- 14:56
- Mickey Mouse
- @D'artagan hawks here too
- 14:56

- 15:03
- Mickey Mouse
- @D'artagan thanks for that link

- 15:04
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pinocchio lol
- 15:04
- Mickey Mouse
- cool Aramis
- 15:04
- Mickey Mouse
- @Apollo alternatively you can also setup your own virtual lab with something like Oracle VirtualLabs and a Kali Linux install
- 15:04
- Mickey Mouse
- When I join BHN free hotspot I can see pretty much all hostnames..thousands
- 15:05
- Mickey Mouse
- I have seen in here using Android tablets for some of the foot printing etc. How much RAM is needed andante specific versions of Android?
- 15:05

- Mickey Mouse
- @Donald thanks
- 15:06
- Mickey Mouse
- i have KaliLinux on my PC, Thanks Minnie for the link
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- Baby monitors too
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- you can't even block people from using the wifi - marriott was just disassociating clients from other SSIDs - not jamming the signal
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- @Philoctetes: called my sisters, "Pretty fly for a WIFI"
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- Drone controllers are 2.4 sometimes
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- Anyone running Kali on a Raspberry Pi yet?
- 15:07
- Mickey Mouse
- @Donald is there a differentiation in terminology between jamming and disassociating clients from SSIDs for CEH?
- 15:08
- Mickey Mouse
- They are super illegal. Some of them the internal chips aren't marked.
- 15:08
- Mickey Mouse
- I have kali on a Pi
- 15:08
- Mickey Mouse
- Working on Kali Nethunter for my Nexus 7
- 15:08
- Mickey Mouse
- I have a couple of Pi's running Kali, very good for research and training
- 15:08
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos - how well does it run?
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- not used it for anything serious , but was just for fun
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- My hometown. JFK is a nightmare.
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- thaks Athos
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie: I think jamming and de-authentication are different
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- Truckers buy those all the time
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- I have a Pi 2 and will be getting Kali for Arm
- 15:09
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pinocchio thank you
- 15:10
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie, look up WIPS (Wireless Intrusion Prevention System) and De-auth packets
- 15:10
- Mickey Mouse
- they're different but FCC will have your hide for either
- 15:10
- Mickey Mouse
- QUESTION: So a deauthentication attack affects availability but not the same as jamming with a physical device which takes out the entire frequency?
- 15:11
- Mickey Mouse
- @Patrick thanks
- 15:12
- Mickey Mouse
- Yay, boss just approved upgraded premium membership
- 15:12
- Mickey Mouse
- @D'artagan nice boss
- 15:12

- Mickey Mouse
- Congrats D'artagan!
- 15:13
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie TWiET talked about the Marriott de-auth in ep. 125 in good detail. It was viewed as a grey area. http://twit.tv/show/this-week-in-enterprise-tech/125
- 15:13
- Mickey Mouse
- You have no idea, I mentioned CEH offhandedly, and a month later, we're working on it. Awesome guy

- Mickey Mouse
- @D'artagan you guys hiring?
- 15:14

- 16:19
- Mickey Mouse
- Agreed.
- 16:20
- Mickey Mouse
- I loved the interaction of the chat room, you all made the class even more interesting .
- 16:20
- Mickey Mouse
- (i agree - this has been great. does anyone regularly join other chat areas?)
- 16:20
- Mickey Mouse
- Enjoy guys.
- 16:20
- Mickey Mouse
- i would rather driverless cars drive by wire and only use there special driving skills when drive by wire is not available.
- 16:21
- Mickey Mouse
- hazaaa
- 16:21
- Mickey Mouse
- I'm out. Chow everyone! Be back soon.
- 16:21
- Mickey Mouse
- Adios
- 16:21
- Mickey Mouse
- I am not leaving till I Win a book
- 16:21
- Mickey Mouse
- whatever works
- 16:22
- Mickey Mouse
- everyone in the chat: Thanks for everything, in case I can't make the later show
- 16:22
- Mickey Mouse
- what do you mean?
- 16:22
- Mickey Mouse
- me too
- 16:22
- Mickey Mouse
- who would contol them
- 16:22
- Mickey Mouse
- Take care Pinocchio
- 16:23
- Mickey Mouse
- your talking about physical wire right? like the wire guided torpedos
- 16:25
- Mickey Mouse
- so... lunch?
- 16:25
- Mickey Mouse
- Back later for last show.
- 16:27
- Mickey Mouse
- ok just looked it up, wire guided as in follows a wire on the ground, was gonna say it would be a long wire otherwise
- 16:27
- Mickey Mouse
- Ha, I was getting the "Don deep-voice bug" again.
- 16:27
- Mickey Mouse
- hahaha
- 16:28
- Mickey Mouse
- I haven't heard that since the Roku streaming for a lengthy period of time.
