  22. Yeah, I'd love if you could help me with connecting through FortiGuard.
  23. Tell me, what's the use of an obfuscated server if you can only connect
  24. after contacting the authentication server, which is easily blocked by
  25. anyone? Couldn't you set it so someone could connect to an obfs auth
  26. server, since authentication doesn't require blazing fast connection?
  27. I mean, "yeah we rely on one main server for obfuscated servers and if
  28. it's blocked we can't do anything" seems like a really lame answer for
  29. someone who markets a VPN.

  35. Hello,
  36.
  37. Thank you for your letter.
  38.
  39. Unfortunately, it is not possible to establish a connection through a FortiGuard.
  40.
  41. You are not able to authenticate with Obfuscated Servers because FortiGuard blocks connection and does not even allows you to authenticate. It simply blocks communication with our server.
  42.
  43. Let us know if there is anything else we could help you with.
  44.

  54. Hi. I've been using your services since mid February and loving it so far,
  55. but a few hours ago I tried to connect through a restrictive
  56. connection(FortiGuard) for the first time, and I wasn't able to make it
  57. through.
  58. I tried everything I could.
  59. As I run Linux, I tried the openvpn terminal application,
  60. nordvpn(terminal), using firefox proxy settings to connect through port
  61. 80, using the firefox addon, connecting to obsfuscated servers, you name
  62. it. I even attached the chat transcript to this e-mail.
  63. Taking it that you guys want to improve your product and make it so it
  64. isn't blocked by anyone, I'd like to request your help and add a few
  65. things that I noticed.
  66. By all the means I tried to log in previously, I saw some things and was
  67. able to assume a few other things.
  68. 1) They weren't blocking nordvpn through blacklisting ports, as I tried
  69. connecting through port 80 when I did the manual firefox proxy and I got
  70. "proxy server out of reach"
  71. 2) Not once I was able to log in my account(through terminal, openvpn or
  72. firefox extension, they all returned that something went wrong or that
  73. they were not able to reach the server), so they might be blocking the
  74. auth server or its port
  75. 3) As seen in 2, if I can only do obfuscated connections after logging in
  76. into nordvpn software(such as nordvpn terminal application for linux or
  77. nordvpn addon for firefox), I wasn't even able to reach obfuscation
  78. because I wasn't able to auth
  79. 4) 3 is assuming that when your terminal application has an account
  80. already saved that you logged into through a non restrictive connecting
  81. and then try to connect to a server through a restrictive connection that
  82. filters the auth server, the error you get is "couldn't reach server" and
  83. not "not logged in"
  84. 4) I was able to retrieve the TCP(didn't try UDP) ovpn file from
  85. nordcdn.com through the "wget" terminal command
  86. First, when trying to connect through the terminal, I was already "logged
  87. in", at least it said that. When trying to connect to any
  88. servers(obfuscation on or off) it did not say that I wasn't logged in,
  89. since my notebook still had the memory of being logged on from the
  90. previous non restrictive internet connection.
  91. Every time I tried connecting to a server, obfuscated or not, it would
  92. spew random error logs, among the lines of "couldn't reach the server".
  93. When I logged out and tried logging back in(through the terminal), it said
  94. that I couldn't reach the servers.
  95. If you need to contact auth servers and authenticate for a first time in a
  96. new connection BEFORE contacting obfs servers through the terminal
  97. application, that means I was never even trying to connect to the obfs
  98. servers.
  99. Is there, currently, a way to make it through FortiGuard that you are
  100. aware of through NordVPN?
  101. Could you please also obfuscate your auth servers since they don't need
  102. ultra high speeds and to transfer loads of data?
  103. I mean, by blacklist the authservers they took my ability to even try to
  104. connect to obfuscated servers in point 3.
