  20. please help me out this newbie
  21. Why did you redirect it? If you've redirected it at host, naturally, the site won't be in Google's index anymore... Risky business, playing about with redirects, given your self-admission of being a newbie. You can try going back on your host site, and undoing the redirect, and see if it comes back in to the search results.
  22.
  23. Use the search operator site: and see if there's any pages still being indexed at all.
  24. Yes and no.
  25. Redirecting users for a mobile version is bad. Redirecting just to try and fool the ranking algorithm in some way also bad.
  26.
  27. Redirecting because a domain name moved is ok. So there are different cases.

  31. yeah the site is still indexed.
  32. just de-rank significantly
  33.
  34. it is a hosted wp site, but I didn't like the design and everything so I redirected to it my free blog on wix.com which has more visitor than original site and more posts.
  35.
  36. you think this harmed the ranking?
  37. yeah the site is still indexed.

  43. By 'hosted WP site', you mean one of their free hosted sites on one of their subdomains or you actually pay for the hosting and own the domain? Were the websites similar in terms of content/niche? If this WP one was ranking well, and you redirected it away, I assume the Wix one is/was always ranking better (hence it receiving more traffic; unless you're driving via social etc.) otherwise that is the biggest issue... Would have been better adding content and restyling the WP site, in my opinion.
  44. you actually pay for the hosting and own the domain
  45. this is right. I paid hosting n domain.

  47. Were the websites similar in terms of content/niche?
  48. yeah they're related in terms of niche
  49. What was the initial redirection for?
  50. If you put a 301 redirection, the complete link juice will pass to your main site. And one more main thing is you shouldn't change the backlinks of old url to new one.
  51.
  52. It will reduce the authority of that old domain. So you must care of doing permanent redirection.
  53.
  54. If you put a temporary redirection it will not much results over there.

  62. Your site is new you will see your site going in and out of rankings. With that said don't redirect URL's unless you need to
  63. "I redirected to it my free blog on wix.com"
  64.
  65. may be this is the issue. Wix isnt very good for seo anyway
  66. as your site is new then it will be better to never do redirection at all .. at least dont use wix for that and if you did .. make it a 301 redirection .

  72. so 301 is fine? if I don't change the backlinks of old url?
  73. Yes absolutely.
  74. u mean bad?
  75. I am not mean that.. If you maintain the baclinks for old url, 301 is fine
