Wally Log-Church

Wallace steps in through the front door, pausing to look around etly.

    Verlaine is in the chapel this evening sweeping, dressed in her clerical shirt and tabbed color. Her eyes drift up when she hears someone enter the church and she sets the broom against one of the pews. Her quiet steps take her towards the Vestibule where she stops, seeing you. There's a moment of quiet as she stares at you, her expression a bit neutral as her hands fold together in front of her.
Wallace stands , not trying to approach you, respectfully. He doesnt immediately speak , nor does he try to approach you. Giving you a chance to simply be aware of him there.

        "Mr. Johnstan." Verlaine says softly, eyes closing for a moment as she shakes her head before she looks back to you. "What are you doing here?"
Wallace speaks softly, but his voice carries easily in this large room. "I wanted to speak to you.. if I may."

        Verlaine's jaw works briefly, hands gripping tight together before she nods her head. "This is the House of the Lord. All are welcome here. What do you want to speak about?"

Wallace moves a step or two closer "I understand, but I know he will welcome me.. Its you that I would have welcome me. A welcome I know I dont deserve."

        As you step closer and say those words she closes her eyes and shakes her head slightly. "You would have me welcome you?" She inhales slowly and then lets it out before looking back to you. "If you wish to seek the Lord then I can help you. If you seek me.. then I cannot."

Wallace shakeshis head "I.. dont really know anything about him.. Honestly.. IM more concerned about you."

        "Don't be. I have the Lord. And I have friends. What do you want Mr. Johnstan? Speak plainly." She remains rather still, though there is obvious tension in her voice.

Wallace sighs and looks up at you finally, and fully. "Im not really sure. I just know I need something from you.. I cant put a word to what.. or exactly why its important.. you are making it pretty clear that you dont care a whit about me."

        "Do not try to make me feel guilty Mr. Johnstan. I do care about you. I care for your spiritual wellbeing." Something about your words does give Verlaine pause though. "What.. do you need from me?"

Wallace sighs and moves a little closer, not too close, "I dont know.. I messed up.. I didnt realize it at the time.. and I dont normally dwell on such tings.. but .. I cant seem to get it out of my head.. I regret what happened.. And IM not trying to make you feel guilty.. More, I want a fresh clean slate with you.. "

        "That can't happen. A fresh clean slate? No." Verlaine shakes her head, eying you intently as you step closer though she doesn't step back. Her left hand loops under the golden necklace around her neck before she pulls out the cross that she always wears and holds it in her right hand. "You don't normally dwell on such things?"

Wallace nods "Mistakes.. We all have them.. Things you wish you had done differently or not done." he shrugs "I dont normally dwell on those things."

        "Okay." Verlaine's voice is soft now. "Mr. Johnstan, I can't give you a clean slate. I can forgive you but I can't forget what happened."

Wallace looks at you for a momet and his brow furrows a little "Thats fair I suppose.. I am sorry things got out of hand.. I /did/ think you were.. interested.. Im sorry that I failed to understand you were not in control of yourself." he sighs "I cant help but feel like .. I lost something very special .. "

        "You chased me down after I ran away and then held me against you until I kissed you." Verlaine's jaw clenches slightly. "What did you lose?"

Wallace Frowns a little 'A friend." he states simply "And I did .. Because I .. It doesnt matter.I was wrong." he then sighs and turns "Ill leave you for now.. perhaps later.. After time you will call me once aain. And we can see if there is any chance of friendship."

        "Turn yourself into the police Wally. Confession heals the soul." Verlaine speaks up as you turn to leave, still standing rather sitll.

Wallace looks over at you and his eyes widen "For what.. kissing you?" he sighs "It was wrong, not illegal.. " then he just shoves his hands in his pockets and starts to head out.