- 16:29
- Mickey Mouse
- rather than depend entirely on itself be externaly coordinated with the in lane path defined. not practicle because it requires infrastructure
- 16:29
- Mickey Mouse
- Of course I was watching the live-stream from my phone for a long time.
- 16:30
- Mickey Mouse
- Now that my wife is up, I can cast the content when they get back from lunch.
- 16:31
- Mickey Mouse
- Even if we did put the needed lanes in place, they would have to be separate from normal roads, because the other drivers would be to great of a risk
- 16:31
- Mickey Mouse
- which is why i was saying for driverless cars they would all have to be the same, cause people drive like nut cases
- 16:31
- Mickey Mouse
- lol
- 16:33
- Mickey Mouse
- It will happen though, prob not in our lifetime but at some point
- 16:33
- Mickey Mouse
- yes that works the best
- 16:35
- Mickey Mouse
- Back - ah, is this a lunch break rather than a short break?
- 16:35
- Mickey Mouse
- wb
- 16:35
- Mickey Mouse
- yup lunch
- 16:35
- Mickey Mouse
- Yes.
- 16:36
- Mickey Mouse
- be back after lunch
- 16:36
- Mickey Mouse
- In which case afk and back for later session
- 16:37
- Mickey Mouse
- I'll cast the chat - and find out if it was just a pesky telemarketer that interrupted my live-stream.
- 16:37
- Mickey Mouse
- so is it only UK that has easter bank hols? cause eveyone seems to be at work
- 16:38
- Mickey Mouse
- I'm off.
- 16:38
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar I am in the US and have today off.
- 16:39
- Mickey Mouse
- Jafar S and monday?
- 16:39
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar. The CEO is catholic so we always have Black Friday off
- 16:39
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar No just today
- 16:39
- Mickey Mouse
- in the US it's not a national holiday - although plenty of companies use this time of year to give an extra day off as a holiday or some people use it as a floating holiday
- 16:39
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie there is a session after lunch. Not sure if that was what you were asking
- 16:40
- Mickey Mouse
- Black friday only started over here a few years ago
- 16:40
- Mickey Mouse
- Where is here for you?
- 16:40
- Mickey Mouse
- UK
- 16:40
- Mickey Mouse
- heh - black friday has been around a long time...
- 16:41
- Mickey Mouse
- London, not sure if the other parts of UK even have it
- 16:41
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah the only time i had heard of it until recently is in movies from US
- 16:41
- Mickey Mouse
- Yep, i was just listening to stuffyoushouldknow about Easter and Black Friday. Interesting stuff.
- 16:42
- Mickey Mouse
- need to listen to that one. queued on podplayer.
- 16:43
- Mickey Mouse
- Arrrrrrrrg this whole time I meant Good Friday not Black Friday
- 16:43
- Mickey Mouse
- QUESTION: Are we on the lunch break?
- 16:43
- Mickey Mouse
- gary - yes
- 16:43
- Mickey Mouse
- thanks.
- 16:44
- Mickey Mouse
- ahh, now thats different that has been in UK for ever!! haha
- 16:44
- Mickey Mouse
- Black Friday is the shopping holiday. The day after our Thanksgiving in the US.
- 16:45
- Mickey Mouse
- also usually a holiday - but not for everyone...
- 16:47
- Mickey Mouse
- In the US many people who get off the third Thursday in November for thanksgiving also get off Friday as well. It then became the kickoff of the holiday shopping season.
- 16:49
- Mickey Mouse
- The US has more bank holidays then UK
- 16:49
- Mickey Mouse
- Years ago stores would open earlier and earlier competing with each other and the last two years stores that used to be closed on Thanksgiving have been opening at 5pm on Thanksgiving. It has stirred a lot of debate.
- 16:50
- Mickey Mouse
- it was bad enough when the stores were opening at midnight...
- 16:50
- Mickey Mouse
- Yes we do but many businesses don't observe many of them.
- 16:51
- Mickey Mouse
- oh
- 16:51
- Mickey Mouse
- i know that if you work in say a shop or retail then you prob have to work, but otherwise im surprised
- 16:51
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah, and doorbusters live up to the name. People have been stomped over. It has gotten way out of hand. People can be insane in large groups
- 16:52
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah last black friday here there was alot of trouble with people fighting over the last item
- 16:53
- Mickey Mouse
- to be honest i would have thought internet shopping would have cut that down quite a bit
- 16:53
- Mickey Mouse
- but guess not
- 16:53
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar outside of retail most people get major holidays off like Abutmas, Thanksgiving, Day after thanksgiving (black Friday), Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July (Independence Day)
- 16:55
- Mickey Mouse
- Some companies give additional holidays like my company with Good Friady today. My wife has to work today but her company gives her MLK (Dr. Martin Luther King) day off which I dont get. Banks and Schools take all of the holidays off.
