Mvq Short Story

It was still raining. The smell of leaves and dirt was powerful. Rain really does make nature smell amazing.
Johnny's dad has taken him to hunt kangaroos. He's always wanted to. But he's scared because he doesn't see very well. He's blind. But his dad will help him hunt. He said he will.
Johnny feels that once he has killed his first kangaroo then he will feel like a man. His daddy always told him that the greatest feeling is to hunt.
"Johnny, stay very quiet .."
"Why?" whispers Johnny.
"There's a kangaroo straight ahead." his dad whispers. "I'm gonna aim the rifle at the kangaroo, and then you'll fire the tricker."
Johnny's dad aims his Nosler M48, with a scope that allows him to zoom in as far as 50 meters.
Johnny hears a click sound.
"It's eating right now Johnny. If you just pull the tricker, then it'll die. It's not moving."
Johnny, shakingly pulls the tricker. He's surprised he has to pull it so hard for it to go off.
The gun goes off, Johnny jumps back and hears a scream drowned by the sound of the gun. He thinks nothing of it. His dad laughs, "Great shot johnny!" he yells. Almost cryingly.
"Get up Johnny, quick! There's another one!" whispers his dad yellingly. Johnny rushes towards the sound of his dad. His dad guides his hand to the tricker.
"Pull the tricker." says his dad.
Johnny pulls. Right before the gun goes off, he hears a scream. This time it sounded almost like the kangaroo screamed "Plea Do". The gun goes off, the scream stops. "Great shot Johnny!" yells his dad.
Johnny feels empty inside. He thinks to himself, what were those screams? What did the kangaroo scream specifically?

On their way to the car on the road, Johnny has his head down. Rain hits his neck. He loves the feeling.
He replays the last shot over and over in his head.
Shot goes off. Scream. Plea Do.
Shot goes off. Scream. Plea Do.
"What could this mean?" Johnny thinks to himself.
"Daddy?"
"Yes Johnny?"
"What did the Kangaroo scream?"
"What do you mean? It's a kangaroo, they don't scream words."
"But I swear I heard Plea Do, I couldn't make sense of it due to the gun being so loud."
His dads face turns serious.
"I have to take a piss, stay right here Johnny."
Johnny notices his dads voice being sad.
5 minutes goes by and Johnny start hearing footsteps.
"You there Dad?" Johnny asks the wind.
No response.
The footsteps gets closer and closer. Someone touches his shoulder. He feels a strong piercing pain in his stomach.
He drops to his knees and takes his hands to where he feels the pain.
A knife.
Someone whispers into his ear.
"The woman screamed please don't."
Johnny falls on his back.
