Hello, my name is Ashen Hallens. I recently lost a friend I was very close to by the name of Sophie Skye.



Sophie (who previously went by the name of Rosa) was a transgender student at the University of North Texas who loved watching anime with friends and was an active member of the Super Smash Bros. community. She was a wonderful person who brought joy to everyone she met.



On January 23rd, 2018, Sophie took her own life. Following her death, Sophie's unsupportive parents held an obituary in her dead name, misgendering her on her death bed (maybe change this to "after her passing"). As a close friend of hers, I want to help her to be remembered as the person she was and as the identity she preferred.


This GoFundMe page's goal is to raise funds for The Trevor Project to support suicide awareness and prevention in the LGBTQ community. All donations given to this cause will go directly to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth. I hope that through this cause we can help support individuals with suicidal thoughts and prevent the loss of loved ones to suicide.