- 16:59
- Mickey Mouse
- Fighting over the last item is how it starts. Before you know it there is a shoving match to get through the door. I do regard the English as having a higher percentage of more civilized population so hopefully it wont get as bad as it has gotten here.
- 16:59
- Mickey Mouse
- Obviously it varys company to company and state to state, but the US get very few holiday days a year right? ( not bank holidays i mean the amount of days your company give you a year off )
- 16:59
- Mickey Mouse
- uk has 8 public holidays
- 16:59
- Mickey Mouse
- I heard 14 days a year is pretty standard and its considered normal to use your sick days as holiday.
- 17:00
- Mickey Mouse
- i didn't believe that when someone told me
- 17:01
- Mickey Mouse
- In the UK Almost all workers are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday per year . so if you work a 5 day week it's 28day
- 17:02
- Mickey Mouse
- in UK its law you get 28 days a year including bank holidays, so really its 20 bookable days
- 17:02
- Mickey Mouse
- State to state not so much because they are all national holidays. Definitely company to company as they ultimately decide what holidays the employees get. Most companies also give vacation time which I know you refer to as Holiday as well. So I personally get 7 paid national holidays off and I get 3 weeks of paid vacation leave per year.
- 17:03
- Mickey Mouse
- Also if the national holiday falls on a weekend we will get an observed day of on the preceding Friday or following Monday
- 17:03
- Mickey Mouse
- a day in leiu
- 17:03
- Mickey Mouse
- exactly
- 17:04
- Mickey Mouse
- in the UK that cant happen, the date change so its always a friday
- 17:04
- Mickey Mouse
- or monday
- 17:05
- Mickey Mouse
- Jafar S have you been at your company long? and accumulated the 15 days or was it like that from the start?
- 17:06
- Mickey Mouse
- All uk Public holidays ar eon Monday's , except Abutmas Day, Boxing Day and today
- 17:06
- Mickey Mouse
- That's interesting. We don't change the date but some holidays always fall on the day of the week like Thanksgiving is always Thursday and some always on the day of the month like the 4th of July for our independence day.
- 17:07
- Mickey Mouse
- We do not celebrate boxing day, which is a shame. Many people have to go to work the day after Abutmas
- 17:07
- Mickey Mouse
- Porthos yep not sure why i said friday before monday
- 17:09
- Mickey Mouse
- Any CEH today?
- 17:09
- Mickey Mouse
- I have been with my company for 13 years now. After 7 yrs. I started accumulating 4 weeks paid leave per year instead of 3 weeks. This is the way my company does it. There is no law stipulating exactly how companies give vacation time or requiring companies to give off work for national holidays.
- 17:10
- Mickey Mouse
- Yes Hermes, they will be back after lunch
- 17:10
- Mickey Mouse
- Manditory five weeks in Norway
- 17:10
- Mickey Mouse
- I do not have separate sick days. (although other companies in the US do) My company does a PTO system where your vacation days are also sick day. You use them for what you need.
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- And now it is Easter with free five days
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- Hermes 5 days incuding weekend?
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- Man i think i might move to Norway!
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- Yes
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- @Hermes That is nice
- 17:11
- Mickey Mouse
- Most people do a whole week away on mountain etc
- 17:12
- Mickey Mouse
- Jafar ahh so 3 weeks was the start holiday days, gotya
- 17:12
- Mickey Mouse
- Although working in IT i never get to take all of my paid leave
- 17:12
- Mickey Mouse
- 17:13
- Mickey Mouse
- Or Sweden or Denmark. Same rules. And we get sick days without loosing vacation time. If you get sick on vacation. You get vacation days compensation.
- 17:13
- Mickey Mouse
- The US has a mentality that taking vacation days reduces your job security. People rarely take more than a week off at a time
- 17:13
- Mickey Mouse
- Sad.
- 17:14
- Mickey Mouse
- We do need to take vacation or the employer get fined
- 17:14
- Mickey Mouse
- I have worked in IT for 2x years and your always on call
- 17:14
- Mickey Mouse
- Not here
- 17:14
- Mickey Mouse
- I have worked in IT 13 years and I am always on call
- 17:15
- Mickey Mouse
- I know a number of companies the it mandatory that one of you holiday must be 2 weeks
- 17:16
- Mickey Mouse
- I think it is wise. Why burn out your staff.
- 17:16
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah it varys per company but i think by law you get 5 paid sick days then its at the companys descrestion if they pay you or not, of course you always get statutory sick pay if you claim it
- 17:16
- Mickey Mouse
- Dam my spelling is atrocious!!
