  1. Gaius Marcus into Congress
  2. Comment-newspaper 0 comments today
  3.
  4. Well after much thought and consideration I've decided to run for congress. I'm running on the SS16 party ticket in Wellington and have received the endorsement of the PP, Kyle, as well I'll be on the official candidate list on congressional elections day. Last month I ran for congress but received nine votes, one short of making it in. This month I'm aiming for 12-15 votes, a tough goal but reachable, and I come before you today to ask for your help making it in.

  7.
  8. I'm going to discuss two topics to convince you why you should vote me into congress . I will explain what I will do if elected and what qualifys me to be worthy of your vote.
  9.
  10. 1. What will I do if elected?
  11.
  12. Economy: If elected, I will change taxes back to where they used to be, when the economy was thriving; the recent taxes are hurting everyone in eNZ. By this, I mean I will work to change income taxes back to 15 percent, lower VAT taxes back to 1 percent, and lower import taxes back to 1 percent. Our financial advisers and experts have written many articles with concrete proof of how the recent tax changes are hurting the economy.
  13.
  14. Congress: I will be active and on the forums/IRC everyday. I'm currently working as the eNZ Coordinator of Foreign Affairs, and the RCO (Regimental Commander) of the 2nd Wellington, and have been a active and contributing member of the community since eNZ joined the rest of the eWorld on the map. Many people can vouch for the fact that I am active/productive every single day. A current massive issue with our congress is it's extremely unorganized/inactive; I can guarantee you I will be active everyday.
  15.
  16. -As well with congress, I'll work to make sure we are organized and productive. I will work to make sure we follow the congressional codes, haivng the required discussions preliminary to a vote. I will work to make sure we have a productive enviorement; with a heated and unproductive congressional enviorement, progress-halting tactics (such as voting down a proposal simply to force a concession out of the other 'side') tend to develop, which can bring a nation to a halt. Whenever possible it's better to make gradual, mutual concessions for the sake of progress.
  17.
  18. Government/The People of eNew Zealand: I will work to make sure our government is transparent/open and receptive to the people's concerns/demands/needs. A current issue for example is some our government agencies/committees necessary to the country's daily running have gone inactive; I will push to make sure these groups are filled with active/dedicated people.
  19.
  20.
  21. Transparency is good, m'kay?
  22.
  23. Military: I will push to make sure our country has a war going on most of the time to keep the economy running and the people involved, even if just a training war. Wars keep the economy alive, keep the people active, and gives us a constant stream of experience. As well, I'll make sure our military has the necessary funding to keep our country protected.
  24.
  25.
  26. Now who doesn't love their own evil empire..?
  27.
  28.
  29. Foreign Affairs: Not only as a congressmen, but also in my role as the eNZ Coordinator of Foreign Affairs, I will work to make sure we continue down the path of non-alignment. Don't be confused; non-alignment is NOT neutrality. We will still be a political/military force on the regional/global scale, making enemies and allies as we go. The difference is we will refuse to be sucked into the superalliance struggle between Phoenix and EDEN; I will work to insure we will continue to make enemies and allies on a nation-to-nation basis, not an alliance-to-alliance basis. Think that's simply not an option? Not true; we are already successfully going down this path, and have managed to secure an MPP with Serbia and the United States.

  33.
  34. What makes me worthy of your vote?
  35.
  36. -I'm active, honest, and productive. I was a platoon commander prior to the military reforms and am now actively serving as a Regiment CO of the 2nd Wellington, and am responsible for 24 New Zealand Soldiers. I'm also the eNZ Coordinator of Affairs, and was a Deputy Minister of Trade in the provisional government. I've shown an continue to show I am active and can handle an immense amount and responsibility while still giving each of my roles/jobs a 120 percent effort. (Not to gloat )
  37.
  38. [img]-Even when not directly connect to my job, I've often been a productive contributor to many various and important discussions on the forums and IRC. -Last but not least, I have a thorough and well-developed knowledge of the game, from the economics to the organization/running of the military, from the inner-workings of government to the art of diplomacy. Vote for me; I might not be perfect (who is?) but I will always do my absolute best for the people of eNZ. Thank you.If you wish to vote for me, look for me on the SS16 (Super Sweet 16) party list in Wellington on the congressional elections day, November 25th. If you need a ticket to move to
