  1. This conversation was one Weiss felt needed addressing, despite knowing full well that the walls around her heart would drop entirely. The former heiress was at her most vulnerable and she had a gut feeling of what was to come. She had heard the stories of Roman’s death, of Neo’s grief, and of her hunt for Cinder. While they agreed to work together, they had been separated for so long. And with Roman having passed away? It must have been eating at Neo’s anxiety.
  2.
  3. Regardless, it must be discussed.
  4.
  5. Weiss would remain as silent as possible as she allowed Neo to get her message across. Back then, she would have given her a gentle embrace and a kiss to ease Neo’s tensions. But she didn’t have that liberty anymore and it ate her heart up. Neo’s answer was more or less what Weiss guessed. After all of it was out in the open, Weiss took a few steps forward, the meticulous clicking of her heels against the tiles floors echoing throughout the obnoxiously large hallway.
  6.
  7. “… You’re right.”
  8.
  9. The former heiress didn’t think she would have said those two words, but here she was. Her face attempted to regain a sense of stern regality, but to little avail. Weiss couldn’t help but wear her heart on her sleeve. Turning towards the family portrait, Weiss took a single deep breath of regret. The risk of Neo losing someone again would eat her up. And Weiss wasn’t invincible. In fact, if it wasn’t for Jaune, she wouldn’t be alive right now. Her voice came as a soft, gentle snowfall amongst an empty forest.
  10.
  11. “I understand how you feel. Being forced back here, - being separated from you without any will of my own - it ate me up inside. There wasn’t a day that went by where I didn’t think of you. But, that’s selfish of me…”
  12.
  13. Shaking her head, Weiss looked back to Neo with an obvious sadness in her eyes. No tears came, yet, but her heart certainly ached. She didn’t want them to be just a memory, but she had to take Neo’s feelings into consideration.
  14.
  15. “I… I can’t imagine how you felt during the Fall of Beacon. I wish I could have done something - anything - to make things right…”
  16.
  17. Another deep sigh as Weiss attempted to steel her nerves, to little avail. Her hands were beginning to shake from the pain her heart felt.
  18.
  19. “I understand if you don’t want to run that risk. I’m not invincible and I know it. But…”
  20.
  21. The former heiress offered Neo a bittersweet smile, taking a few steps closer until they were a mere foot apart. She was still as beautiful as ever. Weiss could get lost in her eyes, just as back then. Memories of better times ate her alive on the inside. But she needed to get this off her chest.
  22.
  23. “Sometimes…I think living life is worth the risk. But… I won’t force you to do anything, Neo. I understand you’re hellbent on Cinder. Just know that you aren’t alone in this, okay? We’ll be here to support you through thick and thin. At least… I will. You mean so much to me… I…”
  24.
  25. A single tear streaked down her cheek. Weiss needed to compose herself, but figured it impossible. She took a few breathes before finishing her statement.
  26.
  27. “I still love you. Dating or not… And I always will. Dating or not… Just know that you aren’t alone anymore…okay?”
  28.
  29. Weiss’s eyes began to water up as she looked towards Neo with a bittersweet smile. Her words tore her heart asunder. Of course she still loved Neo. How couldn’t she? She ached for Neo every day when she was forced from Beacon. Weiss figured being reunited would be the best day of her life, but that came at a price. Deep down, she just wished the love wasn’t gone.
  30.
  31. Not completely.
