  1. Request: Kris and Susie conspiring to skip class and go on a date at the diner
  2.
  3. This morning was proving to be just as uneventful as the last one, but today Kris actually had a reason to go to school- One other than to keep their mother from beating their skull in via nagging.
  4. They looked in the mirror as they finished their morning routine. They used to not care about it too much, but maybe…
  5. They take the comb from its place by the sink, and after plucking out some tufts of familiar white fur, fix their hair a little. They even try a smile, though that worked out more or less as it always did. It just looks… gross. Creepy, even. They hear their mother calling their name from the next room over, and they quickly put the comb back, reminding themself that even if they were a bit excited, they probably should still keep the smiling to a minimum.
  6. The car ride to the school is uneventful as ever. Kris saw Monster kid(teen?) dashing by and waved hi through the window. Monster kid doesn’t wave back -due to obvious reasons- instead wagging their tail towards the car. They almost run face first into a lamp post for their troubles, but somehow they manage to dodge it. They get to school moments after Kris, making them question why they even take the Car to school when Toriel refuses to drive it any faster than ten miles per hour.
  7.
  8. Class is starting in a few minutes. Which meant they had time to kill. They come across Susie by the supply closet. Seems they both had the same idea. Susie greets them with a rough
  9. “Hey,”
  10. And Kris responds with a slight nod. The air between them stagnates for a bit, as neither of them really knows how to act after the events of yesterday.
  11.
  12. “Um…”
  13. Kris is the one to break the silence, to Susie’s surprise. She raises an eyebrow and allows them to finish.
  14. “On three?”
  15. Susie grins in response.
  16. “You sure your mom won’t blow a fuse if you skip class?”
  17. Kris thinks it over for a second.
  18. “Not if she never finds out.”
  19. Susie chuckles, and opens the door, or at least tries to. She tries again, but the door won’t budge.
  20. “Locked…” She grumbles.
  21. “Figures. Wanna go back to class?” Kris responds.
  22. “Not… really. I mean… It’s Alphys’ class.” Susie gives her excuse, and Kris nods, letting out a quick “Ah.” in understanding.
  23. “So what are you gonna do?” Kris asks, and Susie seems a bit defensive. She doesn’t respond at all, just looking away and scratching her neck like she’d been caught in a lie.
  24. “...Want to go for dinner?” Kris finally asks. And Susie looks like she’s going to decline, until her rumbling stomach proves otherwise. She grumbles, and scratches her belly.
  25. “...Sure.” She finally responds. And as soon as they start walking towards the exit, Kris has to force down a smile. Once they get to the door, Susie turns to Kris with a mysterious expression on her face, half obscured by her bangs.
  26. “Just so we’re clear, this isn’t a… date or anything, is it?” She asks, scratching her cheek.
  27. Kris can feel something tighten in their chest, and they swallow their spit before finally responding with;
  28. “Not if you don’t want it to be.”
  29. Susie stops completely and after a short pause chuckles, which then turns into a laugh. She clutches her stomach with her clawed hands and laughs loud enough for the entire class -which was no doubt in session by now- to hear, and for a moment Kris worries that they had said something stupid.
  30. Susie begins to calm down, wheezing as they do so. They give Kris a look.
  31. “Oh wait you’re serious.” She stops smiling entirely. A bit of a blush creeps up on her face.
  32. Kris nods.
  33. Susie holds her arm, turning her gaze down and away from Kris’. Confused, yet, not at all unhappy with the unexpected development.
  34. “...Sure… I… I guess.”
  35. The silence that comes after that is unbearable.
  36. This time, it’s Susie who breaks it. Or rather, Susie’s stomach. Kris wonders if she relies on chalk as her only breakfast, but Susie quickly interrupts that train of thought by clapping them on the back. “Hey, are you just gonna stand there all day? Get moving, punk.”
  37. Kris does their best to hide a smile as they step out the door from the school, and Susie follows with them.
  38. “Hey just so you know, you’re paying, cuz I’m flat broke.” She says, letting the door close behind the two of them. “Oh and, uh… Did you do something with your hair? It looks… uh... nice.”
  39. “You look like you haven’t showered in weeks.” Kris responds, cheekily.
  40. Susie punches them in the shoulder as they start walking. “Nevermind, I take it back.”
  41. They continue bantering all the way to the diner, and Kris can’t help but smile a few times, despite doing their best not to.