- 17:17
- Mickey Mouse
- We can get 48 week of paid sick days, but employer only pays the first 16 days
- 17:17
- Mickey Mouse
- and now in english "I know of a number of companies that the policy is at some point in the year your holidays must be 2 consecutive weeks"
- 17:18
- Mickey Mouse
- Jafar G , so is mine, i type , press enter then re-read
- 17:18
- Mickey Mouse
- Interesting, Andriod arc welder, any andrioid app on mac windows or linux
- 17:19
- Mickey Mouse
- It is interesting the differences between the US and UK. I only have Top Gear to thank for most of my knowledge of common cultural issues in England. I would like to make it over there sometime, that is if I could afford to take off that many days.
- 17:19
- Mickey Mouse
- Somone just emails me about it, i dont use andriod but it seems pretty good for those that do if it works properly.
- 17:20
- Mickey Mouse
- clarkson got suspended from the BBC i read he may be going to AU so you might learn about them soon lol
- 17:21
- Mickey Mouse
- I saw. I dont think AU simulcast in the US. I think that Hammond and May are leaving as well?
- 17:22
- Mickey Mouse
- I have not heard anything about hammon and may but it wouldnt surprise me, if they bought in someone else it wouldnt be the same
- 17:24
- Mickey Mouse
- if he stays in UK im ure any other channel would snap him up and they Hammond and May would prob go with him
- 17:24
- Mickey Mouse
- It is a shame that he couldn't keep his cool. It was a great program... programme
- 17:24
- Mickey Mouse
- BBC America is all we have available on our cable programs so we are screwed.
- 17:25
- Mickey Mouse
- can you get bbc iplayer the ones from other channels?
- 17:25
- Mickey Mouse
- or does it block you
- 17:25
- Mickey Mouse
- i cant get hulu
- 17:25
- Mickey Mouse
- IT prob block based on IP block
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- What about Netflix?
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- yeah we have netflix over here
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- There is always the US version Top Gear. Pales by comparison would be an understatement.
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- you can always use a proxy for bbc iplayer
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- but it is getting better
- 17:26
- Mickey Mouse
- there is an idea.
- 17:27
- Mickey Mouse
- Most of the free ones are terrible but if you dont mind paying a small fee each month its fine
- 17:27
- Mickey Mouse
- Good to know. Different topic of interest. Do you guys have bandwidth caps on broadband access over there?
- 17:28
- Mickey Mouse
- http://www.viewabroad.com/fullsite.html
- 17:29
- Mickey Mouse
- works
- 17:30
- Mickey Mouse
- never seen that one before but it seems ok
- 17:30
- Mickey Mouse
- Funny, i do not recognize any of the channels they list under USA
- 17:30
- Mickey Mouse
- lol
- 17:31
- Mickey Mouse
- From what i have seen of US TV i dont think i could watch it, AD's drive me crazy and you have more AD breaks than anyone!
- 17:34
- Mickey Mouse
- I hate the ADs here. Every commercial break they have some pharma commercial that shouts off terrible side effects. The breaks have gotten longer and they now "sweeten the audio" which make the commercials louder than the program you are watching. I have started muting the commercials now. Thanks goodnes for DVRs. I just pause the program for a few minutes so I can fast forward through most of the commercials.
- 17:38
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah, or with sky plus just start watching after 10 mins and forward the ad's
- 17:41
- Mickey Mouse
- Do you guys have bandwidth caps on broadband internet access over there?
- 17:41
- Mickey Mouse
- you can get packages that do, but i would never get one
- 17:42
- Mickey Mouse
- i have 80mb down and 20mb up no cap for £25 a month
- 17:43
- Mickey Mouse
- 40Mb down / 2Mb up cable broadband for me at $50 mo.
- 17:43
- Mickey Mouse
- which is fiber to the cabinet, i think the fastest is around 150mb down
- 17:43
- Mickey Mouse
- i hate the way they always destroy the upload speeds
- 17:43
- Mickey Mouse
- I have fiber to my house from previous owner through Verizon (telecom carrier) but I chose to go with cable braodband
- 17:44
- Mickey Mouse
- yeah the 150MB is a virgin which is fiber to the house
- 17:44
- Mickey Mouse
- Yes but async allows for more down speeds in the same space
- 17:44
- Mickey Mouse
- i dont have a static IP though
- 17:45
- Mickey Mouse
- i cant get one unless i go business package
- 17:45
- Mickey Mouse
- and not an IPv6 in sight
- 17:45
- Mickey Mouse
- Verizon is synchronous to residential http://www.verizon.com/home/fios/
- 17:46
- Mickey Mouse
- the 500/500Mb is tempting. May need them to light my fiber back up.
- 17:46
- Mickey Mouse
- nice
- 17:46
- Mickey Mouse
- I am lucky though. In a major metro area so I have a few options. Others in the US are not so fortunate
- 17:47
- Mickey Mouse
- I also want static IP and Verizon forces you into a business account for that and my calbe provider gives it to me for an extra $20mo. for residential so that really shaped my decision.
