- Error 192 - AMD Installer cannot continue due to an Operating System issue.
- Tried ^ again with factory reset checked this time, restarted computer so the installation could continue, but it never did.
- Ran command prompt as an admin, then ran sfc /scannow
- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
- I tried to uninstall radeon software adrenalin edition 18.12.1.1 dec5, as an automatic part of installing the latest 2020 drivers. However, a message briefly flashed about corruption. The message disappeared too quickly for me to read it, unfortunately.
- I've now been unable to install 2020, 2019, or even my previous 2018 graphics drivers. I'm now stuck in safe mode.
- I have already followed every step in these articles:
- https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb192
- https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb1604
- I followed all the steps here:
- Then chose win7-radeon-software-adrenalin-2020-edition-20.1.1-jan9 as the version to install (the most recent one at the time of writing).
- Installed using default settings (no factory reset).
- Seems to have installed correctly. I reached the following screen:
- Welcome to AMD Radeon Software!
- [Data collection & newsletter info]
- A system restart is recommended in order to complete installation.
- Worked like a charm, but with a few quirks:
- All services & startup programs under msconfig have been re-enabled
- My taskbar looks slightly different (dark gray background when it should be solid white, I think. Something to do with Aero settings..? I'll look into this later.)
- And there's a sort of watermark in the corner of my desktop that says my OS is in test mode, so...
- I went back to
- https://www.drivethelife.com/windows-drivers/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-on-windows-10-8-7-xp-vista.html
- and followed Part 4, Method 1, but with a tweak: I used
- bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions EENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
- instead of
- bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
- since I'm certain the latter is an exact copy of a previous step, which would've just kept the current settings, rather than changing them back to what I want them to be (integrity checks ENABLED, not DISABLED).
- I then followed Part 4, Method 2, and restarted my computer.
- The watermark is no longer present on my desktop and everything seems to be working as intended.
