  1. Humans
  2. Scholars
  3. Pale, near-translucent skin that show the veins beneath. They're absolutely hairless, their limbs are elongated, and the colour in their irises have totally blackened. Their skull shape has lengthened upwards to accomodate their enlarged brains, and they are totally androgynous. Seemingly immortal: they never get diseased, age or have any reported deaths as a result of their advanced medical technologies.
  4.
  5. How they procreate/expand their numbers is unknown.
  6.
  7. The Scholars are hoarders of all knowledge, of technologies of unimaginable advancement. The fact that their origins is a huge gap in their collective memories can drive them to near-madness if they are faced with a possibility of answers.
  8.
  9. They operate on Clark's Third Law: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.".
  10. As such, they have uncountable amounts of nanobots in their body, allowing them to use psionic, radiotronic and gravitonic abilities; they are able to directly interface and read from machinery and electric appliances, to control and destroy them without any (physical) connection, to manipulate their own gravity (to appear transvecting) and a field around them, and more.
  11.
  12. Their homeworld, The Citadel, is a planet-sized fortress. It is in a secret location in subspace, entirely protected by impenetratable force fields. It is possible for them to manifest it wherever they wish, but this has only been used once in a planet-destroying event.
  13.
  14. They only ones who have semi-infrequent contact with them are the Corsairs with which they made the Pact of Man, for someone in the galaxy to see a Scholar is often treated with ridicule; they are largely treated as myth.
  15.
  16. Corsairs
  17. Most similar to the humans of the 21st century; with key differences. The first of which is their many implants: eyes, arms and legs and even various internal organs are subject to replacement once damaged. It's hard to find a Corsair who has no implants, as their dangerous lifestyle usually leaves them limbless. They also have a weak immune system, meaning that outside their ships they have to wear full-body exosuits with integrated life support systems. Their skin colours usually range from tanned to olive to swarthy.
  18.
  19. Due to their entire lives being largely spent in space, the radiation of various suns has mutated them in various ways. Weak psychokinetic and telepathic abilities have manifested in the average Corsair, although it is not a skill that is considered obvious or as plain as day in everyone: it's reasonable to assume they either do not possess it, don't know they possess it, or are stronger but weaker in one or the other. In rare cases, extreme mental strength manifests itself; these people are called Empaths. They're largely used as interpreters with various alien species.
  20.
  21. They are usually employed as mercenaries, or otherwise they are raiders. But most commonly they just leave most aliens alone, and visa-versa. They frequently come into conflict with the Fabricants; a good source for their implants.
  22.
  23. They have done away, largely, with blood ties and consider the ship their family. Although they have relationship records to prevent inbreeding, they largely consider themselves married to the ship and everyone in it, and intercourse happens with whoever they feel like on the ship, when they feel like it. When two ships cross, they usually exchange people and relationship records.
  24.
  25. Some splinter factions have stopped obeying the "Pact of Man" forged with the Scholars, which is not to interfere with alien life or civilizations (unless they hire them to), never to settle and never to take territory for their own. They feel humanity's home is lost, and they'll make it wherever they decide to settle. Although none of them have any large support outside a planet or two, and they'll usually be quickly wiped out.
