document... Regardless, we wish to see the sights, is there anything of interest within a days travel?"
  525. Dal: There is a tower of a mountain almost directly north, and a little east.
  526. The plains between though are dangerous.
  527. Charles P.: "Oh? Perfect! Thank you for your time."
  528. Ni'Len (GM): As you walk out Dal yells after you "I like coin! and pretty rocks!"
  529.
  530. Ephim Enig looks around town for anyone selling an eyeglass.
  531. Ephim Enig: (Spyglass?)
  532. Ni'Len (GM): Only people who have them are sailors and they clutch them protectively if you ask about where they got them or if you can buy them off them.
  533. Ephim Enig: "We are as prepared as we're going to get for this first exploratory expedition."
  534.
  535. Throgurd Salotson visits the Flame Temple/Blacksmith to say a few words to his deity...
  536. the flames of the hearth warm your face. and crackle at your prayers.
  537. Throgurd Salotson: (What time is this session ending, btw?)
  538. Ni'Len (GM): You've two and a half hours.
  539. Throgurd Salotson: The duo departs, heading north.
  540. (The next morning of course.)
  541. Once you pass of out the city you are in a grass land with hills every now and then. The grass is up to your knees and thighs at time. Around midday you climb a hill. You see the sea of grass gets deeper, but in the distance you can clearly see a mountain, which makes your dwarven heart awe. It is tall, but is sudden. Among hills it climbs steeper than any earth has right to do.
  542. directly north a river breaks the grasslands, on the west side immediately stands a lush forest.
  543. Throgurd Salotson: Is the river east west?
  544. Ni'Len (GM): North and goes west
  545. Throgurd Salotson: How fordable does it look?
  546. Ni'Len (GM): Fordable but you may want to prep. Or go north to find a natural ford or where it is less wide.
  547.
  548. Throgurd Salotson leads the way to the river
  549.
  550. Throgurd Salotson then leads the way upriver, looking for a promising place to cross.
  551. Ni'Len (GM): Sorry the pause was for be getting the encounter.
  552. Throgurd Salotson: !
  553. you wade into the grass-sea. It is above your dwarven head. But you know the direction you need to travel. Enig alerts you that something is coming, visibly bending the reads of the grass.
  554. Ni'Len (GM): (Ephim is Human yeah?)
  555. Throgurd Salotson: Yes
  556.
  557. Ephim Enig looks about for a hill or some such where the grass is not so tall
  558. Ni'Len (GM): Sadly it looks like there are none around.
  559. Canine whines come from the
  560. grasses
  561.
  562. Throgurd Salotson attempts to set fire to the grass.
  563. Ni'Len (GM): ....Well damn man...
  564. How do you wish to do it?
  565. Throgurd Salotson: Ephim has flint
  566. And oil
  567. Wild dogs are no joke.
  568. Ni'Len (GM): Alright light the oil and give me a great lob.
  569. Ephim Enig: 2
  570. Ni'Len (GM): Ephim Lights the oil, goes to throw it a great distance. But either he is too weak, or lost his grip at the wrong time.. It flies.. and lands solidly breaking only a few feet away.
  571.
  572. Ephim Enig runs away!
  573.
  574. Throgurd Salotson follows as quickly as he can!
  575. Ni'Len (GM): The fire quickly spreads. Which way are you heading? The fire/animals were north-north-east
  576. Throgurd Salotson: Headed back south, where the grass was shorter
  577. Ni'Len (GM): You make it back to the hill to saw the mountain from. Looking back to see the plains are on fire. A good chunk of it, and it spreads as the winds blows.
  578. Throgurd Salotson: "Well, I'll be able to see next time we head out..."
  579.
  580. Throgurd Salotson watches the show
  581. Ni'Len (GM): The grass to the east begins to burn. But it is a little ways off.
  582.
  583. Throgurd Salotson waits around to see where the blaze is headed
  584. The winds pick up. The mountain creating a grand gust, SW. The heat reaches out. Possibly reminding you of the warm winds of home. But then the smoke stings your eyes.
  585. Throgurd Salotson: "We should head home, perhaps this will have settled down tommorow..."
  586. the fire jumps from reed to reed. covering ground faster than you think you can run to town. And it might not stop before reaching town.
  587.
  588. Throgurd Salotson leads the way east! Attempting to leave the path of the fire.
  589. Ni'Len (GM): Did you mean west?
  590. Throgurd Salotson: The fire is headed sw.
  591. Ni'Len (GM): From the north east.
  592. Throgurd Salotson: So we'll head east, trying to avoid it's path.
  593. Double time.
  594.
  595. The winds bring the fire on too quick as you head east. You tried to avoid the fire's path but as the winds shift making you run into it.
  596.
  597. Throgurd Salotson turn to the west, desperately searching for reprieve...
  598. 1 fire damage
  599. Charles P.: Oh dear, the char death is real around here. Should I just start rolling up my next guy?
  600. Turning back you continue to be in the route of the fire. 6 fire damage. The heart of the inferno raging less than fifty feet to the north. You worry that one more wrong step might have it bearing down on you. You're only hopes to return to town if they have a fire squad, or a plan to deal with such an fire.
  601. Ni'Len (GM): Yeah.. yeah you should.
  602. Charles P.: Lol
  603. Ni'Len (GM): Now to see if the town has a plan for brush fires...
  604. Charles P.: Well GG, I'll roll something up later. Gotta run.
  605. Ni'Len (GM): Yup!
  606. Lvl one games man
  607. You got xp for the dogs thou!
  608. If that means anything
  609. Heh.
  610. Charles P.: Lol. It does not.
  611. Ni'Len (GM): Hehehe
  612. Charles P.: Note to self, remember that fires outrun people.
  613. Ni'Len (GM): Not all fires. The wind rolls hated you
  614. Charles P.: Ah...
