  2. By default vista home edition doesn’t have group policy edition i.e gpedit.msc.If you want to use group policy edition in vista home edition follow this procedure.

  4. Go to start—>Run—>Type regedit click ok

  6. Now you need to navigate the following key from left pane

  8. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa

  10. Create the following DWORD value (if it doesn’t exist):

  14. and set it to:

  16. 0 – Clients use LM and NTLM authentication, but they never use NTLMv2 session security. Domain controllers accept LM, NTLM, and NTLMv2 authentication.

  18. 1 – Clients use LM and NTLM authentication, and they use NTLMv2 session security if the server supports it. Domain controllers accept LM, NTLM, and NTLMv2 authentication.

  20. 2 – Clients use only NTLM authentication, and they use NTLMv2 session security if the server supports it. Domain controller accepts LM, NTLM, and NTLMv2 authentication.