- 17:48
- Mickey Mouse
- *cable
- 17:48
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah same over here, i know a few people that can only get as fast as 4MB up and 0.5MB down
- 17:49
- Mickey Mouse
- I feel bad for Canada. They have a duopoly. It is Bell DSL or Rogers cable broadband for many and all services have bandwidth caps.
- 17:49
- Mickey Mouse
- at least last i heard
- 17:49
- Mickey Mouse
- popping out, back in 20
- 17:50
- Mickey Mouse
- I gotta go grab lunch as well. Good chatting with you.

- @Louie. Well....
- 18:48
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar Smith they use gravatar for the chat icons
- 18:48
- Mickey Mouse
- There is a Linux distro called ADHD for those wanting to setup a Honeypot or Honeynet
- 18:49
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie oh i thought it linked from the forums. I didn't see gravatar mentioned anywhere on the site
- 18:49
- Mickey Mouse
- @Geptto thanks
- 18:50
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar it isn't - they mentioned it the other day in a break
- 18:50
- Mickey Mouse
- yw Micchala
- 18:50
- Mickey Mouse
- Minnie
- 18:51
- Mickey Mouse
- any good freeware IDS and IPS?
- 18:51
- Mickey Mouse
- I think im going to sign up for the year.
- 18:51
- Mickey Mouse
- Those are integrated into UTMs.
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pegasus that's what I did.
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- Been a member since Oct'14
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- What all is included in that, I don't really need to download the videos is it cheaper to buy it as premium pre month or, ?
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- You guys are going to keep updating as soon as the certs get updated right?
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- @Aladdin Snorby
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- Whenever i turn on IPS on my UTM firewall/router it literally slows my connection speed down by 50%
- 18:52
- Mickey Mouse
- The network + was updated right away.
- 18:53
- Mickey Mouse
- That's my only fear.
- 18:53
- Mickey Mouse
- @Matt probably the algorithm that they are using.
- 18:53
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pegasus you also get measure-up exams too. Very helpful.
- 18:53
- Mickey Mouse
- @Aladdin I think Untangle has a good IPS/IDS as well
- 18:54
- Mickey Mouse
- Untangle has changed ALOT since it started a few years back.
- 18:54
- Mickey Mouse
- @Donald - Have you ever engineered (social or otherwise) a false positive to cover your tracks, or avoid detection? Keep them busy to do what you need to do, or make your intrusion look like a FP?
- 18:54
- Mickey Mouse
- I still haven't tried out plural sight, lol.
- 18:54
- Mickey Mouse
- I don't really enjoy cbt nuggets teaching style.
- 18:55
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jasmes - I havent used it in a while. Changed for better I hope.
- 18:55
- Mickey Mouse
- *@Geptto
- 18:55
- Mickey Mouse
- @Aladdin also Snort
- 18:55
- Mickey Mouse
- I've haven't skimmed it recently.
- 18:56
- Mickey Mouse
- My fav is this one: http://endian.it/
- 18:56
- Mickey Mouse
- I used that one since version 0.7.
- 18:56
- Mickey Mouse
- Thats a good one. I am most familiar with pfSense
- 18:57
- Mickey Mouse
- when it comes to OSS
- 18:57
- Mickey Mouse
- ty
- 18:57
- Mickey Mouse
- pfSense is great too. It's based off of FreeBSD. Which is more security due to it's layout.
- 18:58
- Mickey Mouse
- question: have you used "bro" and if so, how does it compare?
- 18:58
- Mickey Mouse
- Snorby is simply put a front-end for snort btw
- 18:59
- Mickey Mouse
- Snort is in some of those UTMs buiolds
- 18:59
- Mickey Mouse
- https://www.snort.org/
- 18:59
- Mickey Mouse
- Has anyone used the ITUS Shield?
- 19:00
- Mickey Mouse
- we aquired a company using untangle in production. I still have it running
- 19:00
- Mickey Mouse
- That are so many rules in there. It's crazy.
- 19:00
- Mickey Mouse
- and learning to read the snort sigs, is very helpful
- 19:01
- Mickey Mouse
- We are using AlienVault USM in our corporate environment that runs either Snort or Suricata under the hood.
- 19:02
- Mickey Mouse
- low noise probes.
- 19:03
- Mickey Mouse
- Yeah, I have seen a lot of commercial products that run snort under the hood.
- 19:03
- Mickey Mouse
- Really a testiment to the power of Snort
- 19:08
- Mickey Mouse
- If anyone is looking to build a firewall/router/ids from OSS Netgeate has a great selection of embedded hardware platforms http://store.netgate.com/
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- anyone else having problem with stream buffering?
