I will be reviewing the young adult novel The Hate U Give, by Angle Thomas. This exciting novel is about a girl, Starr Carter, joined a party and meet Garden Heights, which is her old best friend. And suddenly, a gun fight breaks out, then they went on a car, but the driver, Khalil Harris, got killed by police. Then Starr Carter tried to report to the police, but the police tried to convince Starr Carter to make Khalil's death seem justified, told Starr Carter that he was involved with gangs and drugs. And then Starr Carter figure out the gun fight is happened because of the king. Starr Carter found out the problem, and figure out the king is teaming with the gang. Finally king was caught because of he is exposed for arson.

In the book, The Hate U Give, the main character is Starr Carter. She is in a lot of scene. For example, she joined the party. She watched the driver got killed. She report to the police. And the most important part is she helped to solve the whole problem and because of her, the king was caught. The another important character is the king. Without him, the whole novel cannot be a novel. He controls almost all scenario. The whole story is happen when Starr Carter joined a party which is located in Garden Heights. And there’s a gun fight occured. Starr Carter was so scared because her hand is sweat. After that scene, she goes to the police office and try to find help and figure out what happened. But she was told that it is not an accident and she is confused. Then when there’s a protest activity, she was told that only shouting can the black community begin to break this cycle. And she got a loudspeaker and try to expose the king. And the king tries to make a fire to hide it. But then the police caught the king for arson. The story main message is if you want to solve a problem, you have to do something to solve it. You cannot just sit here and do nothing about it. In the story, two police officers stepped in. When they saw the guy was Starr's father, they pushed him to the ground and searched him. And then Starr Carter decided to shout to public.

I think author created very good scenes which is related to the novel title, The Hate U Give. Basically the whole novel is talking about racism and a girl wants to solve them. I would recommend to all people to read to understand what is racism and understand you cannot just sit here and do nothing about it.
