  14. Should I worry about this bounce rate?
  15. I know bounce rate has something to do with people leaving immediately, and somehow the way the leave matters. (that could all be wrong too)
  16.
  17. Anyway, does it matter.
  18. Bounce to me says you left immediately. Staying 5 minutes says you read the whole article.
  19. (I can't believe it would take 5 minutes to read that article, but maybe it does take that long)
  20. (it could also be that a video opens up in a new window, would that explain bounce)
  21. Depends who you ask. Some people say it's a factor others insist it's not at all. See if you can find any credible case studies.
  22.
  23. Would you like to earn more with your Amazon affiliate website??
  24. Depends on many things. If people found their answers on your website, they'll not go anywhere else so you should not be worried about "pogo-sticking". If they spend way more time on other websites in SERP, that could be a problem. Have you tried to link other articles inside the page ? Could definitely help.
  25. I can really only speak for myself, but this notion of Google's that you need to write 2000 words on a topic frustrates me.
  26.
  27. If I get to a page and have to fight to find what I want I leave. I bet I spend less than 10 seconds on half the sites I go to.
  28. I also don't wander through the entire grocery store if I am only there to pick up a six pack.
  29.
  30. Anyway, I like the snippets they give but I don't trust Google's ability to judge if is the source is credible or not, so even with snippets, I still have to check other sources.
  31. I am sure we have all seen great posts on pages 2 and 3 because Google put some dumbshit's post on page 1 because the were more popular.
  32.
  33. So i am probably one of the worst "pogo sticking" offenders.
  34.
  35. If only established authorities and "popular people" can get on page 1 I am forced to jump all around. The government type sites (Mayo Clinic, Wikipedia) is not going to release edgy information for fear of looking bad or lawsuits if they get it wrong. And generally speaking, the "mad scientist" types are out in the woods howling at the moon, they aren't what you would call popular
  36.
  37. For me, Google is ruining the internet with there drive to put more and more of the same content, but said in different words, out there.
  38.
  39. I just hope that eventually this "skyscraper" content notion gets dumped. I would rather have 200 well written words that convey a message than a 1000 words that repeat themselves.
  40. I wouldn't be too concerned so long as your 1-page visits are converting.
  41. They are not converting, but it is also a long sales funnel. I expect to pick up most of them with Re-Marketing.
  42.
  43. It is not a one visit and buy sort of thing.
  44.
  45. People go to the page, watch the video, than go to the order page and stop/don't buy. If Re-marketing picks them up I will be fine, if not, I have the wrong sales page.
  46. This is a Clickbank product, so there is nothing I can do to change their videos sales pitch. The only thing I can do if it is their sales video is get another product or create my own.
  47. I think that makes perfect sense. I personally have a lot of reviews which can bring my bounce rate up to 80 and above. I've modified my google analytics to not count bounce rate if people spend more than a minute (you can set any time you want) on my page they've found the answer to their question and left. I am sure it may affect the rankings if they leave without going to another page, but as people here say, you never know. I just use analytics for myself mostly.
  48. A high bounce rate is not always a bad thing.
  49. Especially on one-page websites it can be 80% or more.
  50. After all, bounce rate is the percentage of single-page sessions.