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- right now
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- Thanks Jafar
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- video is solid here
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- It's a detection threshold.
- 19:09
- Mickey Mouse
- yes. video buffering on and off here too. again. ugh.
- 19:10
- Mickey Mouse
- aside from a few rare audio pops streeming great
- 19:10
- Mickey Mouse
- much better from my house then my office.
- 19:11
- Mickey Mouse
- @Donald - Thanks! That answered my question
- 19:12
- Mickey Mouse
- is there anyway to have a private chat about the billing
- 19:12
- Mickey Mouse
- Send it to pager duty
- 19:12
- Mickey Mouse
- I got charged twice on the same day I dont know if thats a error or..
- 19:12
- Mickey Mouse
- That is what happened to Target sort of
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pegasus - you should submit a support ticket for that. We don't have a private chat.
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- I love that I have absorbed so much of this, I can ask the right question #feelsgoodman
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- thats like setting a physicl alarm off for days until the eather ignore it or shut it off
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- @Aladdin Security Onion , Is a good Linux IDS Distro, has Snort, snorby, Bro pre configured out of the box. http://blog.securityonion.net/p/securityonion.html
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- thanks Porthos
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- @ Hercules, it was actually for my sons school portraits lol.
- 19:13
- Mickey Mouse
- cannon-IR - that is familiar!!
- 19:14
- Mickey Mouse
- Porthos - just saw that on irongeek too
- 19:14
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos - Good call.
- 19:14
- Mickey Mouse
- t.t
- 19:16
- Mickey Mouse
- tripwire is good - if you use it, properly!
- 19:16
- Mickey Mouse
- So many more great open-source tools out there now.
- 19:17
- Mickey Mouse
- great tip
- 19:17
- Mickey Mouse
- Excellent segment, clarified a few things for me - thank you
- 19:17
- Mickey Mouse
- Tripwire is great tool but now very expensive, ossec is simular http://www.ossec.net/ open source ,
- 19:18
- Mickey Mouse
- thanks for all the links
- 19:18
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos - looking at that Security onion distro, looks good!
- 19:19
- Mickey Mouse
- have you covered how to know what tools are safe to use (ie malware free)? Do you go by reputation, do your own audit, always run in a vm?
- 19:19
- Mickey Mouse
- There's Tim.
- 19:19
- Mickey Mouse
- I have a VM for CENTOS but forget my password, is there a spot (folder location) to manually reset it from outside the VM??
- 19:20
- Mickey Mouse
- @Duey Donald covered running the tools in a VM. Also we've talked about anti-malware tools and supplementing with virustotal
- 19:20
- Mickey Mouse
- On the host
- 19:20
- Mickey Mouse
- Awww, that's another conversation I would have wanted to hear Geptto.
- 19:20
- Mickey Mouse
- nice. thx.
- 19:20
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie. thanks - I must have missed that too.
- 19:21
- Mickey Mouse
- See the anti-malware section here - CEH links thread - https://bitly.com/itpro-ceh-links which resolves to https://forums.itpro.tv/topic/353/ceh-useful-links
- 19:21
- Mickey Mouse
- heh - you need royalties.
- 19:21
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie SO also has ossec included with it. It scales up really well. Has full packet capture, so if you give it 1tb storage, it will store the last 1Tb of traffic, so if you get an alert , you can pivot the data and see what really happened, . I.e did that maleware go off,, yes there is it's call home and here is the exe it downloaded
- 19:22
- Mickey Mouse
- @Hercules do you guys plan on making a phone app so you can download to your phone?
- 19:22
- Mickey Mouse
- Android specifically not everyone can afford apple, lol.
- 19:23
- Mickey Mouse
- You can download the recorded sessions and then add to iTune library to put on phone or tablet. I would imaging same is true of Android.
- 19:24
- Mickey Mouse
- gotta go, alarm at the office. So much for having Good Friday off. Take care all. This has been on of the best chat rooms.
- 19:24
- Mickey Mouse
- Good luck Jafar
- 19:25
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar see you!
- 19:25
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos H thanks for the tip re storage with SO
- 19:26
- Mickey Mouse
- @Matt best of luck
- 19:26
- Mickey Mouse
- Alerts on holiday weekends suck...
- 19:26
- Mickey Mouse
- @Jafar: good luck & thanks
- 19:28
- Mickey Mouse
- @Pegasus: The Apple app is coming out first, followed by the Android app later.
- 19:28
- Mickey Mouse
- The CEH is the most requested cert out there now. We are fortunate to have this training
- 19:28
- Mickey Mouse
- I know if many of you have come across Splunk http://www.splunk.com it's a really good log monitoring tool, and you can log 500Mb per day for FREE
- 19:29
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos Yes, we used to use it before they switched to Logrhythm
- 19:29
- Mickey Mouse
- Thanks Porthos
- 19:29
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos I don't know the reasons why they changed through
- 19:29
- Mickey Mouse
- *though
- 19:30
- Mickey Mouse
- I was watching the live-stream on my phone this morning, but it has more resources than my Chromebox, maybe even my Chromebook!
