The author of the book is Mark Haddon, who is an illustrator, novelist, playwright and British poet. And released this book in 2003.

Concerning the book and its details, the main character and internal narrator is a 15-year-old teenager, Christopher John Francis Boone, who has the particularity of being autistic. The book is strange because the numbering of the chapters is not in order, there are diagrams so that we can understand, there are ruptures between the story and the thought of the main character.

One evening around midnight, Christopher walks around his neighborhood and finds the body of a poodle named Wellington in his neighbor Mrs. Shears' garden. When the police arrive, an officer asks too many questions too quickly and Christopher hits him, that's when they arrest Christopher for assault.
Once at the police station, he removes objects from his pocket, and they are not very common objects like a Swiss army knife, bits of string, etc....
It’s Christopher's father who comes to pick him up at the police station. Then he tells that he never lies because he is a good person... Then we learn that his mother died 2 years ago and that he couldn't go to see her.

Christopher is a teenage maniac who masters prime numbers to seven thousand and fifty-seven to perfection. He is very smart, he loves math, but he is a person who is anxious and stresses quickly. He likes logical and orderly things that don't break the rules. He can't really recognize people's facial expressions, so he has trouble understanding people's expressions. He is also a very stubborn person.

Christopher has a rather particular relationship with language because he cant lie : to lie to him is inconceivable because he is a good person. Lies make him shaky and scared.
His relationship with his father is not really described in the book, but his father seems very protective of his son.

Regarding the investigation and his motivation for it, Christopher is a curious boy, so, since he likes to have an answer to everything, it interests him to know who is guilty of this murder, which he finds particularly shocking.
