  34. Pumpkin Town is a text-based RPG, powered by G-Type, playable in the Pumpkin
  35. Town thread on VideoGamesAge.com, which is located at:

  38. You have to create an account to be able to play, and you can't play it
  39. offline. It's one of THOSE games.
  40.  
  41. The goal of the game is to collect all 13 treats. At the time of this writing
  42. (Oct 28, 2021) this game has never been beaten by anyone ever!

  45. 02 - Basic Gameplay & Controls
  46. ==============================================================================

  48. The game is played by entering text commands in the thread and waiting for
  49. G-Type, or the computer parser he's been replaced with, to process and respond
  50. to your command. Sometimes it takes minutes, sometimes it takes hours. You
  51. just have to be patient and accept that this game is basically a part of your
  52. daily routine for a few weeks.

  54. The in-game help command shows the following:
  55.  
  56. - Special commands include: Help, Inventory, Save, Load, Restore, Score.
  57. - Basic commands include...
  58. - Directions: Go, exit, leave, enter, east, west, north, south, up, down
  59. (dependent on available options).
  60. - Sensory: Look, examine, search, take, drop.
  61. - Interaction: (context dependent)

  63. So just like any text-based RPG, you type commands and receive information on
  64. the outcome of each command. It's up to your imagination to fill in what
  65. everything actually looks like. For example you might type:

  71. Keep in mind this game has never been fully explored, but here's what I have
  72. so far by way of maps. Locations on the maps are oriented to correspond to
  73. in-game directions (east, north, etc) unless indicated (such as "up")
  74.  
  75. Note: when you climb the Bone Ladder to Pumpkin Town, you actually ascend and
  76. descend it, so you never use the "down" command on the ladder.

  159. playthrough. Like were we supposed to do something with the gum??

  166. - You can enter more than one command in a single comment. For example if you
  167. know that there's a witch in a certain location you're going to, you can type
  168.  
  169. East
  170. Speak to witch
  171.  
  172. ...and both commands will be parsed in the order given.
  173.  
  174. - Even though the goal of the game is to collect the treats, those treats can
  175. also be used as items in the game. For example, collecting the Candy Corn will
  176. give you 1 point, but then they can be used to mark your path in the Forest of
  177. Death.

  179. - Don't ignore the Examine command. Many times you can get useful information
  180. or clues from examining things.

  189. Q: Can you don items in this game?
  190. A: No, "don" is not a valid command.
  191.  
  192. Q: Is there an autosave feature?
  193. A: No, but the game can't be powered off, so there's no real need for it.
  194.  
  195. Q: What's the difference between Load and Restore?
  196. A: "Load" loads your saved game, "Restore" restores your saved game.
  197.  
  198. Q: Are there bats in the belfry?
  199. A: Yes. Remember where you've seen bats before...

  201. Q: How long does bubble gum stay in your stomach?
  202. A: Seven years, just as you were taught on the playground.
