  1. Tyler C: Hello, Thank you for contacting Rackspace Support! My name is Tyler, How can I help you today?
  2. You: Hello Tyler. This is third time I've contacted RS support this week in re: to the same issue. I'm stumped. I don't know why emails aren't being received when they are sent from multiple accounts on RS email servers.
  3. You: It's happening on multiple RS email accounts. And I never received any bounce back dilevery error emails. Until the last one I tried.
  4. Tyler C: Hmm could I get an emailbox that you're trying to send emails to
  5. You: engenius@aclassindoorstorage.com is the most recent one.
  6. Tyler C: Hmm and could I get another example mailbox that is sending to this mailbox that won't go through?
  7. You: No, I think you are misunderstanding, that IS the sending mailbox.
  8. Tyler C: Ah so this mailbox can't send to any other mailbox?
  9. You: It can send to some mailboxes (I've tried gmail accounts and they work), but when I try sending to www.engeniusweb.com which is registered on RS and hosted MX on Google Apps it fails to get received.
  10. You: Would you like to see the one bounce back error I received on Wednesday?
  11. Tyler C: yes please
  12. You: Here you go: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=wpJup4jh
  13. Tyler C: as checking the logs it appears these are all making its way to the google apps services
  14. You: And here's the original test email that triggered the error above: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=Z0iiRAQw
  15. Tyler C: Hmm on that bounceback there is just a dns issue which appears to be working now
  16. You: I don't understand why it says brent@clemsonatthefalls.com ?
  17. You: I never tried sending to that address, nor do we have that setup as an account.
  18. Tyler C: Its looking like on the gogole apps email there may be a forward
  19. You: There are no fwd address setup at brent@engeniusweb.com to my knowledge.
  20. You: That is my work address.
  21. You: Besides, we cannot send to ANY email address on the domain engeniusweb.com from ANY rackspace email account.
  22. You: That was the only bounceback I've received, so I figured I would give it to you in hopes of solving it.
  23. Tyler C: Looking at logs I'm not seeing any issue they all made its way to google apps
  24. You: Ok. Thats what everybody has been saying, but I'm not seeing them. None of us are.
  25. You: Can you confirm our MX and SPF records are setup correctly on the affected domain names?
  26. Tyler C: Have you been able to contact your google apps support team? to view the logs
  27. Tyler C: engeniusweb.com has
  28. Host MX: ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com.
  29. Host MX: ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com.
  30. Host MX: ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com.
  31. Host MX: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com.
  32. Host MX: ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com.
  33. You: Unfortunately we have the free (legacy) edition of Google Apps. They do not offer support for the free edition. So I've been scouring the web.
  34. Tyler C: However, aclassindoorstorage.com has TXT Record: "v=spf1 include:mailgun.org ~all"
  35. You: Yes, I tried to verify the domain with Mailgun in hopes of it might solving something.
  36. Tyler C: So it should only softfail emails they should still go through
  37. You: So lets backup... why did we receive the bounce back from earlier?
  38. Tyler C: The first bounceback looks to be a configuration error on the google apps side almost looking like there was a forward to that mailbox that didn't exist
  39. You: But there aren't any forwards. :(
  40. Tyler C: Unfortunately that is the only thing I can see right off. However, it was able to find it from the google apps config this is how it was able to expand from the original domain
  41. You: Then shouldn't that affect ALL emails being sent to engeniusweb.com (not just ones from RS)?
  42. You: We can receive other emails, but not any from RS mail servers.
  43. Tyler C: In most cases yes. However, depending on the configurations you have it may be they're failing or even blocking due to the spf information as you mentioned
  44. You: I hate email. Lol.
  45. You: Ok. So assuming this data is correct (that we have some sort of forward to clemsonatthefalls.com), is it possible that all emails being sent from RS email servers to *@engeniusweb.com are being routed to the same address@clemsonatthefalls.com?
  46. Tyler C: It is possible though unfortunately I can't say for sure
  47. You: Are there any other possibilities that you are able to disclose?
  48. Tyler C: Nothing I can think of right off unfortunately
  49. You: I'm totally stumped. I've been struggling with this for a week. I've never seen anything like it.
  50. You: I'm going to create a test email account brent@clemsonatthefalls.com and see if I can get anything to arrive there.
  51. Tyler C: Understood
  52. You: WOW.
  53. You: What the junk.
  54. You: I just received the email at brent@clemsonatthefalls.com
  55. Tyler C: Hmm strange
  56. You: I think I might have just figured this thing out.
  57. You: Weirdest thing ever.
  58. Tyler C: Excellent :)
  59. You: I'm going to contact someone else in our organzation to see if we can straighten this thing out.
  60. You: Thanks for your help Tyler.
  61. Tyler C: No problem at all :) Glad to help!