- 19:30
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie - what's your impression after the migration?
- 19:30
- Mickey Mouse
- Then I had a probable Florida telemarketer interrupt the stream.
- 19:31
- Mickey Mouse
- @Aladdin I wasn't involved with the hands-on stuff so I can't tell you. The on;y thing I can say is that regardless of what system is used, it needs resource to be allocated responsibility to actually look at it on a regular basis
- 19:31
- Mickey Mouse
- Once I got the notification on the phone, it killed streaming, I had to restart the mobile browser.
- 19:31
- Mickey Mouse
- Splunk can get expensive , but so can Logrythm, Having use both ,I alway speck splunk. Probably down to CSO and there preferred app
- 19:32
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos useful to know. I saw Splunk has lots of plugins
- 19:32
- Mickey Mouse
- good point
- 19:32
- Mickey Mouse
- I think I have a big book on Snort around, but it is likely out-of-date.
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- different topic - what's your favorite VM software?
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- VMWare is my favorite especially on Mac
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- Virtualbox
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- At work VMware, at home Oracle Virtualbox
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- @Geptto +1
- 19:33
- Mickey Mouse
- Hopefully it won't start a chatroom fight.
- 19:34
- Mickey Mouse
- +10 for $plunk if you have the funding!
- 19:34
- Mickey Mouse
- Splunk has load, pretty much every Firewall, IDS, OS .... the list goes on. in the UK BT, John Lewis, Vodaphone and other big corps/councils use it , BTW i don't work for Splunk.
- 19:35
- Mickey Mouse
- @ Porthos
- 19:35
- Mickey Mouse
- VM all the way.,
- 19:35
- Mickey Mouse
- Loved Splunk till I found SumoLogic ..
- 19:35
- Mickey Mouse
- not heard of SumoLogic, I will check it out
- 19:35
- Mickey Mouse
- I'm playing with Sophos UTM. Seems to have a bunch of IPS and filtering capabilities. Free for home use.
- 19:36
- Mickey Mouse
- What was that one that Steve Gibson recommended, UTM again
- 19:36
- Mickey Mouse
- Astero is another one.
- 19:36
- Mickey Mouse
- That was it!
- 19:36
- Mickey Mouse
- Thanks @GepttoO
- 19:36
- Mickey Mouse
- Astaro is the base of Sophos. Sophos bought Astaro, I believe.
- 19:37
- Mickey Mouse
- @Duey aha
- 19:37
- Mickey Mouse
- Virtualbox, i noticed though that it does not let you use the mouse wheel
- 19:37
- Mickey Mouse
- I love Splunk but the problem is that I want to put every log I have in to it and that is where it gets expensive. Has anyone used Log Stash http://logstash.net/?
- 19:37
- Mickey Mouse
- @Duey: i believe you're right
- 19:37
- Mickey Mouse
- Still muted.
- 19:38
- Mickey Mouse
- Aramis: I DON'T want to be an Airborne Ranger but some people think I do because that cadence keeps popping back into my head ahhhhh!!
- 19:38
- Mickey Mouse
- Suddenly a lot of buffering , in uk anyone else?
- 19:38
- Mickey Mouse
- Please, early Britney Spears, not as older Mom.
- 19:39
- Mickey Mouse
- LOL.
- 19:39
- Mickey Mouse
- The girl played Cameron is also in 4400 as Tessa.
- 19:39
- Mickey Mouse

- 19:39
- Mickey Mouse
- stopppppppp
- 19:40
- Mickey Mouse
- put on your boots boots boots ...
- 19:40
- Mickey Mouse
- @Hercules I have used Fusion (MAC) and VMware for about 4 years and always happy.
- 19:41
- Mickey Mouse
- @Hercules do you have the vbox additions tools installed? Mouse wheel scroll works fine for me - just double checked
- 19:41
- Mickey Mouse
- @Athos Is Fusion free?
- 19:41
- Mickey Mouse
- Crap, if the show is wrapping up I have to work on my van afterwards.
- 19:41
- Mickey Mouse
- i downloadet but, i dont think so
- 19:42
- Mickey Mouse
- i'll look into doing that
- 19:42
- Mickey Mouse
- Fire Diving... oh wait, damn
- 19:42
- Mickey Mouse
- firewall leak test
- 19:42
- Mickey Mouse
- Sanvine.
- 19:43
- Mickey Mouse
- Comcast fav. Punks!
- 19:45
- Mickey Mouse
- There are even cloud based firewalls.
