Our first team post – Overview of team topic and assignments

Topic: Disabled American Veterans  (DAV)

Specific Purpose Statement:  Our purpose is to persuade classmates and their families to volunteer at their local Disabled American Veterans (DAV) office at least 2 times a year, by either driving a DAV van or via the Local Veterans Assistance Program (LVAP).

Problem: Veterans return from war sick and disabled and need help getting medical care, being transported to and from their medical appointments, and boosting their morale.


Solution: We propose that people volunteer at the local DAV office and assist the sick and disabled veterans by driving DAV vans and visiting veterans through the LVAP.


Possible objections listeners might have to our solution:
•	I do not have enough time to volunteer somewhere.
•	Why should I help disabled veterans?
•	What benefit does it have for me?
