After hearing about suspicious things occurring near the island’s local inactive volcano, James, a particularly short and young looking 21 year old falls into some kind of pitfall containing a portal to a separate dimension where he meets Star, a very powerful being who was there in hiding for over 100 years. He escapes with her and manages to hide her in his apartment and after asking what the heck was even happening she explains that the Sun and Moon are in the middle of a heated competition, and that the Sun was kidnapped and had their power taken from them and was inherited by the moon. Star is the only rebel form a group of 8 other stars who were all based around planets. Star is the Earth star and their jobs as planets was to spectate them via astral projection, until the Sun proposed for all the other stars the Moon had created to fuse with them, which made the Moon angry so they created an army of thousands of weak soldiers called Reds to take down the Sun and had been in a battle ever since. The only reason that Star did not support the Moon was because they wanted to build an oppressive society that would exclude most of the weaker stars, and that the Sun's expansion from fusion would destroy the local solar system. After Star transports them into the star dimension so she could see what was going on, a nearby Blue used a visor in order to sense them and then track them down. He managed to chase them down outside of the portal and after having to be apprehended in order to prevent being seen, realized he was too weak to single handedly apprehend one of the most powerful beings in their society that wasn’t the moon or sun. He mostly disregarded James in the beginning but after accepting that he wouldn’t get his way was able to accept his presence. After a while, a corrupted Red bursts through the portal and causes major destruction to the island and has to be takes down by James, Star, and Blue. After fading away, Star decides that now is the best time to go back to the star dimension. While preparing to do so, the world is shrouded in a permanent eclipse, causing widespread panic and speculation. This is caused by the Moon who has decided to not continue the sunrise anymore. Once they go through the portal, the small army that Blue was with previously (which consists of like 5 other Reds) attempts to follow them and apprehend them, but they fail and leave. Later, Star transports James into her mind where he learns that she is infected by a Black Hole, similar to how the infected Red was that attacked the island. They defeat the virus together and Star has her inverted eye returned to normal. They find Ember, a flaming lesbian, who is looking for some that was singing a quiet song a long time ago off in the distance. She decides to follow the group in case she can find a lead on what she’s looking for. Soon, they find Dew, the water lesbian, who is isolated and had used the song to attract attention to Ember. After they are reunited, they plan on finding out a way to take down the Moon as quickly as possible. Soon they go over to the Solar Tower and attempt to fight the Moon and his army with the small group they’ve managed to create. Star ends up getting badly injured and before retreating to a pendant she fatally wounds the moon as well who retreats as well, and then James manages to end up wherever Star went. She is in a broad hallway with two pathways. She decides not to choose the Sun or Moon from those pathways and creates her own where stars would be able to do as they please without control or imminent peril. An entirely separate set of floating islands appear and James leaves for 2 years.