- 19:46
- Mickey Mouse
- OpenDNS/Security Umbrella
- 19:46
- Mickey Mouse
- I can't even look up information about pellet guns at work.
- 19:47
- Mickey Mouse
- i usualy run vbox on windows with the additions. this time i installed it on ubuntu linux by selecting it out of a list to install. I overlooked making sure vbox additions got installed.
- 19:47
- Mickey Mouse
- LMAO @Hades!!!!
- 19:48
- Mickey Mouse
- @Hades - LOL
- 19:49
- Mickey Mouse
- Guns are excluded very heavily in our employee handbook, but they've given combat knives as service awards at their Abutmas parties.
- 19:49
- Mickey Mouse
- QUESTION: Did I miss a type? I thought they said four and I only have packet-filtering, application level and stateful
- 19:49
- Mickey Mouse
- even though I'm a Windows type, My Laptop is a MacBook with VM Fusion, and Windows 7 and Kali VM's works really well
- 19:50
- Mickey Mouse
- @Minnie - i think there were only 3
- 19:50
- Mickey Mouse
- There is also deep packet inspection. Like SandVine that Comcast uses.
- 19:51
- Mickey Mouse
- That is like a iptables -L
- 19:51
- Mickey Mouse
- Ah thanks Geptto
- 19:51
- Mickey Mouse
- Ah, ok thansk Captain my captain
- 19:54
- Mickey Mouse
- Sounds indecorous
- 19:54
- Mickey Mouse
- LOL
- 19:55
- Mickey Mouse
- finally back at a computer... trying to watch/listen to this on my phone is awful.
- 19:55

- Mickey Mouse
- http://honeynet.org/
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- What was the first one he mentioned?
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- was it ICMP?
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- Entrapment.
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- kfsensor I think?
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- I was watching on my phone earlier too, at the lunchbreak I got "Deep-Voice Don".
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- VM & cloud Honeypots can now grow & add nodes dynmaically
- 19:56
- Mickey Mouse
- ha ha ha Huey
- 19:57
- Mickey Mouse
- http://www.keyfocus.net/kfsensor/
- 19:57
- Mickey Mouse
- I missed a lot... looking forward to Minnie's notes
- 19:58
- Mickey Mouse
- It's something that happens on things like the Roku channel, in an extended binge-watching times.
- 19:58
- Mickey Mouse
- o.k.
- 19:58
- Mickey Mouse
- if you have a banner saying "authorized access only" its not entrapment
- 19:58
- Mickey Mouse
- If it's inside your DMZ and not available for the outside world, that can't be entrapment. I guess it depend on your local law.
- 19:59
- Mickey Mouse
- Lets hook the john!
- 20:00
- Mickey Mouse
- security researchers collect exploits and methods that way for study
- 20:00
- Mickey Mouse
- SANS have a honeypot.
- 20:00
- Mickey Mouse
- Shellshock they used honeypots to see what codes they were using.
- 20:00
- Mickey Mouse
- I've seen that in spam filtering, and more recently with telemarketing calls.
- 20:01
- Mickey Mouse
- Are there any services that are open "Hack Our Network" type setups, to learn, and try new things?
- 20:01
- Mickey Mouse
- Distractions
- 20:01
- Mickey Mouse
- luring
- 20:01
- Mickey Mouse
- @D'artagan yes there are some, I'll add a section to links page. We mentioned nmap page, hackthissite, etc
- 20:02
- Mickey Mouse
- I've seen Honey pots used as great alerting tools, if it inside the DMZ or internal network and it even gets a ping , then someone must be inside
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- That must have been the day I missed
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos scary thought
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- but if the pineapple is connecting to anyone with any SSID they're requesting, you have to wonder about legality...
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- Shouldn't be called a honeypt but a tarpit.
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- Navy vessel side, you have a "sacrifice bar", which is zinc ingots attacked by corrosives in seawater first.
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- @Porthos I got Dionaea running on a Raspberry PI. A cheap way to put honeypots in remote offices. https://github.com/threatstream/mhn/wiki/Deploying-Dionaea-on-a-Raspberry-Pi If anyone tries to access it or scan it we will know about it.
- 20:03
- Mickey Mouse
- @Geptto - True
- 20:04
- Mickey Mouse
- @Geptto O. Yes
- 20:04
- Mickey Mouse
- @Huey - same concept in hot water heater.
- 20:04
- Mickey Mouse
- Why not? Once you attack the honeypot this will generate logs.
- 20:04
- Mickey Mouse
- thanks @Mars, I will check it out
- 20:04
- Mickey Mouse
- QUESTION: So is a firewall a type of IPS?
- 20:05
- Mickey Mouse
- @Mars I was just looking at that one.

- 20:11
- Mickey Mouse
- +1 Daisy. It's been so good compared to other forms of self-study. I especially like all the practical examples they use drawing on their experience
- 20:11
