  1. Dear Professor N.,
  2.
  3. I am writing this letter as an Apology for the conduct with which I, as a teacher, have behaved towards the students which have been entrusted to me, which has resulted in the unfortunate incident that has caused much inconvenience on your part. First of all, it is appropriate to recount the events:
  4.
  5. I venture to say that my present case, which, while I dare not deny the sheer negligence with which I handled the events resulting in it (and do in all sincerity of heart beg forgiveness for), was also the result of simple misunderstandings between the students and their parents in the initial phases. It is well known to you, Professor, that on [date], I accompanied some students when they expressed their desire to assist at the offering of the Holy Sacrifice Mass (that it was in Latin and ad Orientem was the reason for their curiosity) in the oratory of the Oblate Apostles of the Two Hearts at Bambang. While I had neglected to inform the appropriate authority regarding this incident, I ensured that the students had received the consent of their parents before going to the oratory. Do know, Professor, that it was I who informed them of the liturgies celebrated at the said oratory, which has caused them to express interest, and, when they had done so, plan to some time go and experience the liturgy in person themselves. Therefore, I had taken it upon myself, being their teacher, and also as one having connections with the Institute, to accompany their group, but only, as I have said earlier, upon obtaining from them the consent of their parents, and the previous incident was, in fact, the second occasion on which I accompanied them. The misunderstanding arose when, on this occasion, one of the students' parents did not know that the liturgies were to be held at the Sto. Rosario parish of Our University, and not at Bambang. Apparently, the student had also neglected to inform his students of the exact location of the liturgy, and it was this oversight on my part that brings us to the present state of affairs.
  6.
  7. Having recounted the incident to you, I have nothing more to say in my own defense, except to beg for the mercy and indulgence of Your Office, taking into consideration that I am but a rash youth, and given to act without much thinking, still lacking the prudence afforded by the experience of age. In my zeal for the liturgy, I have been imprudent, neglecting to inform you and to follow the procedures, out of an inordinate eagerness. My only desire now is that a swift decision be made with regard to my case, so that Your Office might no longer be inconvenienced by the effects of my imprudence. Do know that I shall learn, and indeed have learned, much from this unfortunate incident, and that I shall endeavor to only act with proper deliberation in the future, always respecting the procedures set before me, which are what ensure the safety and wellbeing of the students.
