20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World&#39;s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind&#39;s. Reaching The World&#39;s End is the least of their worries.
In order to finish their epic pub crawl from 20 years ago, four friends are reunited by Gary King who is determined to get to The World&#39;s End but they have to go through pubs such as, The First Post, The Old Familiar, The Famous Cock, The Cross Hands, The Good Companions, The Trusty Servant, The Two-Headed Dog, The Mermaid, The Beehive, The King&#39;s Head and The Hole in the Wall. But, knowing that nobody recognizes them, they finally figure out that Newton Haven has been replaced by robots which is the only thing standing in their way of finishing The Golden Mile.
Five friends re-create the old days attempting a 12 pub pub crawl. The Worlds End is a very British comedy and is one that despite a few flaws ultimately works. <br/><br/>Anyone that likes Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movies will know what to expect and the duo do not disappoint. This film has plenty of laughs and although not as good as the brilliant Shaun of the Dead it is on a par with Hot Fuzz and Paul in my opinion. This is thanks in large to excellent performances from a top class British cast. For me the true test of any film is it&#39;s re-watch value and having just watched this for the second time, I probably enjoyed it more on second viewing. <br/><br/>It&#39;s maybe not as good as it could have been but there is more than enough here to keep you entertained for 100 minutes. <br/><br/>If you keep your expectations realistic then this is a film to put on and enjoy when you are in the mood for a few laughs.
This is the final instalment of Wright&#39;s Cornetto trilogy and it is the most out-there movie of them all. The World&#39;s End is an action-sci-fi-comedy where a number of familiar faces return to help Simon Pegg complete the &#39;golden mile&#39; by hitting 12 different pubs.<br/><br/>There are a lot of references to the other movies which I think hurt the film a bit. It&#39;s making too many nods to itself instead of just being a good comedy in its own right, not to mention that people who haven&#39;t seen the other films just won&#39;t &quot;get&quot; all the references and in-jokes.<br/><br/>Still it&#39;s a pretty funny movie that is well worth seeing! But you should definitely see his other films first or you&#39;ll be missing a lot of jokes.<br/><br/>And it promotes beer drinking which is always a good thing!
An ordinary drama embellished and in some sense infringed on by genre elements rather than the other way around.
